Bonnie Lawing

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Bonnie Jane Foster Lawing, 61, of Charlotte died Friday, April 3, 1998, at her daughter's home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Olivet Presbyterian Church in McConnells. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lawing retired from the transportation department of Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools after 25 years. She was active in the Derita OES No. 326 and was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Bonnie Weaver of Wilmington, N.C., and Susan White of Charlotte; her mother, Lilla D. Foster of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olivet Church cemetery fund, 159 Church St., McConnells, SC 29726.

Wilson Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Billy Myers

ROCK HILL - Mr. Billy Joe "B.J." Myers, 71, of 3301 Penshurst Road died Friday, April 3, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodhaven Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul Noe officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Myers was retired from Bowater and Duke Energy. He was a charter member of Woodhaven Baptist Church, and was a Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Wanda Murphy Myers; two sons, Kreg Myers and Chuck Myers, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Kenie Crawford of Rock Hill; two stepsons, Len Branham and Bengie Branham, both of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Celeste Gaston of Rock Hill; his sister, Betty Barry of Ponca City, Okla.; three grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Louise Poteat

PINEVILLE, N.C.- Mrs. Louise Black Poteat, 77, of Pineville, N.C., died Thursday, April 2, 1998, at Mercy Hospital.

The funeral will be private.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Poteat, was retired from the Pineville Shoe Shop. She was a member of Steele Creek Presbyterian Church.

Surviving is her son, John T. Poteat Jr. of Pineville, N.C.; her brother, Robert H. Black of Woburn, Mass.; and two sisters, Correane Starnes and Carrie Estelle Luke, both of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel, 10500 Park Road in Charlotte.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1820 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204 or the American Heart Association, 1300 Baxter St., Charlotte, NC 28204.

Radames Ramos

CLOVER - Mr. Radames Castro Ramos, 65, of 103 Fairview St. died Friday, April 3, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Warren Zehrung officiating.

Mr. Ramos was a certified pipe welder with ABB Combustion Engineering in Kings Mountain, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Kay Frances Ervin Ramos; his father, Antonio Ramos of Cleveland, Ohio; and four sisters, Maria Carrabello of Parma Heights, Ohio, and Sophia Arzuaga, Iris Ramos and Maria Witt of Cleveland, Ohio.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Beatrice Barber

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Beatrice Drafton Barber of 205 Bowser St. died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Ralph Washington officiating and the Revs. John Brown, Reid R. White and Dr. W.O. Thompson assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Barber was a native of Chester County. She was a retired employee of J.P. Stevens Co. and attended public school in York County. She was a member of Rock Grove AME Zion Church, and several church organizations.

Surviving are four daughters, Rita B. Blake, Doris B. McCullough, Anna B. Thompson and Mildred B. Douglas, all of Rock Hill; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Thursday.

James Durham Sr.

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. James Durham Sr., 63, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Monday, March 30, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Liberty Hill AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Terrence Jones officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Durham was a native of Clover.

Surviving are his wife, Irene Deloris Durham; his son, James Durham Jr. of Brooklyn; two daughters, Teresa Kendrick and Lois Stewart, both of Fort Hood, Texas; his adopted daughter, Lillian Durham of Brooklyn; his mother, Annie Durham Kendrick of Lake Wylie; four brothers, Lewis McKinney of North Hills, Penn., Leroy Kendrick and Robert Kendrick, both of Gastonia, N.C., and Harold Kendrick of Elloree; and six sisters, Farrie Thomas and Lizzie Johnson, both of Gastonia, Mary Knox, Naomi Kendrick and Annie Kendrick, all of Lake Wylie, and Gloria Smith of Kings Mountain, N.C.

The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. today.

Wright Funeral Home of York is in charge.

Sammie Heath

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. Sammie Heath of 430 Dave Lyle Blvd., who died Friday, April 3, 1998, at his home, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.L. Hancock officiating and the Revs. Ira Roddey, Louise Bradley and Mary Austin assisting.

Burial will be at Cedar Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mr. Heath retired from the city of Rock Hill after working 28 years. He attended York County public schools.

Mr. Heath was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church, where he sang in the choir.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Knox Heath of Rock Hill; three sons, Jeffrey Heath of Columbia, and Sammie L. Heath and Ricky Heath, both of Rock Hill; three sisters, Virginia Hall of Stanley, N.C., and Mary E. Heath and Ruby Mann, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Frazier Heath of Rock Hill, and Willie G. Heath of Charlotte; and three grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home. It will be taken to the church at noon Tuesday.

The family will receive friends at the home and at 230 Roddey St.
