John Lesslie Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John M. Lesslie Sr., 83, of 3747 Lesslie Highway died Friday, May 1, 1998, at his home.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Neely's Creek ARP Church cemetery. A memorial service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the Rev. Bill Fleming officiating.

Mr. Lesslie was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Erskine College. He was in the infantry in World War II, and retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years of service. Mr. Lesslie was co-owner of White Oak Farms Inc. A lifelong member of Neely's Creek ARP Church, he was a deacon, elder, church treasurer and clerk of the session.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Culp Lesslie; two sons, Dr. John M. Lesslie Jr. of Rock Hill and Leonard Lesslie of Irmo; his daughter, Jane L. Culp of Rock Hill; his brother, Robert S. Lesslie of Rock Hill; his sister, Mary Grier L. Junker of Clinton; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Neely's Creek ARP Church, 974 Neely's Creek Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

James Lindsey

SAUCIER, Miss. - Mr. James Rusty Lindsey, 58, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, April 27, 1998, in Texarkana, Ark.

Burial was at Finley Cemetery in Harrison County.

Mr. Lindsey was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Gulfport, Miss. He was a self-employed truck driver.

Surviving are his wife, Ila Lindsey; his father, Judge Lindsey of Bristol, Tenn.; his stepmother Sue Lee Engle of Rock Hill; five daughters, Misty Lindsey of the home, Rebecca Sue Parsons of Marietta, Ga., and Carol Roberts, Fayla Lindsey, and Regina Lindsey, all of Gulfport; three sisters, Kay Falls of Kings Creek, and Carole Criminger and Linda Lindsey, both of Rock Hill; and two grandchildren.

Reimann Memorial Funeral Home was in charge.

Cora Lynn

TAYLORS - Mrs. Cora Burns Lynn, 95, of 4725 Locust Hill Road died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at her home.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Woodlawn Memorial Park.

Mrs. Lynn was the widow of John Fred Lynn. She was a member of Jackson Grove United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of the Old Six Mile Baptist Academy of Pickens and taught primary grades for many years.

Surviving are two sons, Marshall Dennis Lynn of York and Fred Lynn Jr. of Taylors; and two daughters, Evelyn Lynn Earle and Betty Erlene Lynn Manly, both of Greenville.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 tonight at Wood Mortuary in Greer.

Lorraine Moffatt

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. Lorraine McCoy Moffatt, 42, of 1364 Gethsemane Road who died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Chester County Hospital, will be 2 p.m. today at St. Paul Baptist Church in Lowrys.

The Rev. George Lowry will officiate and the Rev. Bobby Featherstone will assist.

Mrs. Moffatt was a homemaker and Chester County native. She was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are three daughters, Subrina Moffat of Gastonia, N.C., and Betty McCoy and Marylin Moffatt, both of Chester; her parents, L.C. and Mamie B. McCoy of Gastonia, N.C.; three brothers, El Houston McCoy, Robert McCoy and Dorth McCoy, all of Gastonia, N.C.; 10 sisters, Janie Mae Jennings, Reola Mayfield and Julia Ann McCoy, all of Chester, and Sarah Jennings, Rose Anna McCoy, Denise McCoy, Yvonne McCoy, Kathleen McCoy, Delois Leach and Loretha McCoy, all of Gastonia, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

The body will be taken to the church at 12:30 p.m. today.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge.

Ruth Patrick

LANCASTER - Mrs. Ruth Wages Patrick, 91, of 614 N. Catawba St., died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Revs. Shane Patrick, Roy Barnes and Randall H. Sheetz officiating.

Mrs. Patrick was the widow of T. Lloyd Patrick. She was a retired nurse and graduated in 1927 from the Gaffney City School of Nursing. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her son, Thomas L. Patrick Jr. of Lancaster; her sister, Lucy Patterson of Spartanburg; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

Edna Stilwell

FORT MILL - Miss Edna Lavinia Stilwell, 92, of Westminster Towers in Rock Hill died Thursday, April 30, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A private service will be Sunday. Burial will be Monday at Laurelwood Cemetery.

Miss Stilwell was a retired school teacher and had lived most of her life in Bemidji, Minn., where she was a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving is her brother, Roscoe Stilwell of Seattle.

Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Betty Varnadore

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Betty Curry Varnadore, 63, of 2516 Taxidermist Drive died Friday, May 1, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Zion Baptist Church, with the Revs. Larry Roberts and Paul Nix officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Varnadore was the widow of William H. Varnadore. She was formerly employed as a sewing machine operator at Cinderella Mills in Great Falls. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church and a graduate of Lewisville High School.

Surviving are her sister, Jennie McKeller of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Baptist Church, Route 1, Box 1058, Great Falls, SC 29055 or Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.
