Ronald Knight

LANCASTER - Mr. Ronald Boyd "Gord" Knight, 48, of 208 Wylie Park Road died Monday, April 20, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Curtis Cameron officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

A native of York, Mr. Knight was a foreman for AME Industrial Construction.

Surviving are his wife, Jackie C. Knight; his son, Ben Knight of Great Falls; his stepson, Kevin Rollings of Lancaster; his daughter, Angie Knight of Great Falls; his mother, Mildred "Dean" Kirkley of Lancaster; three brothers, Jimmy Knight of Rock Hill, and Donnie Kirkley and Kenny Kirkley, both of Lancaster; his sister, Darlene Helms of Lancaster; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jonnie and Mildred Kirkley, 146 Evergreen Road, Lancaster.

Mamie Lynch

LAURENS - Mrs. Mamie Beasley Lynch of 340 Church St. died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at C.D. Beasley Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Delpherd Barksdale officiating. Burial will be at Jersey Cemetery.

Mrs. Lynch was a member of Evening Light Church of God. She attended Benedict College and was a retired child-care center director.

Surviving are her husband, Ernest Lynch; four sons, Darrole Lynch of West Covina, Calif., Gilbert Lynch of Greenville, and Keith Lynch and Frederick Lynch, both of Los Angeles; her daughter, Linda L. Jefferson of Rialto, Calif.; four brothers, Jonathan Beasley of St. Helena, Garfield Beasley and Kenneth Beasley, both of Laurens, and Marion Beasley of Fountain Inn; three sisters, Mildred B. Young of Rock Hill, Marjorie B. Johnson of Simpsonville and Kathryn B. Barskdale of Laurens; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Beasley Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Kathryn B. Barskdale, Hooker Avenue, Laurens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Evening Light Church of God building fund, P.O. Box 1278, Laurens, SC 29360.

Evelyn McKee

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Evelyn Culp Skidmore McKee, 85, of Rock Hill died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Meadow Haven Rehabilitation and Specialty Care Center.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rock Hill Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Dalson Erickson officiating.

Mrs. McKee was of the Pentecostal faith. A homemaker, she was the widow of Howell Skidmore.

Surviving are her son, Bobby Skidmore of Rock Hill; her daughter, Linda Grantham of Rock Hill; her brother, Manning Culp of Dallas, N.C.; her sister, Virginia Noyer of Dallas, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Linda Grantham, 3140 Carrie Estate, Rock Hill.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge.

Elmina Stewart

YORK - Mrs. Elmina "Sis" Deal Stewart, 75, of 222 California St., formerly of Clover, died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Harry Bryant officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Stewart was a member of Clover ARP Church and the widow of Roy Lacey Stewart.

Surviving are three sons, Donald Lee Moses of Belmont, N.C., and Charles Moses and Tommy Moses, both of Clover; her daughter, Ruth Teague of Middletown, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Lucille Byrd

CHESTER - Mrs. Lucille Ernandez Byrd, 77, formerly of Chester, died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Jacksonville, Fla.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Barron Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Lando Cemetery.

A native of Chester County, Mrs. Byrd was the widow of Olen N. Byrd. She was a member of Heath Memorial United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas L. Byrd of Chester and Wayne Byrd of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Julane Brandon and Donna Surrency, both of Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother, James Ernandez of Perry, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Westside Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1046, Chester SC 29706.

John Copeland Sr.

LANCASTER - Mr. John Lee Copeland Sr., 40, of 3416 Crown Road died Tuesday, April 21, 1998.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cauthen Funeral Home in Kershaw, with the Rev. Buford Hayes officiating. Burial will be at Blackmon Cemetery.

Mr. Copeland was a member of the Charlesboro Baptist Church. He was a self-employed chainsaw operator.

Surviving are his son, John Lee Copeland Jr. of Jefferson; his daughter, Tabitha Gail Copeland of Jefferson; his parents, Carlton E. and Beverly Jean Copeland, both of Lancaster; and his sister, Darlene Vaughn of Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home.

Dexter Evans

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. Dexter Lewis Evans, 28, formerly of Rock Hill, who died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in Arlington, Texas, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ronnie Baxter officiating and the Revs. Gerald Searles, Gary Knox and John Simpson assisting.

Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Evans was a native of York County. He was a member of Union Baptist Church and a graduate of Northwestern High School. He was an Air Force veteran and a mechanic for American Airlines.

Surviving are his mother, Lillian K. Evans of Rock Hill and his father, Clinzo Archie of Rock Hill; two brothers, John W. Evans of Rock Hill and Winfred A. Evans of Charlotte; four sisters, Robin Knox Barnette, Andrea Knox, Evette Evans and Valerie Evans Harrison, all of Rock Hill; and his maternal grandfather, Robert L. Knox Sr. of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at 344 Friedheim Road in Rock Hill.

The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
