Queen Good

YORK - Mrs. Queen E. Good of 130 Lowry Row died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Fishing Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. H.E. Dickson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Good graduated in 1954 from Jefferson High School. She was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church, where she served on the missionary board and the usher board. She was an employee of Thompson Funeral Home for 26 years.

Surviving are her companion, Arthur Thompson; her son, Andre Good of the home; two brothers, Smith Jamison and Tommie Jamison Jr., both of York; an adopted brother, Ronnie Ware of Charlotte; and her grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 8 p.m. today at Thompson Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Walter Griffin Sr.

INDIAN LAND - Mr. Walter S. "Bob" Griffin Sr., 83, of 7654 Henry Harris Road died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Belair United Methodist Church, with Revs. Steve McCormick and J.D. Keeffe officiating. Burial will follow at Belair Cemetery. Masonic Rites will be performed at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home.

Mr. Griffin was a Parkton, N.C., native. He served in the U.S. Army infantry during World War II and received the Purple Heart. He was a Fort Mill Police Department officer for 12 years and retired as a Lancaster County Sheriff's Department deputy. He was a Mason with Lodge No. 414 and a member of the Eastern Star Chapter No. 286.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Bleeka Wilson Griffin of Indian Land; his son, W. Stan Griffin Jr. of Indian Land; three daughters, Gloria G. Keeffe of Ridgeway, Margaret G. Morris of Indian Land and Wanda G. Hoxworth of Franklin, N.C.; his brother, Otis Griffin of Fort Mill; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home, following Masonic Rites, and other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Indian Land Masonic Lodge No. 414, 9189 Charlotte Highway, Fort Mill, S.C. 29715.

Lloyd Alonzo Parker

CHESTER - Mr. Lloyd Alonzo Parker, 78, of 543 W. Elliott St. died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Revs. Carl Williams, Dennis Reid and Tommy Braswell officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Parker attended Chester County schools. He was retired from Springs Industries and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Living Waters Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Surviving are his wife, Susie B. Parker; seven sons, Robert L. Parker Sr., Jimmie R. Parker, Floyd T. Parker and Daniel E. Parker, all of Chester, and Eddie L. Parker, Ainsley A. Parker and Nealy O. Parker, all of the home; his daughter, Beulah McCraven of Chester; two brothers, Dewey T. Parker of Chester and Curtis S. Parker of Bennettsville; six sisters, Vera Stewart of Rock Hill, Janie Broom, Margie Gable and Earline Lipford, all of Chester, Ines Taylor of Great Falls, and Beulah Mae Plyler of Gastonia, N.C.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 11 a.m. today at the home.

Mark Sexton

YORK - Mr. Mark Shane Sexton, 21, of 3242 Ferguson Long Road died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Clover, with Dr. Elwood Seamster and the Rev. Rick Sturgis officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Sexton was employed at Price Plumbing Co. in Charlotte. He was a York County native.

Surviving are his father, Frank Jackson Sexton Jr., and stepmother, Patty Sexton, both of Rock Hill; his mother, Lillian Joy Adams Ballard, and stepfather, Keith Ballard, both of York; five brothers, Kevin Sexton of Asheville, N.C., Timmy Sexton and Travis Sexton, both of York, and Josh Sexton and Matthew Sexton, both of Rock Hill; his sister, Christi Sexton of York; two stepbrothers, Randall Ballard and Jason Ballard, both of Clover; his paternal grandfather, Frank J. Sexton Sr. of York; and his maternal grandparents, John Law and Alice Joy Adams, both of York.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

George Ayers Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. George Richard Ayers Sr., 71, of 836 Patton St. died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating.

Born in York County, Mr. Ayers was a member of the Fort Mill American Legion and an Army veteran of World War II . He was retired from the textile industry and was of the Baptist faith.

He was the widower of Viola F. Ayers.

Surviving are three sisters, Frances Brown of Rock Hill, Barbara Micham of Rock Hill, and Emma Hinston of Charlotte; his step-daughter; and four step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Barbara Micham, 745 Norwood Ave., Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Rawlinson Road Baptist Church Building Fund, 1024 Rawlinson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Lawrence Naab

YORK - Mr. Lawrence J. Naab, 79, of 360-B East Jefferson St. died Sunday, March 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 7 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James L. Correll Jr. officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Andersonville National Cemetery.

Born in Lansing, Mich., Mr. Naab worked in real estate sales. He was a member of the Rotary Club, American Ex-POW's, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served as a 1st Lieutenant with the 88th division 913 Field Artillery during World War II, and was a German prisoner of war. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and two Bronze Battle Stars. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Florence Mattison Naab; his son, Jim L. Naab of Little Rock, Ark.; four daughters, Joyce N. Halverson of Largo, Fla., Sue N. DeClue of Apopka, Fla., Terri N. Versen of York and Robin N. Landers of Memphis, Tenn.; his brother, Warren Naab of Winter Haven, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the church parlor after the service.

The family will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Versen, 1333 Rabbit Run, York.

Crystal Shugart

CHESTER - Mrs. Crystal Caldwell Shugart, 39, of 174 Pinckney St. died Monday, March 16, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Medical Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Purity Presbyterian Church with Dr. Joe Brooks and the Rev. Clay Waltrip officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Shugart was a teacher at Southside Elementary School for 10 years. She was a graduate of Chester High School and Winthrop College. She was a member of Purity Presbyterian Church where she was a choir member and Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are her husband, Wylie M. Shugart; two sons, Wylie M. Shugart III and John Michael Shugart, both of Chester; her daughter, Laura Jean Shugart of Chester; her parents, Frank and Doris B. Caldwell of Chester; and her brother, Paul Caldwell of Chester.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
