James Robinson Sr.

CLOVER - Mr. James Alexander Robinson Sr., 84, of 3181 South Highway 321 died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at White Oak Manor in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. David Stanford and James Sams officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York County, Mr. Robinson was a lifelong member of Clover First Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, teller and treasurer. He retired from Westinghouse as a powerhouse operator.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Goforth Robinson; three sons, Bill Robinson of Lexington, James Robinson of Rock Hill and Joe Robinson of Clover; two daughters, Patricia R. Sams of Swannanoa, N.C., and Carolyn R. Farris of Charlotte; three sisters, Grace Kell of Charlotte and Lois Drennan and Pauline Robinson, both of Clover; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 117 S. Main St., Clover, SC 29710 or the Clover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 214, Clover, SC 29710.

Rev. Joseph Self Sr.

ROCK HILL - The Rev. Joseph Edward "Luther" Self Sr., 46, of 314 Community St. died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Presbyterian Hospital in Matthews, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Vision Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Daggett Duncan and Bill Tyson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

The Rev. Self was of the Freewill Baptist faith. He was former pastor of Souls Harbor Freewill Baptist Church in Rock Hill. He was a member and vice president of the Association of Independent Ministries and distributed tapes with the Trucker Ministry. He was a truck driver with D&L Products of Monroe, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Debra Williams Self; his son, Joseph E. "Jody" Self Jr. of Rock Hill; his daughter, Tammy Jo Self of the home; four brothers, Roger Eugene Dorsey of Chickamauga, Ga., Randy H. Self and Harvey L. Self, both of Rock Hill, and Clarence Rochelle Price of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Second Chance Ministries, 646 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Geneva Smith-Woodbury

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Mrs. Geneva Smith-Woodbury, formerly of Chester, died Friday, Feb. 5, 1999.

The funeral will be Saturday in Sacramento.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra Woodbury-Jones of the home; two brothers, David Lee Smith of Chester and Crosby Smith of Pittsburgh; and her grandchild.

Thompson's Funeral Home of Sacramento is in charge.

Denton Funeral Home in Chester is in charge of local arrangements.

Bernitha Armstrong

ROCK HILL - Ms. Bernitha Ann Armstrong, 39, of 289 Blanche Circle died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at True Word of God Fire Baptized Holiness Church in York, with the Rev. Patricia Starr officiating. Burial will be at Uniondale Cemetery in York.

A native of York, Ms. Armstrong was a member of True Word of God Fire Baptized Holiness Church.

Surviving are her son, Dontay Armstrong; her daughter, Anisha Armstrong of Rock Hill; her father, Clarence Armstrong of Baltimore; two nieces whom she raised, Latoya Armstrong and Jessie Armstrong, both of the home; five brothers, Randy Bratton, Kenneth Nelson Armstrong, and Alphonzo Armstrong, all of Gastonia, N.C., Nelson Armstrong and Nathaniel Armstrong, both of Baltimore; her sister, Joy Armstrong of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at True Word of God Fire Baptized Holiness Church.

Jasper Boone Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Jasper Lee "Jackie" Boone Jr., 29, of 110 Gooch St. died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 1999, in Fort Mill.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at West Side Cemetery, with the Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating.

Mr. Boone was a tire technician at Cody Tire Co. He was a member of West Side Baptist Church.

Surviving are his father, Jasper Lee "Jack" Boone of Kershaw; four brothers, William W. Boone of Pageland, Richard Boyce Boone of Florida, Jason Lee Boone and Jacob Lee Boone, both of Camden; his stepsister, Pebbles Clyburn of Camden; and his step mother, Veronica Parker of Camden.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

George Brownlow III

FORT MILL - George W. Brownlow III, 50, of 152 Sea Island Blvd. died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at home.

The graveside service will be 10 a.m. today at Islamic Society of Gastonia, N.C., with the Khalifi Ali Rashid officiating.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Tega Cay Club House.

Mr. Brownlow was manager of Parnell-Martin Plumbing Supplies in Charlotte.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Brownlow of Baltimore; two daughters. Sara Kim of Lafayette, Calif., and Brooke Brownlow of Boone, N.C.; two sons, Ryan Brownlow of Clemson and Brian Hix of Albuquerque, N.M.; two brothers, Sandy Brownlow of Palm City, Fla., and Randy Brownlow of Greensboro, N.C.; his sister, Bette Brownlow of Greensboro, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

Thompson Funeral Home of York is in charge.

Charlie Culp

EDGEMOOR - Mr. Charlie Culp of 4435 Culp Road in Edgemoor died Sunday, Feb. 7, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Harmony United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Shuler officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Culp attended public schools in Chester County. He was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geneva Culp; five daughters, Charlie Mae Stevenson, Betty Jean Young, Fannie Mae Baxter, Geneva Culp, all of Edgemoor, and Margurite Pitts of New York; six sons, Otis Culp, Heyward Culp, Calvin Culp and Lawrence Culp, all of Edgemoor, James Culp of Rock Hill and William Culp of Great Falls; his brother, Frank Culp of New York; his sister, Dosier Mae Moore of Cleveland, Ohio; 69 grandchildren; 132 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Christopher King's Funeral Home, 703 Old York Road, Chester, is in charge.
