Frankie McElhannon

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Frankie Sherer McElhannon, 66, of 237 Marion St. died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Tim Mclendon officiating.

Born in York County, Mrs. McElhannon was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. She was a telephone operator for the Rock Hill Telephone Co. for 28 years.

Surviving is her husband, Arthur C. McElhannon.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.

Christopher Robinson Sr.

FORT LAWN - Mr. Christopher Lynn Robinson Sr., 31, of 4438 Lazy H Road died Friday, March 20, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, with the Rev. J.E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mr. Robinson was a member of Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, where he was a former junior usher. He was employed at Carolina Rebar Engineering Co. in Catawba. He was a 1984 graduate of Lewisville High School.

Surviving are his son, Christopher Lynn Robinson Jr. of the home; his companion, Sandra A. Dye of the home; his mother, Francina Robinson of Fort Lawn; his father, Wilbur Williams; three brothers, Charles L. Robinson of Lynn Haven, Fla., John W. Robinson of Pineville, N.C., and James L. Robinson of Richburg; and his sister, Mary Robinson Edwards of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandmother, Viola Gaston Robinson or Fort Lawn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at King's Funeral Home in Chester, and at other times at the home of his mother, Francina Robinson, 954 Old Nunnery Farm Road, in Fort Lawn.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

William Scott

ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Bill" Glenn Scott, 79, of 187 Westminster Towers, formerly of York, died Saturday, March 21, 1998.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery in York, with the Rev. Tony Grant officiating.

Mr. Scott was a retired U.S. Post Office rural mail carrier and a member of the American Legion. He was elder emeritus of York ARP Church in York and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Jenkins Scott of Rock Hill; his son, William "Bill" Glenn Scott Jr. of Rock Hill; his daughter, Jane Scott Sherer of York; his brother, Robert B. Scott of York; his sister, Sarah Scott Alexander of York; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to York ARP Church, 70 N. Congress St., York, SC 29745.

Sims

CHESTER - The infant daughter of Carol E. Sims of 131 Center St. and Charlie Thorpe died Friday, March 20, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Christian Home Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to her parents are two sisters, Katina Sims and Ashley Sims, both of the home; and her maternal grandparents, Edward and Lula Sims of Chester.

King's Funeral Home is in charge.

Walter Smith

BLACKSBURG - Mr. Walter Jones Smith, 75, of 111 Moore's Road died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Canaan United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Roger Dodds and Will Brown officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Cherokee County, Mr. Smith was a retired postal carrier. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 166th Combat Engineers in the European theater. He received a Presidential Citation. He was on the Cherokee County school board for 28 years, and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Canaan United Methodist, where he was on the administrative board, and was church treasurer and historical representative. He was the widower of Lucille Gallman Smith.

Surviving are two sons, Donnie L. Smith and James F. Smith, both of Blacksburg; his daughter, Clara S. Kirby of Blacksburg; three brothers, Carl Smith and John Smith, both of Blacksburg, and Charles Wesley Smith of Smyrna; five sisters, Frances S. Moore of Blacksburg, Doris S. Comer and Margie S. Smarr, both of Hickory Grove, Inez S. Adair of Rock Hill and Mary Ellen S. Rollins of Gaffney; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at White Columns Funeral Home, and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, 355 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.

Keli Walden

ROCK HILL - Miss Keli Dawn Walden, 19, of 1111 Springdale Road died Saturday, March 21, 1998.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Park in Evansville, Ind., with the Revs. Randall Slavens and Wayne Hurt officiating.

An Evansville, Ind., native, Miss Walden was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and was involved in cross country races in high school.

Surviving are her daughter, Alessandra Schriefer of the home; her father, Tom Walden of Newburgh, Ind.; her mother, Betty Pease of Rock Hill; her stepfather, William Pease of Rock Hill; her brother, Ryan Walden of Evansville, Ind.; her stepbrother, Michael Pease of Rock Hill; and her stepsister, Debra Coleman of Evansville, Ind.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Alexander West Chapel in Evansville, Ind.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Paul White Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Paul White Sr. of 335 Workman St. died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles Woods officiating and evangelist Henrietta King and the Revs. R.H. Brice and Christine McCoy assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A York County native, Mr. White was a former forklift driver. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church and its church choir. He attended York County public schools.

Surviving are two sons, Steven Brice White and Paul White Jr., both of Rock Hill; five daughters, Rosetta Long, Rozenna Hemphill, Marcella Woods, Pearline White and Alene Crawford, all of Rock Hill; four brothers, Leon White of York, Gainwell White of Copperas Cove, Texas, and David White and Frank White, both of Rock Hill; his sister, Frances Anderson of Salisbury, N.C.; 17 grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ebenezer Baptist Church and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Sandra Kay Addis

ROCK HILL - Miss Sandra Kay Addis, 50, of 1724 Madison St. died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of York, Miss Addis was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Surviving is a sister, Carmen A. Hall of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.
