Robert Conner

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert A. Conner, 70, of 3505 Lazy Hawk Road died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Bass Funeral Home, with the Rev. Arthur Holt officiating. Burial will be at Mount Holly United Methodist Church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill and graduate of Rock Hill High School, Mr. Conner attended Coker College and the University of South Carolina. He was a retired lab technician from Celriver. He was a member of the Elks Club and Mount Holly United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Stanley Conner; four daughters, Rebecca Lynn Conner of Clinton, Cindy Sargent and Liz Conner, both of Talladaga, Ala., and Debi Phillips of Rock Hill; his mother, Thelma J. Conner of Rock Hill; his sister, Sylvia Richardson of Rock Hill; his brother, David L. Conner of Rock Hill; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Bass Funeral Home and after the service at the Mount Holly United Methodist Church family life center.

Memorials may be made to Mount Holly United Methodist Church, 1996 Mount Holly Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

William McCrorey

GREAT FALLS - Mr. William "Bill" J. McCrorey, 78, of 2 Church St., died Friday, May 8, 1998, in Richland Memorial Hospital.

The graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Evergreen Cemetery, with the Revs. John Rumford and C.O. Belk Jr. officiating.

A native of Chester County, Mr. McCrorey was a retired employee of Western Auto and had worked at Rose Petal Florist and Gift Shop. He was a charter member of the Lions Club, a charter member of the Jaycees and Governor of the Chester Moose Lodge. He was a member of Heath Chapel United Methodist Church and a Cub Scout Troop leader.

Surviving is his niece, Amelia M. Stalnaker of Columbia.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the home.

Memorials may be made to Heath Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Lawrence Stroud, 6086 Richburg Road, Great Falls, SC 29055.

Frances McFarland

BELLEAIR, Fla. - Mrs. Frances Councill McFarland, 89, of 1723 Cypress Ave. died Sunday, May, 3, 1998.

The graveside service was Wednesday at the Serenity Gardens Memorial Park in Largo, Fla., with the Rev. John H. Hires Jr. officiating.

Born in Norfolk, Va., Mrs. McFarland was the widow of Ret. Brig. Gen. Thomas Grady McFarland.

Surviving are her daughter, Sue McFarland Jones of Belleair; her son, Ret. Maj. Thomas Grady McFarland Jr. of Norfolk, Va.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Her niece, Nancy McFarland, lives in York.

Hubbell Funeral Home in Belleair Bluffs was in charge.

Memorials may be sent to the charity of one's choice.

Sybil Williams

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sybil Clanton Williams, 65, of 1262 Sullivan St. died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Herbert officiating.

Mrs. Williams retired as a bookkeeper for Tollison-Neal Drug Store after 35 years of employment. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her mother, Myrtle Clanton of Rock Hill; three sisters, Ruth Neal of Lancaster, Vonetta Abraham of Charlotte, and June Azilee Covington of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Northside Baptist Church, 1140 Curtis St., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Enid Roop

FORT LAWN -Mr. Enid Estel Roop, 77, of 1425 Casey Leggett Lane died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster.

A native of North Dakota, Mr. Roop was a World War II Army veteran, a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator.

Surviving are his son, Cherokee Roop of Florida; three daughters, Doris Staubitz of Alabama, Margaret Ruth Delph of Maryland and Enid Iris Floyd of Pennsylvania; his brother, Roy Roop of Maryland; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

The Cauthen Funeral Home, Lancaster Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Claude Dease

KERSHAW - Mr. Claude Dease, 78, of 7258 Sandhill Road, Kershaw, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with the Revs. Charles Youngs and Bobby Owens officiating. Burial will Masonic rites will be at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Dease was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board and was a member of the adult men's Sunday school class.

A Navy World War II veteran, he was a Mason and a 50-year member of Abney Lodge #211.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanette F. Dease; three sons, Charles Dease and Kenneth L. Dease, both of Lancaster, and Johnny Dease of Kershaw; three daughters, Pauline Hinson, Shirley Ann Bradley and Sandra Kay Taylor, all of Kershaw; his brother, William R. Dease of Kershaw; his sister, Annie Mae Reeves of Kershaw; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel.

Gene Dabbs Sr.

CHARLOTTE - The Rev. Gene "Tout" Dabbs Sr., 67, 11515 Elm Lane died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Independent Bible Baptist Church, with the Revs. Jason Coley and Jamie D. Coley officiating. Burial will be at Crown Memorial Park in Pineville, N.C.

A native of Mecklenburg County, N.C., the Rev. Dabbs was manager of Tipton Care Facility in Pineville, N.C., and was a member of Blessed Hope Baptist Church in Fort Mill. He was former pastor of New Fellowship Baptist Church in Fort Mill. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the former owner of Gene's Appliance Service in Fort Mill.

Surviving are his wife, Linda D. Dabbs; four sons, Gene Dabbs Jr. of Gastonia, N.C., Tim Cope, Ricky D. Cope and Jeff Dabbs, all of Fort Mill; three brothers, Harvey Dabbs of New York, Van Dabbs of Conway and Roy Clinton Dabbs of Fort Mill; five sisters, Mary Foster of Montgomery, Ala., Bonnie Simerson of Matthews, N.C., Patricia Johnson of Gastonia, N.C., Christine E. Dabbs and Gayle Sinclair, both of Charlotte; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Independent Baptist Church and other times at the home of his son, Tim Cope, 11793 Harrisburg Road, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to Independent Bible Baptist Church, 17025 Lancaster Highway, Pineville, NC 28277 or to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 1270 Williams Road, Fort Mill, SC 29715.
