Jimmie Hughes

CHESTER - Mr. Jimmie M. Hughes, 49, of 620 Angel Road died Friday, May 1, 1998, at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

Elizabeth Jeter

CHESTER - Mrs. Elizabeth Wylie Jeter, 82, of 2710 Saluda Road died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by King's Funeral Home.

John Lesslie Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. John M. Lesslie Sr., 83, of 3747 Lesslie Highway died Friday, May 1, 1998, at his home.

Burial will be at 3 p.m. today at Neely's Creek ARP Church cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Bill Fleming officiating.

Mr. Lesslie was a graduate of Rock Hill High School and Erskine College. He was in the infantry in World War II, and retired from the United States Postal Service after 37 years of service. Mr. Lesslie was co-owner of White Oak Farms Inc. A lifelong member of Neely's Creek ARP Church, he was a deacon, elder, church treasurer and clerk of the session.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Culp Lesslie; two sons, Dr. John M. Lesslie Jr. of Rock Hill and Leonard Lesslie of Irmo; his daughter, Jane L. Culp of Rock Hill; his brother, Robert S. Lesslie of Rock Hill; his sister, Mary Grier L. Junker of Clinton; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Neely's Creek ARP Church, 974 Neely's Creek Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Bass Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sandra Mazzamauro

LAKE WYLIE - Mrs. Sandra Lou Mazzamauro, 60, of 294 Carroll Cove Road died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Mazzamauro was employed with Belk at Carolina Place mall.

Surviving are her husband, Louis P. Mazzamauro; her son, Erik Levy of Philadelphia; her daughter, Emi Giuliano of Stratford, N.J.; her brother, Ralph Schwarz of Wilkes Barre, Pa.; two sisters, Penny Cannella of Hazelton, Pa., and Lana Portnoy of Longwood, Fla.; and her grandchild.

M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home in Clover is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Needham

SURFSIDE BEACH - Mr. Robert O. Needham, 76, of 11th Ave. North died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at Conway Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday at Surfside United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery.

Born in Camden, N.J., Mr. Needham was employed with the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict. He was a member of Surfside United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Christine Poston Needham; his son, Thomas A. Needham of York; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.

Peter Sanders Jr.

CHESTER - Mr. Peter Hampton "Pete" Sanders Jr., 76, of 3202 Mount Prospect Church Road died Saturday, May 2, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Armenia United Methodist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Sanders was retired from Springs Industries with 42 years of service. He was a member of Armenia United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley L. Sanders; four sons, Joseph H. Sanders of Chester, Robert "Skip" Sanders of Clover, Richard "Rick" Sanders and Malcolm "Tony" Sanders, both of Chester; his daughter, Donna Markel of Nashville, Tenn.; his brother, Julian Sanders of Chester; two sisters, Annie Mae Wrenn of Chester and Betty Stroud of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of York County, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730; or Armenia United Methodist Church parking lot fund, 2840 Armenia Road, Chester, SC 29706.

James Sealy

CHESTER - Mr. James Thomas Sealy, 71, of 2811 Cassells Road died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Chester County Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Saluda Street Church of God, with the Rev. Dennis Reid officiating, and the Rev. Mike Woods assisting. Burial will be at the Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Born in Chester County, he completed classes in blueprint reading at Spartanburg Technical College and retired as a machinist with the Virginia Chemical Co. He had been previously employed with Torrington Bearing Co. He was a Chester County magistrate for 28 years and had been chief magistrate since 1988. He was a Navy veteran and was a member of the Saluda Street Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Deal Sealy; four brothers, L.B. Sealy Jr., Walter Sealy and Richard Sealy, all of Rock Hill, and Melvin Sealy of Sutter Creek, Calif.; three sisters, Kathleen Clayton and Evelyn "Cricket" Jones, both of Chester, and Ethel Harris of Charlotte; and his sister-in-law, Lynn Deal of Chester, who was raised in his home.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Saluda Street Church of God, Saluda Street, Chester, SC 29706.

Mattie Stephenson

CHESTER - Mrs. Mattie Mae Estes Stephenson, 75, of 1363 Lowrys Highway died Friday, May 1, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lowrys Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roger Thomas and the Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Chester Memorial Gardens.

Born in Chester County, Mrs. Stephenson was a homemaker and attended Lowrys Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Joe Harold Stephenson, Wayne Stephenson and Dean Stephenson, all of Chester; three daughters, Jeanette Thomas, Patsy Brantley and Diane Sisk, all of Chester; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.
