Arthur Bailey Sr.

MIDLAND, N.C. - Mr. Arthur Monroe Bailey Sr., 83, of 210 Robinwood Dr., formerly of Clover, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at McEwen Mint Hill Chapel, with the Rev. Paul Troutman officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mr. Bailey was retired from the Carolina Coach Co. in 1977. Born in Hartsville, he was a member of First Baptist Church of Clover. He was the widower of Sophia Curtis Bailey.

Surviving are his son, Arthur M. Bailey Jr. of Pungoteaque, Va.; two daughters, Linda B. Choplin of Shalimar, Fla., and Judy B. Troutman of Midland, N.C.; five sisters, Beatrice Falls, Aileen McGinnis and Mildred Ferguson, all of Gastonia, N.C., Dorothy McKenzie of Clover and Claire Barger of Mooresville, N.C.; seven grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Harris Hospice of Presbyterian Hospital, 200 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC 28204.

Jeraldine Blackwelder

YORK - Mrs. Jeraldine Blackwelder, 58, of 24 Rose St. died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Todd Reynolds officiating.

Mrs. Blackwelder was employed at Pharr Yarn. She attended First Weslyan Church.

Surviving are her son, Scott Blackwelder of Clover; her mother, Lillie Belle Rose Blackwelder of York; two brothers, Lewis Blackwelder Jr. of York and Leroy Blackwelder of Sharon; five sisters, Edith B. Ivey of Laurinburg, N.C., Virginia B. Alexander of Smyrna, and Lucille B. Montgomery, Margaret B. Parker and Renee B. Dover, all of Clover; and her grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Raymond Caulder

ROCK HILL - Mr. Raymond Jefferson Caulder, 77, of 953 Beverly Drive died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at the Richard M. Campbell VA Nursing Home in Anderson.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Revs. Ray Mohrmann and Everette Lineburger officiating. Burial is private.

A native of Darlington, Mr. Caulder was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was an ex-officio member of the following Rock Hill boards and committees: building and housing board of appeals, zoning board of adjustments, plumbing and mechanical advisory board and the electrical board. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Maxine R. Caulder; two sons, Stephen P. Caulder and Jeffrey N. Caulder, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Karen Rae Harkey of Charleston; his sister, Elizabeth Rudder of Rock Hill; and his grandchild.

The family will receive friends at the church prior to and immediately after the service.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church 75th Anniversary Fund, 426 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Pearl Ford

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Pearl Elizabeth Green Ford, 95, of 2756 Ridgewood Lane, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Ford was a lifelong member of Park Baptist Church, where she was active as a nursery worker and a member of the 60's Club. She was the widow of Cyril L. Ford.

Surviving are her son, Grays C. Ford of Rock Hill; her daughter, Jean F. Jackson of Rock Hill; her brother, Clarence E. Green of Rock Hill; her sister, Mabel Green Hunter of Rock Hill; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jean Jackson, 2756 Ridgewood Lane.

Memorials may be made to Park Baptist Church, 717 E. Main St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Genola Hall

CHESTER - Mrs. Genola Heath Hall, 82, died Wednesday, April 8, 1998, at Westminster Towers in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4:30 p.m. today at Purity Presbyterian Church, with Dr. W.B. Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Lando, Mrs. Hall was the widow of H. Everett Hall. She was a homemaker and member of Purity Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the Women of the Church and the Robert Hemphill Sunday school class. She was a graduate of Chester High School and attended Salem College. She was a charter member of the Chester Assembly. She was a member of the Violet Sunshine Club, Monday Morning Painters, Tuesday Duplicate Bridge, Wednesday Afternoon Bridge Club of which she was a member since 1942, and the Thursday Afternoon Bridge Club. She was a founding member of the Arts Council of Chester and was a member of the Chester Ladies Golf Association.

Surviving are her son, H. Everett "Buzzy" Hall of Rock Hill; her daughter, Leila Heath Hall Shannon of Chester; her brother, Harry Bascom Heath of Chester; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight in the community room at Westminster Towers.

Memorials may be made to Purity Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 278, Chester, SC 29706.

Robert Hill

YORK - Mr. Robert Lee Hill, 62, of 110 Washington St. died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York, Mr. Hill was a member of Gold Hill Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and member of the Hoodtown Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Hill; five sons, Maurice Hill, Mario Hill and David Brown, all of the home, Victor Garvin of York and Michael Mills of Rock Hill; four daughters, Elaine Brown of Charlotte, Renee Adams of Rock Hill and Shirley Moore and Debra Martin, both of York; two brothers, Arthur Hill of Plainfield, N.J., and Bill Carrol of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mary L. Stimpson of Greensboro, N.C., and Annie L. Gill of York; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Masonic Rites will be performed from 7 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Monday.

Elizabeth Joye

LANCASTER - Mrs. Elizabeth H. Joye, 72, of 501 Gillsbrook Road died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church, with the Revs. Shane Patrick, Roy Barnes and Hal Melton officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of Marlboro County, Mrs. Joye was retired from Springs Memorial Hospital, where she also served as a volunteer. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was active in the Ola Mae Weir Circle. She was a volunteer at The Listening Center.

Surviving are her husband, Robert Ashley Joye; her son, Robert Luther Joye of Atlanta; four daughters, Carroll Long of Lancaster, Anita Dunlap of Easley, Patricia Moser of Charleston and Roberta Melton of Fuquay Varina, N.C.; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at the home.

Memorials may be made the First Baptist Church Library fund, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.
