Richard Blackburn Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Richard Blackburn Jr., 80, of 2211 Farlow St. died Thursday, Feb. 18, 1999, at his home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Word is Life Temple, with Dr. Micheal Spenser officiating and the Rev. Jason Jenkins assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Blackburn was employed for 25 years at Leake & Watts Children's Home in Yonkers, N.Y., as a maintenance man. He was a member of Rainbow Higher Dimension, was a deacon at his church and attended New York public schools.

Surviving are his wife, Viola B. Blackburn; two daughters, Elzina Pickett of Hawley, Pa., and Gwendolyn Housey of Yonkers; and six grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 6 tonight at Parker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Solid Rock Going Fort Ministries and other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday.

Ada Couch

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ada McManus Couch, 87, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Lynnwood United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tony Adams officiating. Burial will be at Westside Cemetery.

Mrs. Couch was retired from Springs Industries. A native of Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Jess McManus and Mary Ellen Carnes McManus. She was a member of Lynnwood United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her brother, Lyde McManus of Great Falls; and two sisters, Marie Thomas and Rosa Lane, both of Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to Lynnwood United Methodist Church, 1753 Lynnwood Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge.

Kenneth Davis

YORK - Mr. Kenneth Ray Davis, 42, of 1 Center St. died Friday, Feb. 19, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Dr. C.J. Jenkins officiating and the Revs. Johnny Burris, Caldwell Culp, Mildred Patton and Melvin Douglas assisting. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.

Mr. Davis was a plate operator laboratory technician at AMP Inc. in Rock Hill. He was a graduate of Lowell High School and Lowell College in Lowell, Mass. He also received degrees from Gaston College in Dallas, N.C. He was licensed to treat water in 36 states and was a computer operator. A former government employee, he worked with the missile program.

Surviving are his wife, Vanessa E. Davis of Rock Hill; five sons, Kenneth Tyrone Curry, Shawn Curry, Damitrus Curry, all of Gastonia, N.C., and Tezo Ervin and Aaron Ervin, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Jade Emerald Davis and Rosalind Ervin, both of Rock Hill; his parents, Gloria and Charles Agurs, both of the home; four brothers, Willie Eric Adams Davis and Jay Harris Davis, both of York, and Abraham Davis and Solomon Davis, both of Dallas, N.C.; his sister, Alexis Davis of Dallas, N.C.; his step-grandmother, Mamie Agurs of Chester; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Home AME Zion Church and at other times at the home.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.

Cayleigh Grant

CHESTER - Cayleigh Jordan Grant, the infant daughter of Thomas P. Grant II and Kimberly D. Dodds Grant, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Will Heustess officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her grandparents, Thomas P. Grant Jr., Jessie Wages, Mr. and Mrs. David Dodds, Mr. and Mrs. Luther Allen, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert R. Roof and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Franklin, all of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

Carole Irby

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carole Wilson Irby, 55, died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lando Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Devinney and Dr. Richard D. Harrison officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

Mrs. Irby was retired from the quality control department at Meko Metal Finishing. She worked for many years at Smith Enterprises. She was a member of Lando Baptist Church and the Serenity Club in Rock Hill. She was the widow of Roland N. Irby.

Surviving are two sons, Darryl C. Irby and Roland Bryan Irby, both of Rock Hill; her mother, Irene Alley Wilson of Richburg; and her sister, Norma Wilson of Richburg.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Lando Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 198, Lando, SC 29724.

Larry Marcengill

CHESTER - Mr. Larry Hunter Marcengill, 51, of 2282 Neely Gibson Road died Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wright's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Forrest J. Musselman officiating and the Rev. William F. Mitchell assisting.

Mr. Marcengill was the owner of Larry's Grading Service. A native of Oconee County, he was the son of Edna Orr Marcengill and the late William Hunter Marcengill.

Surviving in addition to his mother is his wife, Deborah Riddle Marcengill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Wright's Funeral Home.

James Mills Sr.

GREAT FALLS - Mr. James Daniel Mills Sr., 77, of 547 Miles Road died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, with the Rev. Mike Sollars officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mr. Mills was the son of the late Arsh Mills and Sally McCoy Mills. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God and attended Union County schools.

Surviving are his wife, Geneva S. Mills; his son, James Daniel Mills Jr. of Great Falls; his daughter, Betty Mills Clark of Rock Hill; two brothers, Henry Mills of Monroe, N.C., and Bob Mills of Concord, N.C.; three sisters, Christine Mills Sistare of Marshville, N.C., and Pauline Keziah and Fay Blackmon, both of Pageland; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
