Betty Totherow

FORT MILL - Mrs. Betty Lawson Totherow, 63, of 109 Watford St. died Tuesday, March 30, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, with the Revs. Roland Dry and Mike Wallace officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. at Bogansville United Methodist Church cemetery in Union.

Mrs. Totherow worked at Springs Industries as a spooler and retired from Armstrong Mills as a weaver. She was a member of Sisk Memorial Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Ernie Totherow and Mike Totherow, both of Fort Mill; her daughter, Kathy Totherow Harvell of Fort Mill; her brother, Belton Hill "Deed" Lawson of Union; four sisters, Fannie Mae Calicutt of West Springs, Myrtle Eureka Smith of Fort Mill, Ann Marie Bobo of Union and Mary Lawson Raines of Kingsport, Tenn; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral home and at other times at the home of her son, Mike Totherow, 1583 Kennel Road, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to Sisk Memorial Baptist Church, 119 Massey St., Fort Mill, SC 29715 or to Hospice of York County Inc., 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Marcile Austin

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Marcile Brazil Austin, 67, of 1562 McGill St. died Tuesday, March 31, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jerry Sosebee officiating. Burial will be at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Austin was retired from Family Dollar Stores. She was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are her son, Smitty Ray Montgomery of Rock Hill; her brother, Arnold "Odell" Brazil of Rock Hill; her sister, Doris M. Dennis of Rock Hill; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Ernest Buchanan

CHERAW - Mr. Ernest C. Buchanan, 36, died Tuesday, March, 31, 1998, at Chesterfield General Hospital.

The funeral is 3 p.m. Saturday at Peedee Baptist Church in Cheraw. Burial will be at Foundry Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Buchanan was employed at Carolina Canners in Cheraw.

Surviving are his mother, Willie C. Buchanan of Cheraw; five brothers, Willie Louis Jones, Thomas Buchanan, Samuel Buchanan, and James Buchanan, all of Cheraw, and Michael E. Buchanan of Rock Hill; three sisters, Dazree Rowie of Charlotte, and Vanessa Sanders and Scottie Buchanan, both of Cheraw.

The family will receive friends at the home of Willie C. Buchanan, 119 Kershaw St.

Reid Funeral Home is in charge.

James Burke Jr.

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - Mr. James Matthew Burke Jr., 80, of Mainlands Unit 3, formerly of Rock Hill, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Taylor Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Burke was a retired senior customer service representative for Leesona Corp. He was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Burke; three sons, Robert Edward Blake of Ohio, John Joseph Burke of Illinois and Timothy Jerome Burke of North Carolina; his daughter, Emily Burke Theriault of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two sisters, Roberta Burke Reisert and Sister Rita Burke, both of Rhode Island; and 10 grandchildren.

Florrie Jones

CLOVER - Mrs. Florrie Miller Jones, 84, of 1050 Old N. Main St. died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Clover First Baptist Church, with the Rev. David Stanford officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Jones was a member of Clover First Baptist Church. She was retired from Chicago Rawhide in Gastonia, N.C.

Surviving are three sons, Richard E. Jones of Clover, Edmond D. Jones of Lake Wylie and Ernest J. Jones of Gastonia, N.C.; her daughter, Dorothy M. Jones of Clover; two sisters, Dorothy Heffington of Florence, Ala., and Joyce Baxter of Eufaula, Ala.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Clover Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 214, Clover, SC 29710.

Hershel King

ROCK HILL - Mr. Hershel Irvin King, 82, of 3987 Roddey Road died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating.

Mr. King was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic, a member of the Masonic Order. He was the widower of Thelma Louise Massey King.

Surviving are his son, James D. King of Rock Hill; three daughters, Carol Melton and Gail Davis, both of Rock Hill, and Susan King of the home; his brother, Paul King of Greenville; two sisters, Bessie Mullis of Cana, Va., and Louise Elrod of Central; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and from 7 to 9 tonight at the home of his son, James D. King, 1160 Volunteer Drive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

William Long

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Ivey "Bill" Long, 86, of 1944 Greenfield Drive died Monday, March 30, 1998, at his home.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tim McClendon officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Long retired in 1976 from Winthrop University's drama department. He was technical director and later director of "The Lost Colony, " a drama about North America's first English settlement, set on the water's edge at Manteo, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wood Long; two sons, William Ivey Long II of New York and Robert Long of Chapel Hill, N.C.; his daughter, Laura Anne Long of the home; and three grandchildren.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge.
