Sarah Bradley
LANCASTER - Mrs. Sarah Ada Wheeler Bradley, 73, of 1431 Winthrop Ave. died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James D. Spencer III officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Lancaster, Mrs. Bradley was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher. She was retired from Springs Industries. She was the widow of Charlie Edward Bradley Sr.
Surviving are her son, Charlie Edward Bradley Jr. of Germany; three daughters, Linda Etters, Jackie McCorkle and Linda Bailey, all of Lancaster; her brother, Arthur Wheeler of Concord; two sisters, Elizabeth Green of Hattisburg, N.C., and Minna Threatt of Winston-Salem, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church building fund, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Thomas Broome
LANCASTER - Mr. Thomas Broome, 84, of 302 Wylie Park Road died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at McCoy Nursing Home in Bishopville.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Hartley Funeral Home, with the Rev. Curtis Cameron and Bill Sumner officiating. Burial will follow at Long Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Jefferson.
Born in Chesterfield County, Mr. Broome was a retired security guard with Springs Industries, Lancaster plant He also was a member of the Church of God.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Donahue Broome of the home; three sons, Jackie Broome of Lugoff, James Broome and Gary Broome, both of Lancaster; five daughters, Louise Broome Hall of Bishopville, Margie Broome Appleton of Lugoff, Judy Broome Hammond of Lancaster, Frances Broome Coffey of Pensacola, Fla., and Sylvia Broome of the home; two sisters, Ida Mae Donahue of Lancaster and Sadie Mendell of Pensacola, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine step-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Church of God, 1437 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Edna Caldwell
CHESTER - Mrs. Edna Strong Caldwell, 66, of 118 Odom St. died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at King's Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ronald O. McClurkin officiating and the Revs. Eugene Canty, Paul Long, Jessie Boulware and Moses Lightener assisting. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
A Chester native, Mrs. Caldwell was a retired domestic worker. She was a member of Old Wilson Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Fairfield County. She was the widow of Johnny Caldwell.
Surviving are four sons, David Strong of Charlotte, Miller Jackson Jr. and Carlthel Jackson, both of Chester, and Anthony Caldwell of Newberry; four daughters, Florence McClurkin, Lillie Davis and Gloria Lane, all of Chester, and Elaine Osel of Shelby, N.C.; five brothers, Frank Strong of Rock Hill, David Charles Strong of Charlotte, Robert Strong, James Strong and Willie Strong, all of Chester; four sisters, Sarah Mills of Rock Hill, Lugenia Caldwell, Alice Mae Caldwell and Pauline Williams, all of Chester; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Ronald McClurkin, 127 Carr St.

Clara Courtney
LANCASTER - Mrs. Clara Elizabeth "Lib" Rowell Courtney, 85, of 4461 Rowell Road died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Thomas B. Wilkes III officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Born in Lancaster County, Mrs. Courtney was a retired clerk and a member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Fletcher Curlee Courtney of Lancaster; her son, Sam L. Courtney of Lancaster; her daughter, Clara Lee Sexton of Charlotte; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Rev. William Edwards Jr.
CLOVER - The Rev. William Leonard Edwards Jr., 77, of 209 Kings Mountain St. died Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Paul Hutchison, Frank Griffith Jr. and Leon Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Born in Anderson County, the Rev. Edwards was minister emeritus of First United Methodist Church. He was in the S.C. Methodist Conference for 51 years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of Furman University and Candler School of Theology. He was the widower of Wilhelmina Anderson Edwards.
Surviving are his son, W. David Edwards of Clover; three daughters, Rosemary Green of Rock Hill, Martha Anne Meyer of Houston, and Wilhelmina Bourne-Murphy of Richmond, Va.; his brother, Obie Edwards of Anderson; three sisters, Ethel McClure of Warm Springs, Ga., Katherine Scott of Chattanooga, Tenn., and Lillie Miller of Weathersville, Conn.; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, other times at the home and other times at the home of David Edwards, 1915 Berrywood Lane, Clover.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710.

Jessie Kelley
COLUMBIA - Mrs. Jessie Kee Kelley, 84, of 2535 Glenwood Road died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998, at her home.
Burial was at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens.
Born in Chester, Mrs. Kelley was a lifetime member of the Park Street Baptist Church in Columbia. She was the widow of O. B. Kelley Sr.
Surviving are her son, O. B. Kelley Jr. of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; three grandsons; and four great-grandchildren.
Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, was in charge.

Sam Moore
CHESTER - Mr. Sam Moore, 84, of 505 Ashford St. died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Brooklyn Tabernacle AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Sandra Sistar officiating. Burial will be at Williamville AME Zion Church cemetery.
A Fairfield County native, Mr. Moore was a retired cement finisher. He was a former member of Mount Vifit AME Zion Church in Fairfield County and St. Matthews Methodist Church in Baltimore. He then became a member of Brooklyn Tabernacle AME Zion Church. He attended the schools of Fairfield County.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Bell Neal Moore of the home; three sons, Samual W. Moore of Laurens, Michael W. Moore of Rock Hill and Robert W. Moore of Chester; four daughters, Annie M. Reed and Evelyn Hughes, both of Chester, Phyllis Moore of Columbia and Connie M. Long of Irmo; and her brother, William Moore of Detroit.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brooklyn Tabernacle AME Zion Church building fund, 213 Ashford St., Chester, SC 29706.

Minnie Parrish
CHESTER - Mrs. Minnie Lyles Parrish, 82, of 580 West Elliott St. died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Westside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.
Born in Anson County, N.C., Mrs. Parrish was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church and attended the schools of North Carolina. She was the widow of Clem Burdell Parrish.
Surviving are three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from noon to 12:45 p.m. today at Westside Baptist Church.

Helen Walker
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Helen Lee Smith Walker of 565 Washington St. died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. John McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Walker was a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and attended York Technical College and the Miller Mott School. She was the widow of Celeste Walker.
Surviving are three sons, Steven Smith, Derrick Lamont Smith and Rodney Maurice Smith, all of Rock Hill; her mother, Betty Lee Thompson of York; seven brothers, Richard Thompson Jr. of Spartanburg, Eddie Lee Thompson and James Edward Smith Jr., both of Columbia, Ralph Lee Thompson, Mark Smith and Rubstein Smith, all of Rock Hill, and Herman Anthony Thompson of York; seven sisters, Marjorie Mobley, Ida Neal Caldwell, Wanda Rowlingson and Dequator McCullough, all of York; Doreen Callaghan of New York, and Ola Gean Thompson and Christine Smith, both of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
The body will be placed in the church at 1:45 p.m. Sunday.

Sue Wayne
CHARLOTTE - Ms. Sue Wayne, 88, of 5100 Sharon Road died Monday, Jan. 26, 1998, at Sharon Towers.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Providence United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jim Gilland officiating.
Ms. Wayne received her undergraduate degree at Winthrop College in Rock Hill and received her master's degree from Columbia University in New York. She taught elementary school in Rock Hill and in Wagner, and then became a professor of elementary education at Winthrop. She was a member of Providence United Methodist Church in Rock Hill.
Surviving are her brother, Ainsley C. Wayne Sr. of Cayce; her sister, Pauline W. McCaskill of Durham, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to Providence United Methodist Church building fund, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.
