John Williamson

YORK ­ Mr. John Louis Williamson, 86, of the Guthries Community, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethesda Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tony Dick officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Williamson was a graduate of York High School and attended Georgia Tech University. He was a veteran of World War II and worked in electrical engineering before returning to York County to farm. He was a lifetime member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is his sister, Katherine Williamson of York.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethesda Presbyterian Church Cemetery Association or Family Life Center, 4858 McConnells Hwy., York SC 29745.

Marie McElhaney

SALISBURY - Mrs. Marie Lowery McElhaney, 94, of 412 West Horah St. died Tuesday, March 24, 1998 at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury, with the Rev. James Stowe officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery.

Born in York County, Mrs. McElhaney attended the public schools of South Carolina and Friendship College in Rock Hill. She was a retired domestic and was a 40-year member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a head usher and in the Faithful Workers Missionary Circle and Pastor's Aid.

Surviving are two sons, Jasper "Jake" McElhaney and John A. McElhaney, both of Salisbury; two brothers, Marion Lowery of Columbus, Ohio, and Matthew Lowery of McConnells; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 2:30 Saturday at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church.

Noble and Kelsey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Isaac Clowney

BALTIMORE - Mr. Isaac "Ike" Clowney, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, March 26, 1998, in Baltimore.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home in Rock Hill.

William Craig Jr.

CLOVER - Mr. William Davidson Craig Jr., 70, of 1291 Ole Cambridge Circle, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodside Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. William K. Neely officiating.

Mr. Craig was a member of Clover Presbyterian Church and was a graduate of Clover High School and the University of South Carolina. He was an Army veteran and worked as a pharmacist for 39 years before retiring.

Surviving are his mother, Mildred Davidson Craig of Clover; three brothers, Max Arnold Craig and Hoyle Westley Craig, both of Clover, and Hal Newton Craig of Fort Worth, Texas; two sisters, Dorothea Craig Collins of Florence, and Linda Craig Henry of Clover.

The family will receive friends at the home.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.

Elvie Evans

LANCASTER - Miss Elvie Ellen Evans, 75, of 1242 Trestle Lane, died Friday, March 27, 1998, at her home.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hartley Funeral Home chapel, with the Revs. Curtis Cameron and Edward Terry officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Chesterfield County, Miss Evans was retired from Springs Industries. She attended Temple Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Vivian Wentz of Lancaster; and her brother, Frank Evans of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home.

Daniel Cooke Jr.

YORK - Daniel Wade Cooke Jr., 1, son of Daniel Wade and Minnie Wilson Cooke of 6670 Windy Run Lane, died Saturday, March 28, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Rawlinson Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ken Jones officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Holly Danielle Cooke; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Jeanette Cooke of Fort Mill; maternal grandparents, Avery and Maxine Brown of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, and other times at 6670 Windy Run Lane, York.

Memorials may be made to Rawlinson Road Baptist Church, 1024 Rawlinson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

William Staley

ROCK HILL - Mr. William "Bill" Franklin Staley, 83, of 250 Pointe Circle died Friday, March 27, 1998, at Meadowhaven Rehabilitation & Specialty Care Center.

The graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Monday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bo Coleman officiating.

Mr. Staley was a retiree of the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Plant in Roanoke, Va., and is a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 632nd Tank Destroyer Battalion. He attended Oakland Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marguerite Talley Staley; his stepson, Richard Dalton Dunlap of Hartsville; two stepdaughters, Debra Dean Weaver of Houston and Donna Jeanne Edwards of Rock Hill; his brother, Guy Staley of Syracuse, N.Y.; two sisters, Ruby S. Stump of Roanoke, Va., and Mildred S. Cooper of Wilmington, N.C.; and four grandsons.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and other times at 250 Pointe Circle, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.
