Samuel Knox

ROCK HILL - Mr. Samuel A. Knox, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, April 2, 1998, in New Jersey.

The funeral will be Monday in New Jersey.

Surviving are three sisters, Anrue Marshall, Delcine Cole and Bernice Miller, all of Rock Hill.

Clemons Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Otis Moore

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Mr. Otis Moore, formerly of Smyrna, died Friday, April 3, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer AME Zion Church in Smyrna, with the Rev. Willie H. Evans officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Moore joined Ebenezer AME Zion Church at an early age.

Surviving are his wife, Emma Jayne Moore; his son, John Moore of Columbus, Ohio; his daughter, Valorie Rushing of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Tracy Moore of Gastonia, N.C., and Benny Moore of Smyrna; and two sisters, Iola Smith of Columbus, Ohio and Vernice Alexander of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Wright Funeral Home in York is in charge.

Thomas Edwards Sr.

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Mr. Thomas Edwards Sr., formerly of Rock Hill, died Friday April 3, 1998, in Buffalo.

The funeral will be Thursday at Eternal Life Church of Christ, in Buffalo. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Surviving are Mr. Edwards' two sons, Thomas Edwards Jr. of Rock Hill, and Charles Edwards of Shreveport, La.; and his daughter, Odessa Hall of Buffalo.

Alfred Lewis Mortuary and Co., 968 Jefferson Ave., Buffalo, NY 14211 is in charge.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Jane Comer

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Jane Boulware Comer, 61, of 1349 Riverview Circle died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Doug Irvin officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Comer was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. She was also clerk of court for the town of Great Falls and secretary for the Great Falls Police Department. She was a member of Great Falls First Baptist Church and a graduate of Great Falls High School.

Surviving are her husband, Donnie Comer; her son, Timothy B. "Tim" Comer of Fort Lawn; her mother, Almetta C. Boulware of Great Falls; her sister, Betty Sue Snow of San Francisco; and her grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home is in charge.

Major Henson

GREAT FALLS - Mr. Major Dye Henson, 87, of 34 Republic St. died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Doug Irvin and C.O. Belk Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

A Chester County native, Mr. Henson was a retired building contractor and graduated from Chester County schools. He was a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. He was the widower of Ethel Fowler Henson.

Surviving are two sons, Reggie Henson of Great Falls, and Michael Henson of Clyde, N.C.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 606 Dearborn St., Great Falls, SC 29055.

Billy Kennington

LANCASTER - Mr. Billy Crawford Kennington, 64, of 217 Blackmon Road died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartley Funeral Home, with Dr. U.A. McManus Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Kennington was a Lancaster County native. He was a retired automobile salesman and a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was also of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Stevens Kennington of the home; three sons, Dale Kennington of Summerville, Roger Kennington of Prattville, Ala., and Eric Kennington of Dothan, Ala.; two daughters, Deborah McEachern of Montgomery, Ala., and Cynthia Stanford of Prattville; his stepson, Joey Mayfield of Lancaster; his stepdaughter, Amanda Brazzell of Lancaster; three brothers, Charles Kennington of Newberry, and Jack D. Kennington and Jimmy D. Kennington, both of Lancaster.; nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight, at Hartley Funeral Home.

Danny Lee Smith

HICKORY GROVE - Mr. Danny Lee Smith, 45, of 2237 Martin Road died Saturday, April 4, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Central Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. Keith Blalock officiating.

A native of Hood River, Ore., Mr. Smith was a partner and board member of Southern Tree & Landscape Co. in Charlotte. He was instrumental in starting the company in 1977. He was president of the Three Rivers Chapter of Quail Unlimited and a member of Broad River Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Miller Smith; his daughter, Leah Smith of Charlotte; his parents, George Smith and Beverly Dixon, both of Washington; two brothers, Robbie Smith and Jody Smith, both of Washington; his sister, Sherri Smith Cordierio of Washington; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
