Arthur House
ROCK HILL - Mr. Arthur House of 504 Hampton St. died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Robinson Funeral Home.

Louise Mackey
KERSHAW - Mrs. Louise Gaskins Mackey, 75, of 3120 Fork Hill Road died Thursday, Feb. 5, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Center Grove Baptist Church, with the Revs. Charley Simmons and Gary Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Center Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
Born in Kershaw, Mrs. Mackey was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Springs Industries.
Surviving are her husband, Walter Mackey Sr.; three sons, Bobby G. Mackey and Max Mackey, both of Kershaw, and Wardell "Bo" Mackey of Gastonia, N.C.; her daughter, Carolyn Riggins of Kershaw; two sisters, Doris Hudson and Janie Montgomery, both of Lancaster; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

Beulah Patterson
YORK - Ms. Beulah Elizabeth Patterson, 83, of 3 Center St. died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Ebenezer Nursing Center in Rock Hill.
Surviving are her son, William Thomas Patterson of the home; and her sister, Maggie Thrasher of York.
Wright Funeral Home was in charge.

Rev. Weston Schools
YORK - The Rev. Weston Goulden Schools, 77, of 5 Blackburn St. died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ralph Carver officiating and the Revs. Ansell Center and Michael Faulkner assisting. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Born in Careth, Va., Mr. Schools attended North Greenville Junior College. He graduated from Fruitland Bible Institute and worked at five churches in South Carolina and one in North Carolina. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Nellie Grace Brimer Schools; his son, William Franklin Schools of York; three daughters, Joyce Schools Turner of Columbia, Judy Schools Lawson of Belmont, N.C., and April Schools Cochrane of Florence; two brothers, Calvin Schools of Port Royale, Va., and Leston Schools of Richmond, Va.; his sister, Lillian Schools of Tappahannock, Va.; and 10 grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at York Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to York County Hospice, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732 or to Hillcrest Baptist Church building fund, 2020 Hillcrest Road, York, SC 29745.

Delma Smith
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Delma Nix Smith, 65, of 3294 Timothy Drive died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. James Gable officiating. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.
Born in Murphy, N.C., Mrs. Smith was the retired owner of Better Maids of Rock Hill and was of the Baptist faith. She was the widow of Chester Haigler.
Surviving are two sons, Glen Chester Haigler and Charles Scott Haigler, both of the home; two daughters, Sandra Spearman of Rock Hill and Judy Church of the home; her twin brother, Elmer Nix of Winder, Ga.; two other brothers, Avery Nix of Murphy, N.C., and William Nix of Basstown, N.C.; her sister, Irene Kitchens of Hayesville, N.C.; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Thomas Smith Sr.
ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas J. "T.J." Smith Sr., 67, of 640 Simpson St. died Saturday, Jan. 31, 1998, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Rock Grove AME Zion Church, with the Revs. R.V. Washington, Ronald King, B.R. Wilson and John Brown officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mr. Smith attended York County public schools. He was formerly employed by the city of Rock Hill and attended Rock Grove AME Zion Church.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas James Smith Jr. of Rock Hill and Aaron Smith of Columbia; his daughter, Patricia A. Smith of Rock Hill; three brothers, Elliott Smith, Allen Crosby and Samuel Crosby, all of Rock Hill; eight sisters, Mildred Adams, Lena Porter, Janita Barnette, Louise B. Hope, Shirley Dickson and Katherine Chisholm, all of Rock Hill, Alberta Crosby of Rockville Center, N.Y., and Emma Crosby of Hempstead, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Thomas James Jr., 504 N. Confederate St. and at other times at 640 Simpson St.
The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home.
The body will be placed in the church at noon Saturday.

Mary Wade
FORT LAWN - Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Wade, 80, of 5630 Elm Ave. died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mahaffey Funeral Home, with the Rev. Pam Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
Born in Chester County, Mrs. Wade was a graduate of Winthrop College. She was a retired school teacher who worked in Lancaster and York county schools, and was a journalist for The Columbia Record and the Atlanta Tribune. She was a former mayor of Fort Lawn, was a regient of the Waxhaw chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was active in the Fort Lawn United Methodist Church. She was the widow of James Paul Wade Sr.
Surviving are her daughter, Rosemary Wade Wilson of Fort Worth, Texas; and her nephew, Charles Clifton Ferguson of Fort Lawn.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Martha Wix
GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Martha Wix, 83, of 214 Chester Ave. died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 1998, at Providence Hospital in Columbia.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greenlawn Cemetery, with the Rev. Clarence Fouse and Pastor James Oxidine officiating.
Born in Chester, Mrs. Wix was a sales clerk at Eagles Dime Store for 17 years. She was a member of Great Falls Presbyterian Church and attended Chester schools.
Surviving are her husband, Lewis N. Wix; her brother, Sam Spence of Augusta, Ga.; and three sisters, Ann Ames and Virginia Denruyter, both of Chester, and Kathleen Chase of Detroit.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Doris Childers
ROCK HILL - Mrs. Doris Brooks Childers, 62, of 707 Patriot Parkway, Apt. 403, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998 at her home.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Patricia Griffith-Fallaw officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Cemetery.
A Rock Hill native, Mrs. Childers was a retiree of Defenders Resort, Heritage USA, Defenders Industries and Rosewood Elementary School. She was a homemaker and a member of West End Baptist Church. She was the widow of Leroy Childers.
Surviving are three sons, Tony Childers and Michael Childers, both of Lake Wylie, and Lane Childers of Rock Hill; two daughters, Kimberly C. Barfield and Sandra Johnson, both of Rock Hill; her stepson, Don L. Childers of Charlotte; her stepdaughter, Deannie C. Carter of York; a number of brothers and sisters; and nine grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Doris Childers Memorial Fund, PO Box 11549, Rock Hill, SC 29731 or to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Margaret Clinton
CLOVER - Mrs. Margaret Mae Hall Clinton, 80, of 2121 S.C. 55E. died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Bethel Presbyterian Church, with the Revs. John Gess and Richard Swartz officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
A York County native, Mrs. Clinton was retired from the York County Sheriff's Department. She was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Howard "Boot" Leslie Clinton of Clover; two sons, Howard Leslie Clinton Jr. of Hendersonville, N.C., and John Campbell Clinton of Clover; her sister, Mary Campbell Hall of York; and five grandchildren.
M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home is in charge.
