Norene Jolley

MOORESBORO, N.C. - Mrs. Norene Causby Jolley, 81, of 193 Goode Road died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Rutherford Hospital.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Race Path Baptist Church with the Rev. John Godfrey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Rutherford County, Mrs. Jolley was retired from Cone Mills, Haynes plant. She was a member of Race Path Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher and choir member.

Surviving are her husband, E. Ray Jolley; two daughters, Shirley Padgett of Washington N.C., and Edie Dobbins of Rock Hill; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.

McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home of Cliffside, N.C., is in charge.

Wade Railey

KERSHAW - Mr. Wade "Bo" Railey, 67, of 7576 Kershaw-Camden Highway, died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, Kershaw Chapel, with Bruce McIssac officiating. Burial will be in Kershaw City Cemetery.

Born in Kershaw, Mr. Railey was a salesman for Quality Auto Sales.

Surviving are his mother, Leona Railey of Lancaster; his sister, Jessie Lee Polston of Lancaster; three nieces and three nephews.

Memorials may be made to charity of one's choice.

William Robinson

CHARLOTTE - The funeral for Mr. William Robinson of 301 W. Eighth St., Apt. 113 who died Sunday, May 10, 1998 at Mecklenburg Health Care Center will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Charles Robinson officiating. Burial will be at Red Oak AME Zion Church cemetery in Rock Hill.

Mr. Robinson attended the public schools of Chester County. He attended Red Oak AME Zion Church.

Surviving is his sister, Jenneta Lee of Edgemoor.

The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Lee, 3137 Dion Road, Edgemoor.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.

Addie Sowell

LANCASTER - Mrs. Addie Massey Sowell, 79, of 1695 Hillcrest Ave. died Saturday, May 9, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Immanuel Baptist Church with the Revs. Dale Roach and Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Lancaster County, Mrs. Sowell was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years.

She was the widow of James Ernest Sowell.

Surviving are two sons, Donald R. Sowell and Ernest "Ben" Sowell, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Sybil Powers and Gayle Small, both of Lancaster; two brothers, Bill Massey of Lancaster and Billy Jack Massey of Great Falls; three sisters, Dolly Walker of Clover, Beatrice Gurganious and Wilma Sinclair, both of Lancaster; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 1152 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Alma Sowell

LANCASTER - Mrs. Alma Broughton Sowell, 87, of 2151 Cane Mill Road, died Sunday, May 10, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Owens officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Kershaw County, Mrs. Sowell was retired from the weaving department at Springs Industries' Lancaster plant. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

She was the widow of Henry Clyde "H.C." Sowell.

Surviving are her sister, Lucille Hammond of Lancaster and several nieces and nephews, including her caregiver, Jerry Broughton.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Hartley Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1116, Lancaster, SC 29721.

William Stewart

LANCASTER - Mr. William T. Stewart, 82, died Friday, May 8, 1998, in Bishopville.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary AME Zion Church with the Rev. Robert L. Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Born in Lancaster, Mr. Stewart was retired from Springs Industries. He was the widower of Viola Stewart.

Surviving are two daughters, Rosa Love of Charlotte and Joann Henderson of St. Paul, Minn.; two adopted sons, Lt. Russell Stewart of Lugoff and Douglas Ingram of Charlotte; his adopted daughter, Carolyn Burthy of Charlotte; and his brother, Lewis "LJ" Stewart of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Crawford Funeral Home.

Charles Blakeney (1 of 2)

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Minister Charles "Red" Blakeney of 1246 Ogden Road, who died Friday, May 8, 1998, at his home will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church with the Rev. Daniel Walker officiating and Pastor Fred Blakeney assisting. Burial will be in Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Minister Blakeney attended the public schools of York County.

He was a member of the World's Life Temple and was a veteran of the U.S. Army and Air Force.

He was a faithful supporter of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are his wife, Pastor Tina Jones Blakeney; his daughter, Karen B. Thompson of Rock Hill; his stepson, Clifton Cornell Thornton of Chicago; four grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home.

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Minister Charles "Red" Blakeney of 1246 Ogden Road, who died Friday, May 8, 1998, at his home, will be 4 p.m. today at New Mount Olivet AME Zion Church with the Rev. He was a member of the Word Is Life Temple. He was a veteran of the Army and Air Force and earned the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Occupation Ribbon. He was a faithful supporter of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are his wife, Pastor Tina Jones Blakeney; his daughter, Karen B. Thompson of Rock Hill; his stepson, Clifton Cornell Thornton of Chicago; four grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.
