John Carroll

ROCK HILL - Mr. John E. Carroll, 71, of 3900 Crestview Drive died Monday, May 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Greene Funeral Home.

Ira Durham

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. Ira Durham of 1674 Mulberry Circle who died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his home will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at By Faith Pentecostal Holiness Church, with Bishop Tommy Durham officiating and the Rev. Mary Crosby assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Durham was a native of York County. He was a mechanic and a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church. He attended York County public schools.

Surviving are his brothers, A.W. "Dub" Durham of Rock Hill; two sisters, Eloise King of Rock Hill and Lottie Stowe of Shelby, N.C.; and his niece, Betty Howard, with whom he resided.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Wednesday.

Willie Harris Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Willie Lee "Bill" Harris Jr., 67, of Rock Hill died Monday, May 5, 1998.

The funeral, with military honors, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Bethel United Methodist Church in Olar, with the Revs. Edward Stiltz and Wilbur Creech officiating. Burial will be at Starr Cemetery in Olar.

Mr. Harris was retired as a captain from the Marine Corps after 30 years of service.

Surviving are his wife, Delores Sanders Harris; five sons, Terry Harris of Charleston, Jimmy Harris of Albany, Ga., Greg Harris of Bainbridge, Ga., and Jerry Harris and Robert Harris, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Robert Harris of Columbus, Miss.; four sisters, Ann Grossman of Diamond Head, Miss., Carol Crowley of Van Cleave, Miss., and Pat Rutland and Dean Howington, both of Wesson, Miss.; and 11 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mole Funeral Home in Barnwell.

Elizabeth Jeter

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. Elizabeth Wylie Jeter, 82, of 2710 Saluda Road who died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Chester County Hospital will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. Thompson officiating and Evangelist Georgette Boulware and the Rev. W.H. Woods Jr. assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Jeter was a Chester native. She was member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she was a deaconess, missionary, member of the AP&B Society No. 3, the Union Aide Society and a former usher. She was a homemaker and the widow of the late Oscar Jeter.

Surviving are two daughters, Janett McFadden of Chester and Pearlene Jackson of Detroit, Mich.; her brother, Willie Wylie of the home; her sister, Johnnie Mae Barber of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home. The body may be viewed from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

Bobby Sinclair

LANCASTER - Mr. Bobby Edward Sinclair, 64, of 2572 Pink Plyler Road died Monday, May 4, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Donnie Snipes and Donald Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mr. Sinclair was a member of the Word of Life Church of God. He was retired from Springs Industries' Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley B. Sinclair; his son, Jerome Sinclair of Lancaster; three daughters, Buffy Eason, Kimberly Sanders and Pam Johnson, all of Lancaster; his mother, Pauline Adams Sinclair of Lancaster; his sister, Virginia Wallace of Lancaster; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Word of Life Church of God, 305 E. Arch St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Mac Swearinger

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. Mac G. Swearinger of 123 Duckett Court who died Monday, May 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eugene Goodwin officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Swearinger was a graduate of Cardoza High School in Washington, D.C. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are his wife, Bessie Adams Swearinger; three sons, Eddie James Durham and Ronnie Adams, both of Rock Hill, and Leonard Charles of Baltimore; five daughters, Elevalene Shipton of Seattle, Doris Ann Garvin of Suitland, Md., Antoinette Swearinger of Washington, and Dorothy English and Mary Adams, both of Rock Hill; two brothers, Osric Proctor of Hopewell, Va., and Gregory Proctor of Landover, Md.; his sister, Betty Swearinger Small of Temple Hill, Md.; and 17 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Gloria Benson

YORK - Mrs. Gloria Jean Cuculich Benson, 53, of 5370 Forest Winds Drive died Tuesday, May 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be private.

Mrs. Benson was an office manager for the Best Holiday Inc.

Surviving are her husband, Gregory P. Benson; her son, Frank Harazin of Carpentersville, Ill.; her brother, Steve Cuculich of Chicago; three sisters, Susan Cuculich of California, Gwen Cuculich and Gail Cuculich, both of Chicago; and four grandchildren.

Cauthen Funeral Home in Rock Hill is in charge.

Fred Culp

CHARLOTTE - Fred Culp, 44, of 4500 Wynbrook Way Apartment 80, died Sunday, May 3, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at King's Funeral Home Chapel in Charlotte. Burial will be at the Beatties Ford Memorial Gardens in Charlotte.

Born in Rock Hill, Mr. Culp attended the public schools of York County.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Culp of the home; his son, Fred Lewis Culp Jr. of Charlotte; three daughters, Lafewanda Baxter, Kristen Sharpe and Felicia Culp, all of Charlotte; his mother, Charlie May of Rock Hill; his stepmother Maggie Cloud of Charlotte; five sisters Casandra Cloud and Deameris Cloud, both of Charlotte, Eva Mae Walker of Harlem, N.Y., and Emma Bellamy and Darlene Stevenson, both of Rock Hill; four brothers, James Cloud of Charlotte, Aaron Stevenson of Rock Hill, and Clyde Stevenson and Sammy Stevenson, both of Edgemoor; his aunt, Annie B. Anders of Rock Hill, who reared him; and his grandchild.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Thursday at King's Funeral Home.
