Beulah McKandes

WASHINGTON - Mrs. Beulah Barnette McKandes, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at George Washington General Hospital in Washington, D.C.

The funeral will be Tuesday at Fort Lincoln Funeral Home Chapel in Brentwood, Md.

Surviving are her daughter, Roberta Jones of Richmond, Va.; three brothers, William Barnette of Catawba, Roscoe Barnette of Rock Hill and Auther Barnette of Columbus, Ohio; and three sisters, Anna Isom of Rock Hill and Alberta Stowe and Maggie Steele of Charlotte.

Harold Nichols

LANCASTER - Mr. Harold Nichols, 67, of 1640 Home Circle died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster chapel, with the Revs. N.J. Neely and Tommy Cole officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Bishopville, Mr. Nichols was retired from the J.P. Stevens Company and worked at the Kershaw Golf Course. He was a member of the former South Avenue Free Will Baptist Church.

Surviving are four sons, Harold L. Nichols of Myrtle Beach, Robert E. Nichols of Lancaster and David Stacks and Robert K. Stacks, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Angela Kimbrell and Retha Eargle, both of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren; and his special companion, Nancy Outen of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Robert Nichols, 2076 Dover Lane in Lancaster.

Arthur Perdue

ROCK HILL - Mr. Arthur "Pete" Benjamin Perdue, 61, of 115 Ross Road died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bass Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Terry Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Chesterfield County, Mr. Perdue was a retired winder at Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. and was a vender at the Venders Gallery.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Perdue; his daughter, Debra Ngo of Rock Hill; three sons, William Benjamin Perdue of Chester, Billy James Perdue Sr. of Rock Hill and Tommy Eugene Perdue of York; his sister, Frances Jordan of Jefferson; three brothers, George D. Perdue of Hartwell, Ga., Louie Perdue of Lancaster and Wayne Perdue of Patrick; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and at other times in the home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care or the American Cancer Society.

Henry Sapough

ROCK HILL - Mr. Henry C. Sapough, 88, of 3163 Homestead Road died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Beverly Health Care.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Revs. Charles Mitchell and Jack Basie officiating.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Sapough was retired from the Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. After his retirement, he farmed and will be remembered for growing beautiful Japanese Irises he grew at home in honor of his wife. He was also a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Frank P. Sapough of Rock Hill and Lyle B. Sapough of Providence, Ohio; his brother, Roy Sapough of Aiken; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

William Shillinglaw

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Massey Shillinglaw, 79, of 2610 Lesslie Hwy. died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Neely's Creek ARP Church, with the Rev. Bill Fleming officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Van Wyck, Mr. Shillinglaw was a lifetime member of Neely's Creek ARP Church, where he served as deacon. Mr. Shillinglaw was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.

Surviving are his wife, Sara Blanks Shillinglaw; his son, Michael Shillinglaw of Rock Hill; his sister, Louise S. McKinney of Rock Hill; and his granddaughter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Neely's ARP Church.

Johnnie Steele

ROCK HILL - Mr. Johnnie Steele, 77, of 2668 Crystal Creek Drive died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Friday at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Steele was a retired electrical engineer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church, where he was a member of the choir and a trustee.

He was a Mason and a member of Integrity Lodge No. 51. He was a member of the Eastern Star, Fidelity Chapter No. 15. He attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are his son, William Gus Steele of Paterson, N.J.; two daughters, Johnnie S. Russell of Rock Hill and Laura K. Gore of Dover, N.J.; his adopted daughter, Dale Smith of Paterson, N.J.; his brother, Richard Fewell of Bridgeport, Conn.; four sisters, Tommie F. Hinton and Betty Hailey, both of Bridgeport, Conn., Catherine Hall and Evelyn F. Johnson, both of Rock Hill; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cross Road Baptist Church.

The body will be taken to the church at 11:30 a.m. Friday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Sali Byrd-Felder

CLOVER - Sali Ali Shakur Byrd-Felder of 1087 Lawrence Road died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

She was the 16-day-old infant daughter of Suzette Byrd of Clover and Jarvis Felder of Jersey City, N.J.

Surviving in addition to her parents are three brothers, Jarvis Byrd-Felder Jr., Charles Byrd and Armani Byrd of the home; two stepsisters, Kamilyah Felder and Shaheida Felder of New Jersey; her paternal grandmother, Ophelia Felder of Jersey City; her maternal grandparents, Leo and Annie Byrd of Clover; and her maternal great-grandmother, Everetta Jackson of New Jersey.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Generation Funeral Home is in charge.
