Raymond Watson

LANCASTER - Mr. Raymond Lee Watson, 61, of 1599 Converse Ave. died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at Dorn VA Medical Center in Columbia.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Cauthen Funeral Home.

Mr. Watson was a salesman for the Life Insurance Co. of Georgia. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Clarke Watson; his daughter, Maria Draughon of Lancaster; four brothers, Hershel Watson of Choctaw, Okla., Roger Watson and Jerry Watson, both of Hannah, Okla., and Allan Watson of Glennville, Ga.; his sister, Patricia Butner of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and his grandchild.

Charles Wilson

CLOVER - Mr. Charles Wilson, 53, of 212 Winthrop St. died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Skipper officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Surviving are his son, Robert Wilson of Clover; his mother, Velma Wilson of Clover; four brothers, Joe Wilson, Dillard Wilson and Bill Wilson, all of Clover, and Capt. John C. Wilson of Jackson; four sisters, Betty Wilson, Ruby Woods and Helen Clinton, all of Clover, and Jean Lineberger of Kings Mountain, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 2535, Rock Hill, SC 29731.

Barbara Wilson

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. - Mrs. Barbara Clinton Wilson of Englewood, N.J., formerly of Rock Hill, died Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Englewood Hospital.

The funeral will be Thursday in Englewood, N.J.

Mrs. Wilson was a 1960 graduate of Emmett Scott High School.

Nesbitt Funeral Home is in charge.

Ophelia Beard

GASTONIA, N.C. - Mrs. Ophelia Wright Beard, 86, of 1304 Beaverbrook Drive died Friday, March 20, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church in Gastonia, with the Rev. Dr. Carl A. Glenn officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Beard was a retired cook. She was a member of Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church in Gastonia, and its hymn choir, missionary department and church aid society. She was the widow of Hall Brooks Neal Beard.

Surviving are three sons, Clarence Beard and Ned Beard, both of Gastonia, and Billy Beard of Statesville, N.C.; five daughters, Anna Mae Cathcart, Jessie Wilson and Betty Johnson, all of Toledo, Ohio, and Katie McCombs and Helena Adams, both of Gastonia; two sisters, Evelyn Beard of Shelby, N.C., and Annie Wright of Ranlo, N.C.; 31 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Monday at the church.

Christopher Robinson Sr.

FORT LAWN - Mr. Christopher Lynn Robinson Sr., 31, of 4438 Lazy H Road died Friday, March 20, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, with the Rev. J.E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Robinson was a member of Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, where he was a former junior usher. He was employed at Carolina Rebar Engineering Co. in Catawba. He was a 1984 graduate of Lewisville High School.

Surviving are his son, Christopher Lynn Robinson Jr. of the home; his companion, Sandra A. Dye of the home; his mother, Francina Robinson of Fort Lawn; his father, Wilbur Williams; three brothers, Charles L. Robinson of Lynn Haven, Fla., John W. Robinson of Pineville, N.C., and James L. Robinson of Richburg; and his sister, Mary Robinson Edwards of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Viola Gaston Robinson or Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home in Chester, and at other times at the home of his mother, Francina Robinson, 954 Old Nunnery Farm Road, in Fort Lawn.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

Mary Cauthen

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Eugenia "Jean" Cauthen, 86, died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Westminster Towers.

A graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. William Pender officiating.

Born in Chicago, Mrs. Cauthen was a Winthrop College graduate. She was a charter member of the Junior League of Rock Hill, the Rock Hill Debutante Club and the Perihelion Club. She volunteered with the medical auxiliaries of York General Hospital and Piedmont Medical Center and the American Red Cross. She was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are two sons, Joseph C. Cauthen III of Gainesville, Fla., and Charles L. Cauthen of Hilton Head; two daughters, Cynthia Cauthen Mitchener of Charlotte and Claire Cauthen Perrill of Beaufort; her brother, Charles L. Okey Jr. of Rock Hill; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 772 Myrtle Drive after the service.

Memorials may be made to Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church or to the American Red Cross.

Steven Daves

SHELBY, N.C. - Mr. Steven Wayne Daves, 41, of 2404 Daves Drive died Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Sandy Plains Baptist Church, with the Revs. Cecil Buff, Don McSwain and Jeff Faggart officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Daves was a tree surgeon and the owner of Daves Tree Service. He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Sue Earle Daves; his son, Steven Daves of the home; his daughter, Kimberly Daves of the home; three brothers, Paul Daves Jr. of Lawndale, and Jack Daves and Dean Daves, both of Shelby; two sisters, Nancy Gettys and Trudy Clary, both of Shelby; and his parents, Paul and Ethel Daves.

Memorials may be made to the Lou Gehrig Foundation (A.L.S. Association), North Carolina Chapter, 1301 N. Salem St., Apex, NC 27502.
