Walter Wallace

FORT MILL - Mr. Walter "Pee Wee" Wallace, 47, of 1428 Legion Road died Wednesday, April 29, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Fort Mill Church of God. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

Mr. Wallace was employed by the Town of Fort Mill.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Faye Wallace; three sons, Michael Joseph Wallace, Christopher Barron Wallace and Jonathan Wayne Wallace, all of Fort Mill; two brothers, Emmett Eugene Wallace and Donald "Joe" Wallace, both of Fort Mill; four sisters, Betty Moree, Louvenia Steen and Helen Rabon, all of Fort Mill, and Judy Walker of Indian Land.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his sister, Helen Rabon, 288 S. Sutton Road, Fort Mill.

Grady Wylie

NEW YORK - Mr. Grady Cole Wylie of 333 E. 90th St., Apt. 2-G died Sunday, April 26, 1998 at a veterans hospital.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's Church in New Haven, Conn.

Wades Funeral Home, 95 Dixwell Ave., New Haven, CT 06511 is in charge.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Ethel Bowen

ESCONDIDO, Calif. - Mrs. Ethel Mae Bowen, 59, formerly of Shelby, N.C., died Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in Escondido.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Crosswind Church in San Marco, Calif. Burial will be private.

Surviving are her her husband, Forrest William Bowen; her son, Michael W. Bowen of Escondido; three daughters, Yvonne Cook of Temecula, Calif., and Kathy Mistowski and Teresa Kay Valigura, both of Escondido; her mother, Zennie May Hamrick of Earl, N.C.; five brothers, Dennis Hamrick of Earl, N.C., Benton Hamrick and Ray Hamrick, both of Rock Hill, and Harold Hamrick and Floyd Hamrick, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Patricia Hamrick of Shelby, N.C., and Nancy Ledbetter of Boiling Springs, N.C.; and nine grandchildren.

McLeod Mortuary is in charge.

Annie Byars

CHESTER - Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Edge Byars, 78, of 1918 Marshall Byars Road died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bob Craven officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Byars was retired from Springs Industries. The widow of Marshall Byars Jr., she was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and its Videlis Sunday school class. She also taught Sunday school at Westside Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Chester High School.

Surviving are her daughter, Barbara Byars Carter of Chester; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 760 Calvary Church Road, Chester, SC 29706.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge.

Sylvia Broom

FORT MILL - A graveside service for Ms. Sylvia Broom, 56, of 1053 RPC Road, who died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center will be 11 a.m. today at Unity Cemetery, with the Rev. Jason Coley officiating.

Ms. Broom was a homemaker.

Surviving are her brother, William D. Broom of Fort Mill; three sisters, Annie Marthers of Fort Mill, Barbara Fisher of Pineville, N.C., and Patricia Brock of Rock Hill.

Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Johnny Clack

CHESTER - Mr. Johnny William Clack, 88, of 1148 Liberty Road died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jimmy Sanders officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mr. Clack was retired from Milliken Textile Co. He attended Chester County Schools and was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Lillie Bell Lipford Clack; two sons, Francis Clack of Blair and Leon Clack of Chester; his daughter, Elizabeth Brakefield of Greenville; two brothers, J.T. Clack and Robert Clack, both of Chester; two sisters, Mary Dove and Ruth Ferrell, both of Chester; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First Freewill Baptist Church building fund, P.O. Box 1656, Chester, SC 29706 or to Hospice Community Home Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Gary Hawkins

CLOVER - Mr. Gary Dean Hawkins, 47, of 444 Declaration Place died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Gaston officiating.

Mr. Hawkins was employed with Tony's of Lake Wylie.

Surviving are his wife, Althea S. Hawkins; two sons, Charles Lee Hawkins and Bruce Garrett Hawkins, both of the home; two daughters, Angelia D. Motsinger and Regina Lynn Gordon, both of Clover; his mother, Pearl S. Hawkins of Gastonia, N.C.; and four sisters, Edith Gaston, Faye Owenby, Gail Meeks and Diane Wright, all of Gastonia.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 364 S. Pine St., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
