Mark Hollowell

CHARLOTTE - Mr. Mark Thomas Hollowell, 47, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. today at Sardis Presbyterian Church, with Dr. J. Thomas Kort officiating.

Born in Springfield, Ohio, Mr. Hollowell graduated from George Williams College and later received an MBA from Winthrop University. He was employed with the YMCA for 25 years and was vice-president of the YMCA of Greater Charlotte for the past 15 years. He was a member of Sardis Presbyterian Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and an elder.

Surviving are his wife, Anne Sumwalt Hollowell; his son, Adam Hollowell of Charlotte; his daughter, Beth Hollowell of Charlotte; his parents, Albert and Juanita Hollowell of Dacula, Ga.; two brothers, Jeff Hollowell of Lithonia, Ga., and Dave Hollowell of Winter Springs, Fla.; his sister, Cindy Hollowell of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and his grandparents, Orville and Lucille Crist of Springfield, Ohio.

The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall immediately after the memorial service.

Memorials may be made to the Beth and Adam Hollowell Education Trust Fund, c/o Delaney and Sellers, 301 S. McDowell St., Ste 410, Charlotte, NC 28204; to Sardis Presbyterian Church youth mission trips, 6100 Sardis Road, Charlotte, NC 28270; or to the Community Outreach Fund of YMCA of Greater Charlotte, 500 E. Morehead St., Charlotte, NC 28202.

Evelyn Layton

CHESTER - A graveside service for Mrs. Evelyn "Ebbie" Colvin Layton, 71, of 149 Walnut St., who died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Chester County Hospital will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery, with the Rev. Will Brown officiating.

Mrs. Layton was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church. A homemaker, she was the widow of Thomas Harold Layton. She was a graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas C. Layton and Robert Michael Layton, both of Chester; two brothers, Howard "Bubba" Colvin and Bobby Colvin, both of Chester; her sister, Mary C. Colvin of Chester; and her grandson.

The family will receive friends at 149 Walnut St.

Susie Mobley

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. Susie M. Mobley, 95, of 173 Murray St., who died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Chester County Hospital, will be 4 p.m. today at Eternal Rock Church.

The Rev. Bernard Morris will officiate and the Revs. Floyd Briggs and Charlie Briggs and Brother J.D. Hughes will assist.s Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mobley was a native of Chester. She was a retired domestic worker and a member of The Triumph the Church and Kingdom of God and Christ where she was mother of the church.

Surviving are her son, James Mobley of Mullins; two daughters, Eva Mae Caldwell and Irene Coleman, both of Chester; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at 3 p.m. today.

William Sanders

YORK - The funeral for Mr. William Sanders, 50, of 315 California St. who died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at his home will be 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke No. 2 Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Bruce Smith officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Sanders was a chain saw operator. He was a member of St. Luke No. 2 Baptist Church and attended public schools in York County.

Surviving are his mother, Dora Bell Sanders of the home; two brothers, Thomas A. Sanders of York and John J. Sanders of McConnells; his sister, Joanne Love of York and his special friend, Mary T. Miller of York.

Viewing will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Wright Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home.

Kenneth Stout

LAKE WYLIE - Mr. Kenneth Earl Stout, 60, of 6320 Charlotte Highway died Thursday, April 30, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memory Gardens in York, with the Rev. Bobby Sherbert officiating.

Mr. Stout was the retired owner of Carolina Grocery in Clover and a retired auctioneer.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Jimison Stout; two sons, David Elliott Stout of Clover and David Michael Jimison of the home; his daughter, Penny Fair of Murrells Inlet; his sister, Charlotte Morgan of East Flat Rock, N.C.; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Daisy Tate

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mrs. Daisy Hunt Robinson Tate of Philadelphia, formerly of Rock Hill, who died Thursday, April 23, 1998, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Tate was a retired seamstress. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, where she formerly served on the hymn choir and the musical choir.

Surviving are two sons, Johnny Robinson and Felton Robinson, both of Philadelphia; four daughters, Ann Ruffin, Janice Williams, Marlene Williams and Hazel Lucille Robin, all of Philadelphia; two brothers, Robert Hunt and James "Bunny" Hunt, both of Rock Hill; four sisters, Willie Steele, Corene Gray, Pearline Cureton, all of Rock Hill and Josephine Fudge of Philadelphia; 21 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday at the church and at other times at 512 State St. Extension.

Florence Thompson

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Florence Marie Thompson, 84, of 1228 Crystal Circle, formerly of Richlands, Va., died Sunday, April 26.

The funeral was Wednesday at First United Methodist Church in Richlands, with the Rev. James Hollenhead officiating. Burial was at Hankins Cemetery.

Mrs. Thompson was a longtime resident of Richlands. She moved to Rock Hill eight years ago. She retired after 35 years from W.B.F. White & Sons, Richlands. She was a member of Richlands First United Methodist Church and the Josephine White Circle, serving as treasurer for 40 years.

Surviving are her son, K.T. "Ken" Thompson of Jamestown, N.C.; her daughter, Shirley Maxine Jones of Rock Hill; her sister, Donnie Cable Neal of Bowie, Md.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Hurst-Scott Funeral Home, Richlands, is in charge.
