Genola Hall

CHESTER - Mrs. Genola Heath Hall died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Westminster Towers in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4:30 p.m. Friday at Purity Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Shannon, 156 Walnut St., Chester.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Ervin Howze Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ervin Howze Jr., 72, of Rock Hill died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home in York, with the Rev. Jerry L. Gadsden officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park in Rock Hill.

Mr. Howze was a veteran of World War II and retired from Randolph Yarns. He joined Harmony United Methodist Church early in life and later joined Bethel United Methodist Church, where he was a steward. He attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are his wife, Albirtha Howze; three sons, James L. Howze of Charlotte, William White of Edgemoor, and George Harris of Rock Hill; two daughters, Albemteen Howze of Greenville and Barbara Mills of Rock Hill; three brothers, Thomas Howze and William Henry Howze, both of Edgemoor, and Lindsay Howze of Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Nealia Jackson and Betty Jean Clifton, both of Edgemoor; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The body may viewed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Wright Funeral Home.

Ira Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Ira M. "Moody" Johnson, 55, of 861 BelAire Drive died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Lowery and Mr. Gary Carnes officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Johnson was retired from Harris Teeter. He was of the Baptist faith and served in the National Guard.

Surviving are his son, Darrell Ira Johnson of Rock Hill; his mother, Margaret O. Johnson of Rock Hill; and his brother, James M. Johnson of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Steve Johnson

ROCK HILL - Mr. Steven Darnell Johnson, 33, of 446 Barnes St. died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. today at Clemons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Rodney Hamright officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

A native of Harlem, N.Y., Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Northwestern High School, where he was on the track team. He served in the Air Force and attended Trinity Bible Church.

Surviving are his wife, Connie Harrison Johnson; his son, Coslough D. Harrison of the home; two daughters, Tiffani N. Johnson and Stefanie D. Johnson, both of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Sanders of Rock Hill and Prince Myeres of Bamberg; and his brother, Ben Sanders III of Rock Hill.

The family will receive at the home of Lonzo and Anna Blake, 446 Barnes St.

William McAliley Sr.

AUSTELL, Ga. - The Rev. William Samuel McAliley Sr. died Tuesday, April 7, 1998.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Presbyterian Village Center in Austell.

The Rev. McAliley was a native of Chester. He was a graduate of Erskine College, taught school and was a school principal during World War II. He graduated from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1950. He worked in Presbyterian churches throughout the Southeast as well as at Tirzah Presbyterian Church in York. He was a member of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Surviving are his wife, the Rev. Elizabeth Dunlap McAliley; three sons, Sam McAliley of Aurora, Colo., Carl McAliley of Houston, Texas, and Richard McAliley of Port Angeles, Wash; two daughters, Ruth M. Harper of York and Sarah M. Oba of Tokyo, Japan; and 10 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Presbyterian Village for the Caring Hands fund, 2000 East-West Connector, Austell, GA 30106.

Hazel Nicholson

FORT MILL - Mr. Hazel Hugh Nicholson, 64, of 4138 Doby's Bridge Road died Tuesday, April 7, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jack Norris officiating. Burial will be at Pineville City Cemetery.

Born in Pineville, N.C., Mr. Nicholson was a Navy veteran and served in the Korean conflict.

Surviving are his wife, Bernice Rogers Nicholson; two sons, Hazel C. "Nick" Nicholson of Pineville and Donald A. Nicholson of Newport; his daughter, Belinda Ann Pope of Wilmington, N.C.; his mother, Olie Baker Nicholson of Pineville; his brother, Chanucy Nicholson of Fort Mill; four sisters, Nell Norris and Terry Inman, both of Pineville, Becky McCarver and Violet Moore, both of Fort Mill; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 400 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29260.

Tony Taylor

LANCASTER - Mr. Tony Dean "Red" Taylor, 39, of 3528 Bowling Lane died Monday, April 6, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Eddie Usher and Wayne Dickson and Mr. Bill Sumner officiating. Burial will be at New Cut Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mr. Taylor was a member of Victory Baptist Church. He was a brick mason.

Surviving are his wife, Lynne S. Taylor; his son, Zachary C. Sims of Lancaster; his mother, Mary Kathleen Taylor of Lancaster; and four brothers, Larry Taylor, Randy Taylor, Lonnie Ray Taylor and Chester Lorenza Taylor, all of Lancaster.
