James Perry Jr.

YORK - Mr. James A. Perry Jr., 34, of 2961 Spreading Oak Lane died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral was 5 p.m. Sunday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Bob Sprinkle officiating. Burial will be 1 p.m. today at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Elgin.

Mr. Perry was a native of Cherokee County and had served in the Navy. He was a truck driver and attended York Technical College.

Surviving are his parents, James A. Perry Sr. of Hickory Grove and Joanne Ross Medley of Elgin; his stepfather, Roger Medley of Elgin; his stepmother, Melissa Perry of Hickory Grove; his girlfriend, Dawn Helms of York; three brothers, Patrick E. Perry of Elgin, Jason F. Shillinglaw of Charleston and Daniel C. Perry of Hickory Grove; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Ross of Elgin.

Carolyn Wilks

YORK - Ms. Carolyn Jean Wilks, 37, of 119 Lowry Road died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Arrangements will be announced by Wright Funeral Home.

Kenneth Boone

YORK - Mr. Kenneth Wayne Boone, 36, of 1057 Perla Road died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Merv Horst officiating. Burial will be at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Catawba Ward.

Mr. Boone was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Rock Hill. He was an insulator with Installation Services. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, who loved to deer hunt.

Surviving are his wife, Cindi Brown Boone of the home; his son, Joshua W. Boone of the home; his daughter, Brandy L. Boone of the home; two brothers, Jeff Boone of Lancaster and Derek Boone of Catawba; his father, Paul J. Boone of Catawba and his mother, Shirley Brock Boone of Fort Mill; and his grandmother, Annie Brock of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the home.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William Chambers

PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Mr. William Oscar Chambers, 77, of 616 W. Third St., formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Judkins Colonial Home, 428 W. Fourth St., Plainfield. The Rev. Oliver Johnson will officiate.

Mr. Chambers was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Plainfield.

Surviving are his wife, Alma Chambers of the home; his daughter, Sherry Johnson of the home; his brother, Roy Chambers of Rock Hill; his sister, Annie L. Barber of Resting, Va.; and two grandchildren.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Ethel Funderburke

FORT MILL - Mrs. Ethel Leonna Funderburke, 76, of 1491 Legion Road died Saturday, Feb. 20, 1999, at Mercy Hospital South in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenrock Baptist Church, with Rev. Gene Flack officiating. Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Marion, N.C., Mrs. Funderburke was retired from Springs Industries. She attended Glenrock Baptist Church. She was the widow of Clyde Funderburke.

Surviving are two sons, Zeb Flynn and Whitey Flynn, both of Fort Mill; two brothers, Roy Flynn of Fort Mill and the Rev. Paul Flynn of Cleveland, Ga.; eight sisters, Opal Pittman and Nettie Blackwell, both of Fort Mill, Hazel Baynard and Margie Marlowe, both of Forest City, N.C., Wanda Green of Cliffside, N.C., Ailene Wilkerson of Marion and Irene Boone and Ruby Hudgins, both of Rutherfordton, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Fort Mill Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Zeb Flynn, 1477 Legion Road in Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to the Glenrock Baptist Church Building Fund, 1815 Doby's Bridge Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Florence Lyons

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. - Mrs. Florence Ruth Lyons, 91, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999, at St. Joseph's Nursing Center at Morris Hall.

A memorial service will be 7:30 tonight at St. Anne Catholic Church in Rock Hill.

Mrs. Lyons taught reading skills to remedial and advanced placement students at schools in Reading, Pa., and Rock Hill.

She was an active member of St. Anne Craft Guild in Rock Hill, as well as several church and community choirs.

Surviving are her husband, John J. Lyons III of Lawrenceville; her son, John J. Lyons IV of Allendale, N.J.; five daughters, Mary Prutzman of Annandale, Va., Patricia Mueller of Jamesburg, N.J., Margaret Hagen of Rock Hill, Catherine Misner of Doylestown, Pa., and Florence Hurley of Charlotte; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Margaret Hagen, 1052 Farm Pond Lane, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to St. Anne Parish School Endowment Fund, 1698 Bird St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse, N.J., is in charge.

Emma Mitchell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Emma L. Mitchell, 83, of 1312 Crawford Road died Wednesday, Feb. 17, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Nazareth Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.H. Bailey officiating and the Revs. C.B. White-Kiser, C. Dunlap, C.H. Williams and W.E. Page assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A retired domestic worker, Mrs. Mitchell was the widow of Ulysses Mitchell. She was educated in the York County public schools and at Clinton Junior College. She was a former Sunday school teacher and member of the senior musical choir at Nazareth Baptist Church, as well as a member of AP&B Society No. 23 and past president of the Missionary Circle No. 1.

Surviving are her son, Samson Mitchell of Rock Hill; her daughter, Earlene M. White of Rock Hill; 21 grandchildren; 59 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed at Parker Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today and will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home.
