Harvey Taylor Sr.
YORK - Mr. Harvey Clayton Taylor Sr., 60, of 1451 Black Hwy. died Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by York Funeral Home.

Ransom Welch
DEEP GAP, N.C. - Mr. Ransom E. Welch, 71, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Stony Fork Baptist Church, with the Rev. Vernon Eller officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A native of Wilkes County, N.C., Mr. Welch was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired brick mason. He was a member of Stony Fork Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Juanita Greer Welch; his son, Charles Welch of Boone, N.C.; two daughters, Evelyn Beshears of Germanton, N.C., and Euna Dale Church of Rural Hall, N.C.; his brother, G.C. Welch of Rock Hill; his sister, Catherine Moretz of Deep Gap; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 Wednesday night at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone.

Cleo Whiteside
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cleo Whiteside, 82, of 376 Windy Cove Road, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Greg Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
A native of Spartanburg, Mrs. Whiteside was a homemaker and a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Surviving are her sons, James Whiteside of Rock Hill, Bobby Whiteside of Greenville and Wayne Whiteside of Myrtle Beach; her daughters, Mary Hall and Elaine Hollis, both of Rock Hill; her sister, Hazel Baldock of Startex; two brothers, Garland Bailey of Lyman and John Bailey of Danville, Va.; 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home. Other times at the home.

Ralph Cousar
FORT LAWN - Mr. Ralph Lloyd Cousar, 57, of 1014 First Class Drive died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte.
The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Eternal Rock Church, with Pastor Bernard Morris officiating. Buurial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Cousar was a member of the Mt. Zion AME Zion Church. He was educated in the public schools of Chester County. He was a former employee of Crowder's Construction of Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Stinson Cousar; three sons, Timothy Cousar of Richburg, David Cousar of the home and Ralph A. Cousar of Fort Lawn; his daughter, Symantha Cousar of Lancaster; his father, William Cousar of Chester; four brothers, William Cousar Jr., Harry T. Cousar and Lorenzo Cousar, all of Fort Lawn, and Mannie Cousar of Catawba; six sisters, Hattie Cousar of Chester, Mary Hinton, Lorraine Stevenson and Carrie Mobley, all of Rock Hill, and Barbara Cousar and Mardie Stewart, both of Lancaster; and eight grandchildren.
The body will be carried to the church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the home.
King's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Kathleen Dowd
SALISBURY, N.C. - Mrs. Kathleen Parrish Shue Dowd, 71, of 815 Dunns Mountain Road died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Elder Care.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home, Northcrest Chapel in China Grove, N.C., with the Rev. Gene Bost officiating. Burial will be at Carolina Memorial Park.
A native of Rowan County, N.C., Mrs. Dowd was involved with Rowan County React and the American Legion.
She was the widow of Benny W. Dowd.
Surviving are her son, Norman Shue of California; three daughters, Debra S. Murphy and Tammy Stepp, both of Salisbury, and Marlene Smith of Rockwell, N.C.; her sister, Mildred Fesperman of York; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the funeral home.

Gregg Feaster Jr.
CHESTER - Gregg Allen Feaster Jr., the infant son of Gregg Feaster Sr. and Patricia Howze Feaster of 869 Cornwell Road, died Friday, January 23, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Armenia Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. J.E. Darby officiating.
Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Lamont Dupree Howze of the home; his sister, Deasha Howze Feaster of the home; his maternal grandmother, Rene Howze of Chester; his paternal grandparents, Charlie C. and Mary Lee Feaster of Chester; his paternal great-grandmother, Ida Shannon of Chester; and his maternal great-grandmother, Annie McMiller of Chester.
The family will receive friends at the home.
King's Funeral Home is in charge.

James Smith
HICKORY GROVE - Mr. James Junior Smith, 66, of 5930 Highway 97 died Thursday, January 22, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at John Chapel Fire Baptize Holiness Church in Hickory Grove, with the Rev. E.D. Lawson officiating.
A native of York County, he was a member of John Chapel Fire Baptize Holiness Church, where he served as a deacon, assistant superintendent of the Sunday school and missionary worker. He was a member of the A.P. & B. Society Lodge 33 and was a retired employee of Eagle Construction Company.
Surviving are three sons, James Christopher Smith of York, Jeffery J. Smith of Hickory Grove and Frederick Eugene Smith of the home; four daughters, Glenda Leach of Hickory Grove, Cora Lee Neal, Susie Smith and Sanda Leach, all of York; his brother, William Smith of Thomasville, N.C.; his sister, Marie Davis of Hickory Grove; his grandmother; and 17 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at John Chapel F.B. Holiness Church. The body will be placed in the church at 5 p.m. Monday. The body will lie in state at 2 p.m. Tuesday at John Chapel F.B. Holiness Church.
Foster Funeral Home of Gaffney is in charge of arrangements.

Allen Swanger Sr.
YORK - Mr. Allen R. Swanger Sr., 81, of 614 Mount Gallant Road died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, with the Rev. Thomas Little officiating and the Revs. Talmadge Bass and R. E. Murray assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.
Born in Newport, Tenn., Mr. Swanger was a charter member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of God, where he was serving on the board of trustees and was a former Sunday school superintendent. He was retired from Springs Industries, where he worked as a card tender for nearly 20 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, where he served as an M.P.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Vertie Hall Swanger; two sons, Allen R. Shanger Jr. of York and Charles W. Swanger of Rock Hill; his daughter, Glenda L. Culbertson of Rock Hill; two brothers, Robert Swanger of Newport, Tenn., and Frank Swanger of Concord, N.C.; three sisters, Anna McNabb of Mount Holly, N.C., Lester Brockwell of Newport, Tenn., and Frances Warner of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Mencie Smith
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mencie Reeder Smith died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Clemons Funeral Home.

Jessie Wasson
LAWRENCEBURG, Tenn. - Mrs. Jessie Elizabeth Roby Wasson, 82, died Saturday, January 24, 1998, at Union County Hospice in Monroe, N.C.
The funeral will be announced at a later date.
Born in Kentucky, she was a member of The First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceburg, Tenn. She graduated from the University of Kentucky and was a school librarian. She was a member and past president of the Rowans, an auxiliary of The Rotary International.
She was the widow of H.L. Wasson.
Surviving are her son, J.C. Wasson of Fort Mill; two sisters, Bernie Gephart of Middletown, Ohio, and Jane Clewett of Evanston, Ill.; and her grandson.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill is in charge of arrangements.

George W. Bland
CHESTER - Mr. George W. Bland, 76, of 514 Devine St. died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronnie Green officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
A native of Chester County, Mr. Bland was retired from Springs Industries, and was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended Chester County public schools.
Surviving are his wife, Minnie Benson Bland; five sons, George B. Bland, Robert W. Bland, Ricky Bland, Jimmie M. Bland and William L. Bland, all of Chester; his daughter, Kathy B. Hall of Chester; two sisters, Sophie Lambert and Luedith Broom, both of Rock Hill; 23 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
