Gertrude Hendrix

KERSHAW - Mrs. Gertrude Elizabeth Price Hendrix, 76, of 306 E. Stevens Drive died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Moncrief Hospital at Fort Jackson.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Beaver Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Hugh McKinney officiating.

Born in Jefferson, Mrs. Hendrix was a homemaker, a member of Kershaw Second Baptist Church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post No. 8990, Westville.

Surviving are her husband, Luther Tillman Hendrix; two sons, John L. Hendrix of Alexandria, Va., and Ben T. Hendrix of Kershaw; her daughter, Letha Ann Spinks of Kershaw; her brother, George Price of Concord, N.C.; three sisters, Evelyn P. Harris and Iva Lee Payne, both of Kershaw, and Ruth Roberts of Columbia; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the VFW National Children's Home, 3573 South Waverly Road, Eaton Rapids, MI 48827.

Corey McKenzie

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Corey Lynn McKenzie, 24, of Lake Wateree died Sunday, March 8, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Great Falls Church of God, with the Revs. Jerry Love, James Grant and Lee Black officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mr. McKenzie was a forklift operator at Willamette Industries and attended Great Falls schools.

Surviving are his wife, Joann W. McKenzie; his son, Gerald Corey McKenzie of the home; his daughter, Ashley Marie McKenzie of the home; his parents, Gerald and Emily McKenzie of Great Falls; his brother, Scott McKenzie of Great Falls; his sister, Tina Baker of Tripp, S.D.; and his paternal grandparents, Harry and Roseanna McKenzie of Great Falls.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Greenlawn Cemetery memorial fund, P.O. Box 462, Great Falls, SC 29055.

Mallie McKenzie

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mallie Monroe McKenzie, 90, of 1228 Winthrop Drive died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Oakland Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Shrum and the Rev. Bo Coleman officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

A Honea Path native, Mrs. McKenzie was a 1928 graduate of Greenville Woman's College, now Furman University, and taught in the public schools of Wagner, Donalds and Rock Hill until her retirement. She was a charter member of Oakland Baptist Church, where she was a Sunbeam leader, a Sunday school teacher and pianist. The Mallie McKenzie Circle is named for her. She was a Pink Lady at the Rock Hill hospitals, a board member of the York County Cancer Association and a retired member of the York County Education Association.

She was the widow of Jerry F. McKenzie Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Jerry F. McKenzie III of Rock Hill and Robert Alexander McKenzie of Columbia; two daughters, Ann McKenzie of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Rebecca McKenzie Little of Greenville; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Oakland Baptist Church, 1067 Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Leslie Moffatt

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Leslie Nevada "Vate" Moffatt, 63, of 408 S. Spruce St. died Monday, March 9, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. Thompson officiating and the Revs. J.E. Darby, Aggie Brown and Charles Kaiser assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Moffatt attended Turner's Elementary School and graduated from Sollers Point High School in Baltimore. She was employed by Western Electric for 28 years and at Loyola College in Baltimore. She attended Fewell Park craft classes in Rock Hill. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member of the choir and organized and advised the Pastor's Aide. She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church and Dalton Baptist Church in Baltimore, where she was a vice-president and secretary of the gospel choir and a member of the Pastor's Aide.

Surviving are her husband, James Moffatt; two sons, Sheldon Levi and Jason Levi, both of Baltimore; three daughters, Ann Powbey of Algeria, Africa, Janice Carver of Hawaii and Yvonne Calder of Virginia Beach, Va.; her parents, Willie and Beatrice Curbeam of Baltimore; three brothers, Robert Curbeam of Quinton, Va., Thomas Curbeam of Baltimore and James Curbeam of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Lettie Bratcher of Baltimore and Barbara Waddell of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

The body may be viewed from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Friday at King's Funeral Home.

Frank Robinson Jr.

KERSHAW - Mr. Frank Robinson Jr., 71, of 109 W. First St. died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Flint Ridge Baptist Church, with the Revs. Steve Neal and Bobby Owens officiating. Burial will be at Buffalo Baptist Church cemetery.

Born in Kershaw, Mr. Robinson was a member of Flint Ridge Baptist Church, was retired from Springs Industries and was a Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Ollie Hunter Robinson; his son, Donald B. Robinson of Lancaster; his daughter, Dale Baker of Great Falls; two brothers, Johnny Robinson of Cheraw and Thomas Robinson of Lancaster; four sisters, Kathleen Vincent and Sue Ann Hinson, both of Kershaw, Virginia Cook of Waynesboro, Va., and Becky Taylor of Fort Mitchell, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Evelyn Rollings

JEFFERSON - Mrs. Evelyn L. Rollings, 78, died Tuesday, March 10, 1998, in Lancaster.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Fork Creek Methodist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Chesterfield County, Mrs. Rollings was the widow of Robert L. Rollings Sr.

Surviving are her son, Robert L. "Amos" Rollings Jr. of Jefferson; her sister, Nancy Boatwright of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Sutton Funeral Home in Pageland.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 155, Jefferson, SC 29718.

Willie Sanders

CHESTER - Mr. Willie "Pop" Sanders, 79, of 516 Denton St. died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at his home.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.L. McClurkin officiating, and the Revs. C.J. Stringfellow and James Hope assisting. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A Chester County native, Mr. Sanders was retired from General Motors in Syracuse, N.Y. He was a part-time driver for the Department of Social Services and Denton Funeral Home. He was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church and a former member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the CB&A Society.

Surviving are his son, Nathaniel Sanders of Baltimore, Md.; three daughters, Geneva Gore and Julia Mae Hardin, both of Chester, and Iberia Sanders of Baltimore; two brothers, Maynardie Sanders of High Point, N.C. and Gillie Sanders of Norfolk, Va.; two sisters, Rachel S. Davison and Flonie Roach, both of Charlotte; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of John Richard and Geneva Gore, 115 MLK Memorial Dr.

The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.
