Thomas Smith Sr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas J. "T.J." Smith Sr., 67, of 640 Simpson St. died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Revs. R.V. Washington, Ronal King and John Brown officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mr. Smith attended York County public schools. He was formerly employed by the city of Rock Hill, and attended Rock Grove AME Zion Church.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas James Smith Jr. of Rock Hill and Aaron Smith of Columbia; his daughter, Patricia A. Smith of Rock Hill; three brothers, Elliott Smith, Allen Crosby and Samuel Crosby, all of Rock Hill; eight sisters, Mildred Adams, Lena Porter, Janita Barnette, Louise B. Holt, Shirley Dickson and Katherine Chisholm, all of Rock Hill, Alberta Crosby of Rockway Center, N.Y., and Emma Crosby of Hempstead, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Thomas James Jr., 504 N. Confederate St. and at other times at 640 Simpson St.
The body may be viewed at Robinson Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Iva Mae Williams
LANCASTER - Miss Iva Mae Williams, 87, of 1407 14th St. died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at a Columbia hospital.
A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dr. James D. Spencer III officiating.
A Lancaster native, Miss Williams was a member of Second Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are four brothers, Woodrow Williams of Lugoff, David Williams of Baltimore, and Raymond Williams and Billy Williams, both of Lancaster; and her sister, Alma Carnes of Cramerton, N.C.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church, 1426 Great Falls Hwy., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Sadie Wright
EDGEMOOR - Mrs. Sadie Kirby Wright, 61, of 1574 Crows Nest Drive died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at Lando Church of God, with the Rev. C.L. Simons officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.
Born in Chester, Mrs. Wright was a homemaker and was retired from Manetta Mills, where she worked for more than 35 years in the spinning and twisting departments. She was of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of David Wright.
Surviving are her son, David Reynolds of the home; her daughter, Renee Cooper of Charlotte; her half-sister, Johnnie Burriss of Edgemoor; eight grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to Lando Church of God building fund, S.C. 901, Lando, SC 29712.

Ruth Adams
LANCASTER - Mrs. Ruth Horton Adams, 84, of 1617 Springdell Road died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Lancaster Convalescent Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. James D. Spencer III officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.
Born in Lancaster County, Mrs. Adams was a retired nurse assistant. She was a member of Second Baptist Church where she was a member of Friendship Sunday school class. She was the widow of Johnny Adams.
Surviving are three brothers, Claude Horton and Jack Horton, both of Lancaster, and Poovery Horton of West Columbia; and her sister, Ethel Horton Williams of Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Second Baptist Church building fund, 1426 Great Falls Highway, Lancaster, SC 29720.

George Anthony
ROCK HILL - Mr. George L. Anthony, 75, of 1613 Stonehill Place died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Laurelwood Cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mr. Anthony was a graduate of Winthrop Training School. He was a First Lieutenant in Europe during World War II and was a member of the American Legion. He was retired from Rosson and Richards of Charlotte.
Surviving are his wife, Joan Silverberg Anthony; his son, Stephen G. Anthony of Hilton Head; his daughter, Donna Anthony Givens of Rock Hill; his sister, Margie Anthony Faris of Rock Hill; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Columbia, SC 29204.

Virginia Barnett
CLOVER - Miss Virginia Craig Barnett, 82, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Magnolia Manor in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Gess officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Formerly of Clover, Miss Barnett was a lifelong member of Bethel Presbyterian Church and was retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co.
Surviving is her sister, Mary Neal Adams of Gastonia, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2445 S.C. Highway 557, Clover, SC 29710.

Annie Brown
ROCK HILL - Miss Annie Beatrice Brown, 71, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Charles Ferguson
AUGUSTA, Ga. - Mr. Charles Bethea Ferguson of 3418 Blackstone St. died Friday, Jan. 30, 1998, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
The funeral will be noon Saturday at Friendship Chapel in Fort Gordon, with chaplain Dennis Hysom officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park with full military honors.
Born in Chester County, Mr. Ferguson retired from the Army as a sergeant first class after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of Vietnam and was retired from the Veterans Affairs Medical Center as a building service supervisor. He was a graduate of the Augusta Area Technical School, where he completed studies in commercial food service management. He was a member of Prince Hall Masonic Order Mistletoe Lodge No. 31.
Surviving are his wife, Mary R. Ferguson; three daughters, Doris Walker of Rock Hill, and Barbara F. Flowers and Charlene F. Trotter, both of Augusta, Ga.; two brothers, Clayton Ferguson and Vincent Moore, both of Charlotte; four sisters, Emma F. Barbara of Columbia, Louise F. Moore and Beatrice F. Moore, both of Rock Hill, and Carrie F. Gill of Orlando, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home or at the home.

James Hendricks
YORK - Mr. James Bruce Hendricks, 61, of 998 Daves Road died Monday, Feb. 2, 1998, in Charlotte.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. today at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
Born in Pickens County, Mr. Hendricks was retired from Duke Power's Catawba Plant. He was a member of Griffin Baptist Church near Pickens, a member of Corinthian Lodge No. 416 A.F.M. in Rock Hill and the Hejaz Temple of the Shrine in Greenville.
Surviving are his wife, Velda Stone Hendricks; two sons, Charles Melvin Hendricks of Huntersville, N.C., and Phillip David Hendricks of the home; and his daughter, Tonya Reene Hendricks of the home.
Dillard Memorial Funeral Home is in charge.

Robert Lindemann
ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert L. Lindemann, 76, of 2346 Raven Drive died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1998, at his home.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Woodland United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Delbert Regier, Russ Brown and Tom Pietila officiating.
A native of Chicago, Mr. Lindemann was a retired sales manager for the Continental Can Co., now Sonoco Products, Inc. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he fought in the European theater. He was a member of Woodland United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Treva Miller Lindemann; two sons, Jeffrey L. Lindemann of Dallas and Dr. Robert C. Lindemann of Rock Hill; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the church after the service and at other times at the home.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 312, Columbia, SC 29204 or to the American Heart Association, S.C. Affiliate, P.O. Box 6604, Columbia, SC 29260.
