Ruth Feemster

YORK - Mrs. Ruth Bigger Feemster, 80, of 2850 York Highway died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Horace Story officiating.

Mrs. Feemster was a homemaker and widow of Hugh Edger "Ed" Feemster. She was a member of York First Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Phillip Feemster, Eddie Feemster, and Teddie Feemster, all of York; her daughter, Linda F. Feemster of York; her sister, Martha Bigger Stewart of York; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 236, York, SC 29745 or the American Diabetes Association, National Center 1660 Duke St., Alexandria, Va. 22314.

John Lightner

ROCK HILL - Mr. John Lightner of 208 Scoggins St. died Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Hancock officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Lightner was a native of Fairfield County and was a retired Springs Industries employee. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and a member of the Men's Choir, Hymn Choir and the Brotherhood. He was a Mason and was a member of the Sunset Park Community Club. He attended the public schools of Fairfield County. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta Land Lightner; two sons, Johnny Lightner of Rock Hill and Jimmy Lightner of Irmo; seven daughters, Mary Ellen Lightner, Johnsie Washington, Martha Ann Abercrombie, Veola Bradley, Margaret Ratchford, and Helen Rutherford, all of Rock Hill, and Vanessa Watkins of Las Vegas; his brother, Joseph Brown of Charlotte; four sisters, Mary D. Jones and Annie Ruth Strong, both of Charlotte, T. Helen Thomas of North Augusta and Minnie L. Hampton of Pittsburgh; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. today and the family will receive friends at 2 p.m. today at the church.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Betty Miller

FORT MILL - Mrs. Betty Zane Miller, 71, of 130 Fox Run Drive died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral service will be private.

Mrs. Miller was a writer and poet. She was of the Protestant faith.

Surviving are her husband, Robert R. Miller of the home; four daughters, Rebecca Rooks of Charlotte, Donna Miller of Lexington, N.C., Peggy Afkinich and Julie Connelly, both of Rock Hill; her brother, Hans "Sonny" Wagner of Rock Hill; two sisters, Sue Nichols of Fort Lawn and Norma Miller of Fort Mill; and 11 grandchildren.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Jessie Mitchell

ROCK HILL - Mr. Jessie J. Mitchell of 430 Hagins St. died Tuesday, Feb. 9, 1999, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Daniel Chisholm officiating and the Rev. Hattie Foster assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Mitchell was a native of Fairfield County and attended the public school of Fairfield County. He was employed by Metrolina Trust.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Louise Mitchell; four sons, Jessie Adams of Ohio, Jessie James Mitchell Jr., Charles Mitchell and Jessie Sheles, all of Rock Hill; six daughters, Sarah Mitchell, Telsia Steele, Loretta Mitchell, Jennifer Steele, Lavoya Patterson, and Bridget Steele, all of Rock Hill; two brothers, Ralph Junior Mitchell and Sammie Lee Mitchell, both of Rock Hill; eight sisters, Dorothy Massey and Willie Mae Mitchell, both of Rock Hill, Hattie Louise Dixon of Gastonia, N.C., McHalley Mann, Martha Nash, Rosetta Mitchell, Loretha Mitchell, all of Montclair, Calif., and Betty Jean Down of Missouri; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday.

Coleen Mullinax

BLACKSBURG - Mrs. Coleen Mullinax, 54, of 337 Old Yorkville Road, died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at the home of her daughter.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Lighthouse Baptist Church, with Cecil Martin and the Rev. Grady Gregory officiating. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

A native of Gaffney, Mrs. Mullinax was the widow of Edward McDaniel Jr.

Surviving are her daughter, Darlene Carroll of Smyrna; her mother, Sally Martin Mullinax of Blacksburg; her sister, Teresa Harris of Blacksburg; two brothers, Bobby Mullinax of Blacksburg and Jerry Mullinax of York; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at White Columns Blacksburg and at other times at the home of her daughter, Darlene Carroll, 653 Rock Cut Road, Smyrna.

James Ridgley Sr.

TEGA CAY - Mr. James Robert Ridgley Sr., 59, of 1040 Woodlake Lane died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Raymond Phillips officiating.

Mr. Ridgley was employed with the Siemens Corp. as an applications engineer.

Surviving are his wife, Esther Wilson Ridgley; his son, James Robert Ridgley Jr. of Reno, Nev.; his daughter, Tamara Nalley of Fort Mill; his mother, Aline Stone Ridgley of Vincennes, Ind.; his brother, O. Andy Ridgley of Tucson, Ariz.; his sister, Jeannie Ferry of Irwin, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 500 E. Morehead St., Suite 211, Charlotte, NC 28202.

Carnene Skinner

LANCASTER - Mrs. Carnene Jean Spencer Skinner, 60, of 160 Ranson Road died Friday, Feb. 12, 1999, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Rex Faile, Marvin Tennant, and Lacy Jones officiating. Burial will be Lancaster Memorial Park.

A homemaker, Mrs. Skinner was a member of the Church of the Living God.

Surviving are her husband, Clyde Skinner; three daughters, Kathryn George, Sherry Outen and Terry Skinner, all of Lancaster; her brother, Vernon Lee Nichols of Catawba; four sisters, Karen South, Jackie Moseley, both of Lancaster, Orlene Pippit of Redland, Calif., and Sharon Gillen of Hemmit, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
