Hubert Renew

AIKEN - Mr. Hubert J. "Red" Renew, 75, of 1385 Silver Bluff Road died Friday, April 24, 1998, at Aiken Regional Medical Centers.

Burial was at Sunset Memory Gardens.

Mr. Renew was a member of St. John United Methodist Church in Graniteville. He was retired from Graniteville Co., Gregg Division, and was the widower of Margie Porter Renew.

Surviving are his son, Edward Renew of Graniteville; two daughters, Lynn Montgomery of Rock Hill and Lois Morrison of Graniteville; two sisters, Virginia Hall and Myrtis Timmerman, both of Aiken; four grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, S.C. Affiliate, 2711 Middleburg Road, Columbia, SC 29204.

Edwin Rowell

LANCASTER - Mr. Edwin L. Rowell, 70, of 2512 Great Falls Highway died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Lancaster Memorial Park, with the Rev. Sam Thomas officiating.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Rowell was a retired postal clerk, working in the Lancaster Post Office for 38 years. He was a World War II Navy veteran.

Surviving are his wife, Mitzi Taylor Rowell; his son, Robert E. Rowell of Charlotte; his sister, Avis Hammond of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge.

Ollie Sullivan

JEFFERSON - Ms. Ollie Frances Sullivan, 68, of Jefferson died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at her home.

Burial was at the Fork Creek United Methodist Church cemetery.

Survivors include two brothers, Bill Sullivan and Howard Sullivan, both of Rock Hill.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Michael Haynes

ROCK HILL - Mr. Michael Landon Haynes, 21, of 2658 Vistawood Road died Tuesday, April 28, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Anglin and Michael Hanley officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Mr. Haynes was the sales manager for Clayton's Mobile Homes in Lancaster. He attended Rock Hill High School. An avid body builder, he was a member of the Sons of American Legion Frank Roach Post 34 in Rock Hill. He was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are his father, Delmer Leon Haynes of Rock Hill; his mother, Carol Munn Mangum of Marshville, N.C.; and his maternal grandparents, James David and Betty Munn of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 2658 Vistawood Road and at the home of his grandparents, 4495 Wood Duck Point.

Memorials may be made to Hale Gold Mine Baptist Church, 7098 Hale Gold Mine Road, Kershaw, SC 29067 or to Church of God of Belton, 313 North Main St., Belton, SC 29627.

Daisy Tate

PHILADELPHIA, Penn. - Mrs. Daisy Robinson Tate of Philadelphia, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, April 23, 1998.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Norris Helms

MONROE, N.C. - Mr. Norris DeWitt Helms, 74, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Union Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Helms was retired from Hoechst-Celanese in Rock Hill.

Surviving are his wife, Nannie Newell Helms; his son, Eric Helms of Monroe; his daughter, Mitzi Helms of Monroe; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at McEwen Funeral Home.

Elsie Williams

LANCASTER - Mrs. Elsie Bowers Williams, 81, of 1204 Crestfield Drive died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Mercy South Hospital in Pineville.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Shane Patrick and Roy Barnes officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Williams was a retired librarian for the Lancaster County school system and worked at Central Elementary School and Lancaster High School. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, where she earned a degree in library science. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and First Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Albert Lee "Bob" Williams; two sons, Albert "Al" Lee Williams Jr. of Van Wyck and Kim Wesley Williams of Louisville, Ky.; her brother, R.Y. "Sonny" Bowers Jr. of Lancaster; her sister, Frances Bowers Collins of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:30 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials my be made to First Baptist Church building fund, 300 South Market St., Lancaster, SC 29720.

James Adams

LANCASTER - Mr. James Edward Adams of 9460 Van Wyck Road died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Gold Hill AME Zion Church, with the Rev. Deborah Waddell officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A Lancaster native, Mr. Adams attended the Gold Hill AME Zion Church School in Lancaster. He was a member of the trustee board and the choir. He was an Army veteran and served in World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Mae Lewis Adams of the home; his son, Harvey L. Adams of Charlotte; five daughters, Mae Adams Lowry of Fort Mill, Janet Adams and Lillian Adams, both of the home, and Gwendolyn Adams McIntyre and Patricia Adams Taylor, both of Lancaster; five sisters, Beatrice Davis, Ada Reid and Eunice Williams, all of Charlotte, and Wilma Adams and Calvert Barber, both of Lancaster; seven grandchildren; and his great-grandson.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Gold Hill AME Zion Church.

The body will be placed in the church at noon Friday.

Robinson Funeral Home is in charge.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Lawrence Barber of 1780 Oak Pond Road died Monday, April 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.
