Nancye Bassoff

BAL HARBOUR, Fla. - Ms. Nancye Spanski Bassoff, 49, of 10185 Collins Ave. died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday in Lancaster at the Hartley Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tony Adams officiating. Burial will follow at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Detroit, Ms. Bassoff was a graduate of Lancaster Senior High School and of the University of South Carolina. She taught 12th grade English at North Miami High School and was a licensed Realtor with Wimbish-Riteway Realtors in Miami Beach, Fla. She attended Church by the Sea in Miami.

Surviving are her mother, Willie Mae Watts Spanski of Lancaster; two brothers, Paul Spanski and Mark Spanski, both of Lynchburg, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home and other times at the home of her mother, 1769 Lynwood Drive.

Ernest Brasington, Sr.

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Ernest Roach Brasington Sr., 78, of 1710 Baskins Hill Road died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2:30 Sunday at Rich Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. L. Brooks Walker and the Rev. Stuart Snow officiating. Burial will include Masonic Rites of Fork Hill Lodge No. 316 and will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Lancaster County, Mr. Brasington was a retired Singer Sewing Machine Technician and a retired World War II Army Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, Fork Hill Masonic Lodge No. 316, Rich Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Rich Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Leona Youmans Brasington; four sons, Ernest R. "Ernie" Brasington Jr. and Paul Jerome Brasington, both of Lancaster, Thomas Gordon Brasington of Toledo, Ohio, and James Franklin "Pee Wee" Brasington of Heath Springs; two brothers, W. B. "Bill" Brasington and Claude Sapp "Shorty" Brasington, both of Heath Springs; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and at other times at the home of James Franklin "Pee Wee" Brasington, 3006 Rocky River Road, Heath Springs.

Memorials may be made to Rich Hill Baptist Church, 1557 East Doc Garris Road, Heath Springs, SC 29058.

Mahaffey Funeral Home is in charge.

Emily Elliott

CAMDEN - Mrs. Emily Blackmon Elliott, 87, died Thursday, March 12, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hermitage Baptist Church, with the Revs. Buddy Fredrickson and Clarence Dorman officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Bethune, Mrs. Elliott was a retired registered nurse at the Kershaw County Memorial Hospital. She was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church. She was the widow of Hazel Alexander Elliott.

Surviving are three sons, Roger B. Elliott of Hartsville, Hazel L. Elliott of Columbia, and H. Doug Elliott of Rock Hill; her sister, Doris B. Gaylard of Charleston; her brother, Ira L. Blackmon of Camden; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 tonight at the Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Hermitage Baptist Church, 814 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Camden, SC 29020.

Kornegay Funeral Home is in charge.

Donnie Enix

DALZELL - Mr. Donnie Ray Enix, 37, 4375 Brabham Drive died Wednesday, March 11, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Saluda Street Church of God, with the Rev. Ronnie Green, Rev. Dennis Reid, and Chaplain Bliche-Baum officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Born in Chester County, Mr. Enix was actively serving as a senior master sergeant for the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of Chester High School and St. Leo's College of Sumter. He was supervisor of Disabled Children's Support, a volunteer for the Special Olympics, and worked with special needs children. He also was a member of the NCO Club.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca Kirkland Enix; his son, Corey Enix of the home; two sisters, Teri Dickinson of Dallas and Jeri Dehart of Chester; his brother, Junior Enix of Chester; and his parents, Bill and Shirley Enix of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Marion Harbin

FORT MILL- Mrs. Marion Taylor Harbin, 71, of 325 U.S. 21 Bypass, died Friday, March 13, 1998.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

John Isom Jr.

YORK - Mr. John Benjamin Isom Jr., 50, of 11 Watts St. died Thursday, March 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home, and a graveside service will follow at Uniondale Cemetery.

Born in York, Mr. Isom was an Army veteran and was retired from Wix Manufacturing in Gastonia, N.C. He was a member of New Home AME Zion Church, a graduate of Jefferson High School and a graduate of radio broadcasting school.

Surviving are his mother, Mamie B. Isom of the home; six brothers, Thomas Isom and James Isom, both of Charlotte, Odell Isom and Grady Isom, both of the home, Robert Isom of York and Bobby L. Isom of Rock Hill.

The family will be at the home of Mozell Hemphill, 19 Center St.

Wilma Mathis

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Wilma Jannette Mathis, 52, of 1662 Madison St. died Friday, March 13, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Revs. Bruce Wyatt and Jerry McNair officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills cemetery.

A native of Gastonia, N.C., Mrs. Mathis was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was the widow of Joe A. Mathis.

Surviving are two sons, David Mathis of Rock Hill and Mark Leonard of Blacksburg; her brother, James Johnson of Hickory, N.C.; her sister, Joyce Lilly of Jacksonville, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 848 N. Jones Ave., Rock Hill, S.C. 29730.

Cora Patterson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Cora Jackson Patterson of 821 Rockdale St. died Wednesday, March 11, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Pineville AME Zion Church with Dr. Eugene Goodwin officiating and Father John, Brother Joseph and Elder Melvin Belton assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Patterson was a member of Pineville AME Zion Church, a graduate of Emmett Scott High School and a graduate of Friendship Junior College. She was a cook for more than 20 years at The Oratory.

Surviving are three sons, Sonny Patterson, Bobby Patterson and Larry Patterson, all of Charlotte; three daughters, Shirley Graham, Barbara Miller and Vivian Baily, all of Rock Hill; her brother, John Henry Jones of Charlotte; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will be at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
