William Brown

DENVER, Colo. - Mr. William Oliver "Otto" Brown, 59, formerly of York, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at Sable Care Center in Denver.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pipkin Mortuary, with the Rev. James Harris officiating. Burial will be at Fort Logan Cemetery in Denver.

Mr. Brown was a native of York.

Surviving are his son, William Oliver Brown Jr. of Denver; three daughters, Tina Adams of York and Franshon Brown and Rachel Brown, both of Denver; his brother, Andrew Willis Brown of Charlotte; four sisters, Helen Wade, Delmarie Brown and Wanda Barnette, all of York, and Rita Barnette of High Point, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 9 tonight at Pipkin Funeral Home, 2531 Adgen Road, Denver,

Wright Funeral Home in York is in charge of local arrangements.

Nancy Eubanks

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nancy Snipes Eubanks, 58, of 1114 E. White St. died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. at the Eubanks family lot at the Graniteville Cemetery in Graniteville.

Mrs. Eubanks was a native of Rock Hill.

Surviving are her husband, Dalton "Jerry" Eubanks; her son, Tim Snipes of Stewartville, Minn.; two stepsons, Boris Eubanks of San Francisco and Raphael Eubanks of New Bern, N.C.; her stepdaughter, Lynn Snipes of Lexington; her brother, Roger "Vern" Snipes of Dallas; two sisters, Delane Ayers and Margaret Ratterree, both of Rock Hill; and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be sent to Eastside Baptist Church, 318 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Virginia Martin

YORK - Mrs. Virginia "Jean" McCalister Martin, 67, of 351 Sutton Springs Road died Monday, July 27, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at York Funeral Home, with the Rev. Todd Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Martin was a retired finisher for Sullivan Carson Co.

Surviving are four sons, Jerry Dean Martin, Steven Ross Martin and Timothy O'Hara Martin, all of York, and Michael Randolph Martin of Clover; her brother, Bob McCalister of Clover; three sisters, Margaret M. Chandler and Ruth M. Brown, both of Rock Hill, and Sylvia M. Carnes of York; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Rosetta Wallace

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Rosetta Gettys Wallace of 128 Barber St. died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, with Brother George Pugh officiating and the Rev. W. Thomas Massey assisting. Burial will be at Tabernacle AME Zion Church cemetery.

Mrs. Wallace was a native of Mecklenburg County. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness. She attended York County public schools.

Surviving are her brother, Floyd Gettys Sr. of Lesslie; her sister, Mrs. Joe Hefner of Charlotte; and her cousin with whom she lived, Estelle R. White.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.

Ira Wheeler Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ira Edward "Red" Wheeler Sr., 84, of 166 Shurley St. died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at West End Baptist Church, with the Revs. John Shehan and Billy Shytle officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Wheeler was a member of Park Ridge Baptist Church. He was retired from Swaim Oil Co. after 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Gladden Wheeler; three sons, Fred Wheeler of Greenwich, N.Y., Ed Wheeler Jr. of Corinth, N.Y., and Tommy Wheeler of Rock Hill; four daughters, Anne Hargett, Winky Staton, Janice Fortner and Martha Stevenson, all of Rock Hill; his sister, Dixie Gladden of Rock Hill; 22 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Park Ridge Baptist Church, 620 W. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Ann Zacharski

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ann Beatrice "Aunt Tootsie" Zacharski of White Oak Manor died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Zacharski, a native of York County, lived in Chicago for many years, where she was a member of the True Temple of Solomon. She was a retired laundress and was a homemaker.

Surviving are her husband, Stanley Zacharski; her son, Stanley Zacharski of Rock Hill; two daughters, Lucille Jefferson of Bellwood, Ill., and Sandra Harris of Rock Hill; 10 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the church.

Clemons Funeral Home is in charge.

J. Alfred Smith

ROCK HILL - Mr. James Alfred "Al" Smith, 80, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Glencairn Garden, with the Rev. Edsel Bryan officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Smith was a retired independent truck driver. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4196 in Poplarville, Miss., an Army veteran of World War II and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his son, Mike Smith of Rock Hill; his stepson, Rex Reecer of Missouri; his stepdaughter, Sherry Spivey Sparks of Bloomington, Ill.; his sister, Mary Ellen Altum of Decatur, Ill.; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends after the memorial service.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.
