Sara Brandon

FORT MILL - Mrs. Sara Lee Brandon, 82, of 3151 U.S. Highway 21 died Saturday, April 11, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Flint Hill Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Brandon was a homemaker and a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. She was the widow of Olin Brandon.

Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy B. Tucker; two brothers, H. Gregory Lee of Fort Mill and David L. Lee of Beaufort; her grandchild; and her great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to Flint Hill Baptist Church, 269 Flint Hill Road or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Ann Claxton

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Anna Pauline Derrick Claxton, 86, formerly of Marion Street, died Friday, April 10, 1998, at White Oak Manor in Lancaster.

Graveside services will be 6 p.m. today at Lake Wateree Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Arthur Kirk officiating.

A native of Johnston, Mrs. Claxton was retired as supervisor of the sewing room at South Carolina Baptist Hospital. She was a member of Lake Wateree Baptist Church.

Surviving is her son, Jimmy Claxton of Lake Wateree.

Memorials may be made to Lake Wateree Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 419W, Ridgeway, SC 29180-9725.

Mary Cornwell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Samuels Cornwell, died Friday, April 10, 1998.

The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First ARP Church, with the Rev. Robert J. Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Cornwell was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. She was a long-time member of First ARP Church, where she was a member of the Good Fellowship Class. Mrs. Cornwell had been active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion auxiliaries.

She was the widow of L. Rudolph Cornwell.

Surviving are four sisters, Esther Collins of Rock Hill, Alice Proctor of Chester, Ada Buchanan of Charlotte and Jeanie Marshall of Lake Wylie.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bass Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Esther Collins, 765 Emorywood Drive.

Memorials may be made to First ARP Church, P.O. Box 3114 CRS, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to the charity of one's choice.

Susie Hall

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Susie Mae Chitwood Hall, 80, of 736 S. Spruce St. died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at her home.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Greene Funeral Home, with Bishop Scott Garbett and the Rev. Mike Wooten officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.

Mrs. Hall was of the Baptist faith.

She was the widow of Glenn Parks Chitwood and Roy Henry Hall.

Surviving are two sons, George Parks Chitwood of Midland, N.C., and Glenn Larry Chitwood of Catawba; her daughter, Carolyn Jean Thomas of Rock Hill; her sister, Berdie Elliott Harvell of Fort Mill; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, S.C. Affiliate, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.

Robert Hill

YORK - Mr. Robert Lee Hill, 62, of 110 Washington St. died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Monday at Gold Hill Baptist Church in York, with the Rev. George McCoy officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

A native of York, Mr. Hill was a member of Gold Hill Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran and member of the Hoodtown Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Hill; five sons, Maurice Hill, Mario Hill and David Brown, all of the home, Victor Garvin of York and Michael Mills of Rock Hill; four daughters, Elaine Brown of Charlotte, Renee Adams of Rock Hill and Shirley Moore and Debra Martin, both of York; two brothers, Arthur Hill of Plainfield, N.J., and Bill Carrol of Los Angeles; two sisters, Mary L. Stimpson of Greensboro, N.C., and Annie L. Gill of York; 17 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Masonic Rites will be performed from 7 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Monday.

Leroy Steele

LANCASTER - Mr. Leroy Steele, 82, of 2209 Shiloh Unity Road died Friday, April 10, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church, with the Revs. Dale Roach, Eugene Carroll and Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A Lancaster County native, Mr. Steele was a World War II Army veteran. He was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Camp Creek Masonic Lodge and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline "Jackie" Smith Steele; his son, Michael L. Steele of Lancaster; his sister, Lillie Belle Stacks of Lancaster; two grandchildren and two great-granchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Baptist Church building fund, 204 Great Falls Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Rod Williams

ROCK HILL - Mr. Roderick "Rod" Clark Williams, 59, of 325 Guilford Road, died Thursday, April 9, 1998, at his home.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Tim McClendon and Linda Dunn officiating. Burial will be private.

Mr. Williams was a lifelong resident of Rock Hill. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. He had worked in commercial real estate for more than 30 years. He was instrumental in finding locations such as Carowinds and in the commercial development of Cherry Road.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Boone Williams; three daughters, Christine W. Spencer of Charlotte, Lauren W. Ludlam of Rock Hill and Meredith B. Williams of Charleston; his mother, Lina Nivens Williams of Rock Hill; two brothers, W.J. "Joe" Williams III of Chester and F. Lamar Williams of Archdale, N.C.; his sister, Kaye W. Bourne of Dallas; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in St. John's Center following the service and at other times at the home.
