Elizabeth Dixon

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon of 339 Sidney St., who died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at her home, will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, with the Rev. Charles A. Mason officiating and Minister Sandra Mason assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Dixon attended Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. She attended the public schools of York County. She was a member of the AP&B Society. She was a homemaker.

Surviving are her son, Floyd Dixon Jr. of the home; her daughter, Elizabeth Jones of York; and her sister, Helen Dixon of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Sarah Dover

CLOVER - Sarah Ashley Dover, the 3-month-old daughter of Crystal Renee Dover of 2463 Greenleaf Road died Wednesday, May 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Todd Reynolds officiating.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her maternal grandparents, Robert and Renee Dover of Clover; her maternal great-grandfather, Lloyd Dover of Clover; her maternal great-grandmother, Lillie Blackwelder of York.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Margaret Furman

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Margaret R. Furman, 70, of 1035 Glenarden Drive, Apartment F, died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour, with the Rev. Charles Foss officiating. Burial will be at Oakridge Cemetery in Bennettsville.

Mrs. Furman was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour. She was the widow of Clayton English Jr. and Ricky L. Furman.

Surviving are two sons, Gerry English of Mount Pleasant and John English of Charleston; her daughter, Allyson Cain of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Saturday at The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour.

Dora Kennington

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Dora Jean Snipes Kennington, 83, of 518 Iris Circle died Tuesday, May 12, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Forest Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Totherow officiating.

Mrs. Kennington attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church and Eastside Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and retired from the Rock Hill school district, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was the widow of William Roscoe Kennington.

Surviving are four sons, Bill Kennington of Columbia, Kenneth Kennington and Donald Kennington, both of Rock Hill, and Gary Kennington of Denver; her brother, Preston W. Snipes of Hartsville; two sisters, Ethel L. Snipes of Hartsville and Anna B. Cauthen of Rock Hill; a number of grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Arthur Neely Jr.

YORK - The funeral for Mr. Arthur D. Neely Jr., 75, of 213 Wylie Ave. who died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Tom Speed officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Neely was owner and operator of Neely Drug Store. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Rock Hill. He served with the 334th Infantry Division at the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and received the American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and three Bronze Service Stars. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtis Dyches Neely; his son, Arthur D. "Little Arthur" Neely III; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.

Willie Pettus

CLOVER - The funeral for Mr. Willie James "Buck" Pettus, 80, of 106 Carroway Lane, who died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mars Tabernacle Fire-Baptized Holiness Church, with the Rev. Sammie Tate officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Surviving are three sons, Shawn Adams of the home and Barry Pettus and Ernest Pettus, both of New Jersey; four daughters, Faye J. Tate of Clover, Raymon Pettus of the home, Parnice C. Tate of Gastonia, N.C., and Sandra Dasby of New Jersey; and his sister, Martha Pettus Setzer of Belmont, N.C.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 7:30 tonight at Generation Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Pat Phifer

LANCASTER - Mrs. Pat Hinson McJunkin Phifer, 64, of 605 N. Wylie St. died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Hopewell United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Rodney Powell and Ken Phelps officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Phifer was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher and taught at Buford High School and the University of South Carolina at Lancaster.

Surviving are her husband, Sam E. Phifer; two sons, Rhett McJunkin of Rock Hill and Chuck McJunkin of Lancaster; her brother, Billy Bruce Plyler of Lancaster; her half-brother, Charles R. Hinson of Lancaster; two half-sisters, Betty L. Hinson of Monroe, N.C., and Beverly Duncan of Lancaster; her stepson, Sam Phifer Jr. of Matthews, N.C.; and a stepdaughter, Dawn Patterson of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Hopewell United Methodist Church, 3734 Heyward Hough Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.
