Carrie Little

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Carrie Lou Ross Little, 85, formerly of Charlotte, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home in Charlotte, with the Revs. Thomas C. Pietila and Jim Missick officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Memorial Park.

Born in Pelzer, Mrs. Little was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Order of Eastern Star and Commonwealth United Methodist Church where she was in the Methodist Women and the church choir.

She was the widow of Bryce T. Little.

Surviving are her son, Barry R. Little of Rock Hill; her daughter, Rosanne Patrick of Boynton Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Elizabeth R. Hair and Lavinia R. Maw, both of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Westminster Towers, and other times at the home of her son, 2637 Cole Creek Lane.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the orphanage or charity of one's choice.

Jack Rorie

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. Andrew Jackson "Jack" Rorie, 71, died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Bishop Derek Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Lakeland Memorial Park.

Born in Union County, N.C., Mr. Rorie was a retired printer.

Surviving are his wife, Marceleen Lefler Rorie of Monroe; his son, Dennis A. Rorie of Rock Hill; two daughters, Connie Yarbrough and Amanda S. Rorie, both of Monroe; two brothers, Ed Rorie and Ted Rorie, both of Monroe; his sister, Doris Long of Albemarle; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Davis Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Latter-Day Saints missionary fund, c/o Dennis Rorie, 700 E. Sunset Drive, Monroe, NC 28112.

Samuel Springs Jr.

COWARD - Mr. Samuel Edward Springs Jr., 74, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Lee Cemetery.

Born in Florence County, Mr. Springs was a retired carpenter and a member of Faith Holiness Church in Scranton. He was past master of Robert Burns Masonic Lodge No. 337, a former volunteer chief of South Lynches Fire Department and a World War II Army veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Missouri McKnight Springs of Coward; his son, Samuel Edward "Sammy" Springs III of Olanta; two daughters, Patricia O'Neal of Coward and Susan Turner of Fort Mill; three sisters, Ada Mae Davis of Hemingway, Harriett Parnell of Waycross, Ga., and Edna Wallace of Port Neches, Texas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Brockington Funeral Home in Lake City.

William Vinson

CAMDEN - Mr. William Perry Vinson, 95, of 3320 Baron DeKalb Road died Monday, March 23, 1998, at Kershaw County Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Rivers officiating. Burial will be at Bethany Baptist Church cemetery in Westville.

Born in Kershaw, Mr. Vinson was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and was a farmer.

Surviving are two sons, the Rev. Frank G. Vinson of Davidson, N.C., and David P. Vinson of Westville; six daughters, Ruth V. Graham and Rachel Clyburn, both of Camden, Mary Nelson of Elgin, Margie Twitty of Lexington, and Esther V. Deese and Martha Mabry, both of West Columbia; his brother, Baxter Vinson of Kershaw; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of David Vinson, 4137 Damascus Church Road, Westville.

Memorials may be made to Springdale Health Care Center, Battleship Road, Camden, SC 29020.

Charles Blackburn

CHESTER - Mr. Charles Richard Blackburn, 87, of 207 Elliott St. died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Wright's Home for Funerals. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Blackburn was retired from the Gayle Plant of Springs Industries after 42 years as a master mechanic. He was a native of Mecklenburg County.

Surviving are his son, Richard W. "Dick" Blackburn of Little River; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

Kathleen Blackwell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Kathleen Hunt Blackwell, 77, of 869 Milton Ave. died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Steve Hogg officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in York County, Mrs. Blackwell was a member of First Baptist Church, The Joy Club and was head of the Cradle Department. She was a homemaker.

She was the widow of Herbert A. Blackwell Sr.

Surviving are her son, Herbert A. Blackwell Jr. of Rock Hill; her daughter, Bonnie Blackwell Parker of Rock Hill; her brother, Carllyle Hunt of Rock Hill; three sisters, Helen May of Greer, Laura Leo Mikeal of Huntersville, N.C., and Mary Lee Kalergis of Orange, Calif.; three grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Breaking New Ground fund.

Marjorie Brown

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marjorie T. Brown died Tuesday, March 24, 1998.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

A Detroit native, Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School of Minneapolis and attended the University of Minnesota.

Surviving are her daughter, Claudia Brown of Rock Hill; her sister, Norma Berg of Minnesota; her grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
