Ellaree Gist

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Ellaree Gist, 62, of 923 Albert St. died Friday, March 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Boyd Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. George H. Lowery officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Born in York County, Mrs. Gist was retired from Hoechst Celanese Corp., Celriver Plant, after 21 years as a janitor. She graduated from Emmett Scott High School in 1955 and was a member of Mount Do Well Baptist Church in McConnells.

Surviving are her husband, Jessie Gist of the home; three sons, Jessie Lee Gist and Freddie Gist, both of Rock Hill, and Alvin Gist of Columbia; two daughters, Delores Adams of Rock Hill and Elaine Gist of Columbia; her sister, Lula Mae Williams of Rock Hill; her niece whom she reared, Patricia Hyman of York; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from noon to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Parker Funeral Home is in charge.

Nevada Moffatt (1 of 2)

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Nevada Curbeam Moffatt, 63, of 408 S. Spruce St. died Monday, March 9, 1998, at her home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Leslie Moffatt (2 of 2)

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Leslie Nevada "Vate" Moffatt, 63, of 408 S. Spruce St. died Monday, March 9, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. Thompson officiating and the Revs. J.E. Darby, Aggie Brown and Charles Kaiser assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Moffatt attended Turner's Elementary School and graduated from Sollers Point High School in Baltimore. She was employed by Western Electric for 28 years and at Loyola College in Baltimore. She attended Fewell Park craft classes in Rock Hill. She was a member of City Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and organized and advised the Pastor's Aide. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church and Dalton Baptist Church in Baltimore, where she was a vice-president and secretary of the gospel choir and a member of the Pastor's Aide.

Surviving are her husband, James Moffatt; two sons, Sheldon Levi and Jason Levi, both of Baltimore; three daughters, Ann Powbey of Algeria, Africa, Janice Carver of Hawaii and Yvonne Calder of Virginia Beach, Va.; her parents, Willie and Beatrice Curbeam of Baltimore; three brothers, Robert Curbeam of Quinton, Va., Thomas Curbeam of Baltimore and James Curbeam of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Lettie Bratcher of Baltimore and Barbara Waddell of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at King's Funeral Home.

Joseph Motsinger

CLOVER - Mr. Joseph Glen Motsinger, 82, of 550 Brandon Road died Sunday, March 8, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Graham Crawford officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Born in Forsythe County, N.C., Mr. Motsinger was co-owner of Mott's Oil Equipment & Service in Charlotte.

Surviving are his wife, Ruby Ballard Motsinger; his son, Melvin L. Motsinger of Clover; his daughter, Hilda M. Thompson of Charlotte; his sister, Vera Brann of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Emmie Threatt

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Emmie Mae Toole Threatt, 91, of 18 Hampton St. died Monday, March 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born in Aiken County, Mrs. Threatt attended Aiken County schools and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and was the widow of Andrew Threatt.

Surviving are five daughters, Margaret Riddle and Doris Walters, both of Great Falls, Betty Hartley of St. Augustine, Fla., Barbara Patton of Gaston and Kathy Ware of Orlando, Fla.; her brother, Robert L. Toole of Great Falls; two sisters, Ruth Wooten and Dorothy Cook, both of Wagener; and 18 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Ruby Corder

WEST COLUMBIA - Mrs. Ruby Ayers Corder, 55, of 17 Lonely St. died Tueday, March 10, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Harry Widener officiating and the Rev. Dennis Ayers assisting. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery.

A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Corder was a homemaker and a member of Central Nazarene Church.

Surviving are her son, Dean Corder of Myrtle Beach; her daughter, Teresa D. Blackwood of Rock Hill; her brother, Pete Ayers of Rock Hill; two sisters, Faye Pittman of Rock Hill and Kathleen Boyd of Fort Mill; and two granddaughters.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Ebbie Ferrell

CHESTER - Mr. Ebbie Ross Ferrell, 72, formerly of Route 3, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Dorn V.A. Medical Center Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Armenia United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenny Compton officiating.

Mr. Ferrell was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are two sons, Tony Ferrell of Great Falls and Eric Ferrell of Chester; two daughters, Dian Perry and Crystal Banks, both of Great Falls; six brothers, Charles Ferrell, Dewey Ferrell, Zebbie Ferrell, Bobby Ferrell, Roy Ferrell and Wayne Ferrell, all of Chester; two sisters, Juanita Dodds and Myrtle Ferrell, both of Chester; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Funeral Home.

Grace Helms

YORK - Mrs. Grace Pearl Crider Helms, 85, of 2401 S.C Highway 161 died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Alan Price officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Helms was a member of Union Baptist Church.

Surviving are four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.
