Eulice Kennemur

CHESTER - Mrs. Eulice Burdine Kennemur, 85, of 1114 Panther Trail died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Chester Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating.

Mrs. Kennemur was the widow of John Noah Kennemur Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty Baptist Church. She attended the schools of Mississippi.

Surviving are her son, Robert H. Kennemur Sr. of Chester; her sister, Grace French of Selma, Ala.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Liberty Baptist Church, 1542 Liberty Road, Chester, SC 29706.

John Lee

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. John Thomas Lee of 127 Clemson Court, who died Thursday, May 14, 1998, at Mercy Hospital in Charlotte will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Red Oak AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Gary Smith and Pastor Rodney Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Lee attended the schools of Chester County. He was a member of Red Oak AME Zion Church, where he was a member of the AP&B Society. He retired from Duff Norton in Charlotte.

Surviving are his wife, Fannie Mae Lee; two sons, John E. Lee of Baltimore and James C. Lee of Rock Hill; six daughters, Helen Thron(CQ) of Washington, D.C., and Helen Howze, Lena Bolder, Martha McCullough, Lolene Barber and Dorothy Moffatt, all of Rock Hill; two brothers, Ernest Lee of Edgemoor and Joseph Lee of Rock Hill; three sisters, Mary McCullough, Winnie Barber and Ella Sibley, all of Edgemoor; 17 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

The family will receive friends at home.

Leroy Thorn Sr.

FORT MILL - The funeral for Mr. Leroy Thorn Sr. of 116 Avery St. who died Monday, May 11, 1998, at his home will be 1 p.m. Saturday at United AME Zion Church. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Thorn was a retired chef with Springs Industries. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of Messiah Presbyterian Church in Liberty Hill and attended United AME Zion Church in Fort Mill. He was a member of the Masonic Order No. 148.

Surviving are his wife, Rosa Belle Brevard Thorn; four sons, Roger Lee Thorn, Jerry Thorn, Leroy Thorn Jr. and Titus Thorn, all of Fort Mill; two daughters, Ollie Thorn Hicklin and Rosa Mae Thorn, both of Fort Mill; and his sister, Mattie Thorn Lane of Fort Mill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at United AME Zion Church.

The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

Leecy Weir

BLACKSTOCK - Mrs. Leecy Maloney Weir, 85, of 1486 Hopewell Church Road died Wednesday, May 13, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Hopewell ARP Church, with the Rev. Dwight Pearson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Weir was the widow of James Douglas McLurkin and Loy Whiteside Weir. She was a retired practical nurse and worked for Dr. W.J. Henry and Dr. W.R. Wallace for 30 years. She attended York County schools and completed her nursing training at Prior Hospital.

Surviving are her son, the Rev. James D. McLurkin of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials may be made to Hopewell ARP Church, 1391 Hopewell Church Road, Blackstock, SC 29014 or Maloney Scholarship Fund, c/o Erskine College, Due West, SC 29639.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Kathleen Ayers

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Fay Kathleen Tollison Ayers, 69, of 1656 Ebinport Road died Friday, May, 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Revs. Sollie Hicks and Bob Porterfield officiating.

Mrs. Ayers was a homemaker and a seamstress. She was retired from Wal-Mart. She graduated from Simpsonville High School, where she played basketball. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Ayers; two sons, Robert Wayne Ayers of Martinsville, Va. and Charles Edward Ayers of Rock Hill; three daughters, Linda Robertson of King, N.C., Sharon Baldini of Greensboro, N.C., and Deborah Thompson of Rock Hill; her sister Elizabeth Terry of Greenville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Hazel Broughton

LANCASTER - Mr. Hazel Jackson "Jack" Broughton, 68, of 3114 Oakland Drive died Friday, May 15, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Camp Creek United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kevin Cooley and Ashley Brunson officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Broughton was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Camp Creek United Methodist Church, the adult Bible class and the Camp Creek Men's Club. He was a member of the Hart Masonic Lodge No. 380, the Hejaz Shrine Temple, and the Jackson Shrine Club.

Surviving are his wife, Beulah Blalock Broughton; two daughters, June Stovall of Charleston and Joan Harmon of Heath Springs; his brother, James W. "Bill" Broughton of Lancaster; his sister, Mildred Byrd of Lancaster; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Camp Creek United Methodist Church, c/o Margaret Baker, 3768 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Irene Burroughs

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Mrs. Irene Moore Burroughs, 89, of Carter Circle died Thursday, May 14, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City, N.C. Burial will be in Westview Gardens Cemetery in Bessemer City, N.C.

Mrs. Burroughs was the widow of J.O. Burroughs. She was retired from Firestone.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Hager of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Jeanette Hager of Rock Hill; her sister, Pearl Stewart of Franklin, N.C.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.
