William McCorkle

ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Dub" McCorkle of 583 Rauch St. died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Hancock officiating and the Revs. Charles Kiser and Mary Alston, along with Sister Ethel Agurs assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. McCorkle was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church.

Surviving are three grandchildren; nieces; and nephews.

The body may be viewed from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Monday.

The family will receive friends at the home of Gloria Burris, 1173 Stanley Drive, Rock Hill.

L.D. Parker

CHARLOTTE - The Rev. L.D. Parker, 75, of 5613 Anderson Road died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Hawthorne officiating. The Rev. Vernon Worthy will give the eulogy. Burial will be Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Rev. Parker attended Johnson C. Smith University, Teamer School of Religion and Shaw University. He worked at Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools, Biggers Brothers and GMC. He was the pastor at First Baptist Church in Kershaw for nine years and St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church for the past 45 years.

He was a member of Silver Set Lodge No. 327. He was the moderator of Lane Creek Missionary Association for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Ministerial Conference and served as president and secretary.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Tanner Parker; two sons, Leon Parker and E. Charles Parker, both of Charlotte; his daughter, Mitzy J. Parker of Charlotte; two sisters, Jannie Roseboro and Henrietta Davis, both of Charlotte; and his grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. and at other times at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Monday.

Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill is in charge.

Eugenia Barron

YORK - Mrs. Eugenia "Jeannie" Horton Jackson Barron, 69, of 5 Broad St. died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at York ARP Church, with the Rev. Billy Barron officiating and the Rev. Donald Lowery assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Barron attended York schools and graduated from York High School in 1948. She graduated from Lees-McRae College in 1948 and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees at Winthrop College. She was a retired high school teacher and taught in York and Rock Hill for 36 years. She coached many students in state and national speech competitions.

Surviving are her husband, John I. Barron; five sons, Thomas Elliott Jackson Jr. of York, John Ingram Barron III of Rock Hill, the Rev. William Langley Barron of Merritt Island, Fla., Charles Auld Barron of Belmont, N.C., and Thomas Anderson Barron of Clemson; three sisters, Jeanette Horton Kelly, Elizabeth Horton Hall and Laura B. Horton, all of York; and 10 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at York Funeral Home.

Willie Catoe

KERSHAW - Mr. Willie Cleveland Catoe, 92, of 6439 N. Matson St. died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Hugh McKinney officiating. Burial will be in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mr. Catoe was a member of Second Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are three daughters, Edna Horton of Lancaster, and Wilma Robertson and Willie Belle Lucas, both of Kershaw; his sister, Maggie Faulkenberry of Kershaw; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Ruth Cockrell

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ruth Steele Cockrell, 88, of 2311 Country Club Drive died Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at White Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bobby Bailey officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Cockrell was a homemaker and taught piano lessons for many years. She was a member of White Springs Baptist Church, where she was the organist for 35 years.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Cockrell and Bill "Monk" Cockrell, both of Lancaster; her sister, Sarah Taylor of Lexington; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to White Springs Baptist Church, 1249 Grace Ave., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Stephanie Culp

FORT MILL - Stephanie Nicole Culp, the infant daughter of Jonathon Wayne and Jaclyn Suzanne Collins Culp of 1492 Hensley Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral was 11 a.m. yesterday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Park.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her twin sister, Alisha Michelle Culp of the home; her sister, Jessica Culp of York; her brother, Jonathon Christian Culp of the home; her paternal grandparents, Johnsie Robison and Joseph Culp of Rock Hill; her maternal grandparents, Jerry and Cecilia Collins of Fort Mill; and her paternal great-grandmother, Pansy Ratterree of Rock Hill.

William Falls

CLOVER - Mr. William Joseph Falls of 116 Pinewood Drive died Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Clover First Baptist Church, with the Revs. David Stanford and Paul Hutchison officiating.

Mr. Falls was a member of Clover First Baptist and Clover United Methodist churches. He was owner and operator of Falls Auto Sales in Bessemer City. He was a member of the Masonic Alpine Lodge 208 and a Shriner and served in the National Guard. He was a past Sunday school teacher and deacon at First Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Judy F. Falls; his sons, Scott Falls of the home; his daughter, Leslee Falls of the home; his brother, Max Falls of Bessemer City, N.C.; and his sister, Faye F. Williams of Lake Wylie.

The family will receive friends at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
