Nettie Jones

FORT MILL - Mrs. Nettie Mae West Jones, 79, of 1022 Cecil Jones Road died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was a homemaker. She was a member of Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene and was the widow of Cecil B. Jones.

Surviving are her son, Henry B. Jones of Fort Mill; her brother, John West of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wolfe Funeral Home in Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, 109 Harris St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Charles McCrorey Sr.

RICHBURG - Mr. Charles H. "Heck" McCrorey Sr., 55, of 3559 Mountain Gap Road died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Rossville AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Anthony Commodore officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. McCrorey was a member of Rossville AME Zion Church. He was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and attended the public schools of Chester County.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline Dye McCrorey; five sons, John Rodger Barber of Blackstock, Henry Lee Dye of Greensboro, N.C., Charles McCrorey Jr. of Richburg, Arthur Lee McCrorey of Great Falls, and Donald McCrorey of Rock Hill; three daughters, Doris Champion of Lancaster, Arlene Hinton of Richburg, and Jackie McCrorey of the home; his brother, Johnny A. McCrorey of Chester; two sisters, Isabelle Sharp of Greensboro, and Florie Dye of Richburg; 16 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today at King's Funeral Home in Great Falls.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Martha Payne

UNION - Mrs. Martha Susan Beasley Payne, 84, of Oakmont Retirement Center died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Gary Byrd officiating.

Mrs. Payne was a native of Clayton, Ala. She was the widow of Harry Cleveland Payne Jr. She graduated from Clayton High School and Saltor Hospital School of Nursing in Eufaula, Ala., an affiliate of Grady Hospital in Atlanta.

After graduation, she worked as a registered nurse in Brevard, N.C. She moved to Union in 1940 and retired as a manager of Tinsley's Jewelry Store in Union. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a past member of a number of church and civic clubs and organizations.

Surviving are her son, Harry C. Payne III of Rock Hill; her daughter, Carolyn Baker Payne of Columbia; her brother, Walter Vernon Beasley of Clayton, Ala.; two sisters, Dorothy B. Lynch of Foley, Ala., and Mary Alice B. Mahon of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The body will remain at the S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Frances Rogers

HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. - Mrs. Frances M. Rogers, 85, died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Smith's Chapel Cemetery, with Thomas Parks officiating.

A homemaker, Mrs. Rogers was a former member of Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, Md., and the Eastern Star in Aberdeen.

Surviving are her son, Charles W. Rogers of Havre de Grace; her daughter, Barbara L. Davis of Rock Hill; her brother, Robert W. Mitchell of Churchville, Md.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mitchell-Smith Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Wine Sr.

YORK - Mr. Robert Wilson Wine Sr., 80, of 17 Wright Ave. died Saturday, Sept. 19, 1998, at Tanglewood Nursing Home in Ridgeway.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at York Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Correll officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Wine was a retired auto body repairman. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Avis Lena Saine Wine.

Surviving are two sons, Robert W. Wine Jr. of Shelby, N.C., and John Wine of York; his daughter, Julia Ann W. Jensen of Yorktown, Va.; his sister, Bessie W. Sutton of Berkley Spring, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 376, York, SC 29745.

Sharlene Brown

CHESTER - Miss Sharlene Dominique Brown, 20, of 2635 Clara's Court died Friday, Sept. 18, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Old Wilson Baptist Church, with the Rev. John Robinson officating. Burial will be at the Church Cemetery.

Miss Brown was a Chester County native. She graduated from Chester High School in 1995, was a member of the Old Wilson Baptist Church and worked for Springs Industries.

Surviving are her son, Stephon L. Hill Jr. of Chester; her parents, A.C. Brown and Patricia C. Brown of Chester; her brother, Carl Brown of Chester; two sisters Karen Price of Temple Hill, Md., and Shawna Dye of Chester; her paternal grandmother, Clara Brown of Chester; and her maternal grandfather, Boyse Coleman of Maryland.

The family will receive friends at the home on Clara's Court. The body may be viewed from from 9 to 11 a.m. today at King's Funeral Home.

Gladys Horton

KERSHAW - Mrs. Gladys Alice Truesdale Horton, 91, of 3758 Tom Horton Road died Monday, Sept. 21, 1998, at Kershaw County Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kershaw City Cemetery. A memorial service will be 7 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Mrs. Horton was the retired co-owner and operator of Horton Grocery. She was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce T. Horton and Welch Horton, both of Kershaw; two daughters, Margaret H. Outen of Kershaw and Frances H. Holley of Camden; her sister, Melba Karesh of Camden; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.
