Albert Johnson

LANCASTER - Mr. Albert Floyd Johnson, 75, of 810 Monroe Highway died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lancaster Church of God, with the Revs. Lacy Jones and Marty Cox officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Kershaw County, Mr. Johnson was the son of the late Otis Johnson and Susie Mae Well Johnson. He was a retired security guard with Springs Industries' Lancaster Plant and a member of Lancaster Church of God. He served in the Army and received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and the World War II Victory Medal.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Smallwood Johnson; three sons, James Johnson of Lexington, and Lynn Johnson and David Johnson, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Florence Johnson Kolb of Lancaster and Barbara Johnson Roebuck of Cayce; her sister, Ruby Mae Moree of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Lancaster Church of God building fund, 1437 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

M. Edward Latham

DELMAR, Del. - Mr. Monroe Edward "Ed" Latham, 60, died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, Del.

Burial was at Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear, Del.

A native of York County, Mr. Latham was the son of William Monroe Hays Latham and the late Helen Mitchell Latham. He was a retired truck driver and veteran of the Air Force. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Surviving in addition to his father are his son, Scott A. Latham of Seaford, Del.; three daughters, Lynette Brittingham of Snow Hill, Md., Tammy Harmon of Berlin, Md., and Lisa Higginboth of Brooklyn, Conn.; his sister, Faye Smith of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.

Short Funeral Home was in charge.

Lula Lewis

CHESTER - Mrs. Lula Good Lewis, 94, of 643 Elm Road died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. Dr. Ralph Webber Jr. and Roger Thomas officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Lewis was the daughter of the late John B. Good and Ola Williams Good. She was retired from Springs Industries. She attended Chester County schools and was a member of Lowrys Baptist Church. She was the widow of Earl C. Lewis.

Surviving are her son, Marion C. Lewis of Rock Hill; four daughters, Rose L. Bailey of Spartanburg, Margaret L. Atkinson and Erline Lewis, both of Chester, and Ann L. Webber of Jonesville, La.; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Lowrys Baptist Church, 2607 James F. Wherry Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Annie Reeves

KERSHAW - Mrs. Annie Mae Dease Reeves, 74, of 457 Oak Ridge Road died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Young officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Reeves was the daughter of the late Chalmers and Mary Ethel Taylor Dease. She was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, where she was Sunday school and Training Union secretary and treasurer. She was the widow of Elmer Ulyce Reeves.

Surviving are two daughters, Beth Mobley of Kershaw and Cynthia Gail Reeves of Charleston; her brother, William R. Dease of Kershaw; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at home.

Memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge Baptist Church building fund, 596 Oak Ridge Church Road, Kershaw, SC 29067 or to Hospice of Kershaw County, 2001 W. DeKalb St., Camden, SC 29020.

Ann Scruggs

TEGA CAY - Mrs. Jarvis Ann Melvin Scruggs, 60, of 4046 Windward Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Tega Cay Community Church.

A native of Durham, N.C., Mrs. Scruggs was the daughter of the late Henry Jarvis Melvin Sr. and Annie Belle Ferguson Melvin. She was employed at Federal Paper Board in Charlotte and was a member of Braggtown Baptist Church of Durham, N.C.

Surviving are her husband, Maurice C. Scruggs Sr.; two stepsons, Maurice Clinton Scruggs Jr. of Oregon and Joseph David Scruggs of Philadelphia; her stepdaughter, Patricia Joanne Derway of Cameron, N.C.; her brother, Henry Jarvis Melvin Jr. of Reidsville, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Belva Craig

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Belva McFadden Craig, 83, of 1557 Dunlap Roddey Road died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999, at her home.

Arrangements will be announced by Bass Funeral Home.

Lula Lewis
