Dorothy Walters

CHESTER - Mrs. Dorothy Lee Carpenter Walters, 70, of 598 McDowell Drive died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at home.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. James Sanders officiating.

Mrs. Walters was an Atlanta native. She was retired from Springs Industries and attended Chester schools.

Surviving are her husband, Clyde S. Walters Jr.; three sons, Clyde S. "Butch" Walters III and Terry Darby, both of Chester, and William "Gene" Darby of Knoxville, Tenn.; her daughter, Gloria Darby Sharpe of Chester; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Grady Watson

ELIZABETH, N.J. - Mr. Grady Lee Watson, 59, formerly of the Leeds community in Chester County, died Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at Elizabeth General Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Leatha Chambers

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Leatha Camp Chambers, 84, of 1915 Ebenezer Road died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer ARP Church, with Drs. Jack Basie, Boyce Wilson, Barry Eller and the Rev. Charles Mitchell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Chambers was a graduate of York High School and studied music at Winthrop College for seven years. She was a member of Ebenezer ARP Church, where she was church organist from 1949 to 1972. She was Bible leader for her circle and was active in Ebenezer Women of the Church.

She was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy S.D. Barron Chapter No. 234, the Silver Fox Club, Rock Hill Piano Teachers Forum, S.C. Piano Festival Association, Rock Hill Business and Professional Women's Club and the Allegro Music Club of Rock Hill.

At the time of her retirement in 1979, she was employed by the Guardian Fidelity Corp. She was assistant cashier and was later promoted to vice president.

She was organist at First Baptist Church, Neely's Creek ARP Church, Tirzah ARP Church, Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and First ARP Church, all in Rock Hill; and Beth-Shiloh Presbyterian Church of York.

Surviving are her daughter, Patsy C. Williams of Rock Hill; three brothers, John F. Camp and Joe A. Camp, both of Columbia, and Robert E. Camp of Lithia Springs, Ga.; her sister, Attie C. May of Lexington; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter, Patsy C. Williams, 1832 Hyatt Ave., Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer Memorial Association, c/o Ebenezer ARP Church, 2132 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Beth-Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 1184 N. Shiloh Rd., York, SC 29745.

Eunice Harvey

CLOVER - Mrs. Eunice McCarter Harvey, formerly of 629 Johnston St., died Monday, April 6, 1998, at White Oak Manor in York.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Alexander Hines Sr.

CHESTER - Mr. Alexander Hines Sr., 48, of Bishopville, formerly of Chester, died Sunday, April 5, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church in Fairfield County, with the Rev. T.G. Green officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Hines was a native of New York. He was a former employee of Mayflower Trucking Co. and Phillips Industries. He attended New York University and Midlands Technical College in Columbia. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his son, Alexander Hines Jr. of Charlotte; his father, Robert Hines of Newtonville, N.J.; his mother, Ruth B. Hinton of Chester; three brothers, Robert Hines Jr. of Manhattan, N.Y., and Manzell Hines Sr. and John B. Hines, both of Chester; and two sisters, Henritta Hines of New York and Frances E. Hinton of Chester.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ruth Hinton, 639 Ashford Road, Chester.

The body will lie in state at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the church.

Denton Funeral Home in Chester is in charge.

Roger Langley

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Mr. Roger Dale Langley, 51, of 2403 S. 25th St. died Monday, April 6, 1998, in Fort Pierce, Fla.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Evergreen Cemetery in Chester, with the Rev. Bill Shytle officiating.

A native of Chester, Mr. Langley was a retired handyman.

Surviving are his wife, Brenda S. Langley of Rock Hill; his son, Ricky Dwayne Langley Bowers of Lancaster; two stepsons, John Whitesides and John Smith, both of Rock Hill; five daughters, Sandy Darlene Langley, Nancy Ann Langley, Paula Dale Langley, all of Dalton, Ga., and Jeanna Marie Langley and Ashley Leigh-Ann Smith, both of Rock Hill; his stepdaughter, Kathy McManus of Rock Hill; two brothers, Robert J. Langley of Fort Lawn and Gene Langley of Chester; two sisters, Chris Clayton and Cricket Grant, both of Chester; and 21 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Lunelle McDaniel

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Lunelle C. McDaniel, 89, of 1045 Red River Road died Monday, April 6, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia, N.C., with the Rev. Jesse Sims officiating and the Rev. Bill Miller assisting.

A member of Ranlo Baptist Church, Mrs. McDaniel helped her parents run a boarding house for textile workers. She began working in a textile mill at age 12 and worked in the textile industry for 44 years.

Surviving are three sons, Charles L. McDaniel and James E. McDaniel, both of Rock Hill, and Forrest R. McDaniel of Charlotte; her daughter, Linda C. Norton of Long Beach, N.C.; her brother, L. Rochelle Clary of Gastonia, N.C.; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Peggy Mobley

RIVERDALE, Md. - Miss Peggy Joyce Mobley, 60, formerly of Chester, died Friday, April 3, 1998, at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.

Bobby Rawdon

ROCK HILL - Mr. Bobby Rawdon, 60, of 5 Graham St. died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bruce Wyatt officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mr. Rawdon was employed with Piedmont Interstate Warehouse. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Conner Rawdon; two sons, B.J. Rawdon of the home and the Rev. Reggie A. Hopkins of Spartanburg; two daughters, Meleah H. Faulk of Rock Hill and Robyn H. Bailey of York; two brothers, Steve Rawdon of Rock Hill and Johnny Rawdon of Far Rockaway, N.Y.; three sisters, Sue R. Bridges of Charlotte, Wanda R. Taggart of Gastonia, N.C., and Sherry R. Thomas of Concord, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Samuel Bush Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Samuel Bufford Bush Sr., 72, of 4542 Turkey Lane died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Eastside Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Holley officiating. Burial will be at Flint Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Bush was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. He retired from Hoechst-Celanese after 40 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he served in the special forces. He was a member of the American Legion Frank Roach Post 34 and VFW Post 2889.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Weaver Fields Bush; two sons, Samuel B. Bush Jr. and Thomas Bush, both of Lancaster; three daughters, Donnice Bush Neely and Kay Bush Vignola, both of Rock Hill, and Faye Bush Pressley of Myrtle Beach; his stepson, Donald M. Fields of Conway, two stepdaughters, Debra F. Cooper and Denise F. Terry, both of Rock Hill; his sister, Ellen Helfer of Pineville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
