Joseph Hagins

LANCASTER - Mr. Joseph Jesse Hagins, 86, of 238 Community Lane died Monday, April 20, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. today at St. Luke United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray Smith and Brooks Walker officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Hagins was a member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was retired from Springs Foundry and Machine Shop. A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of Stafford Graham American Legion Post No. 31.

Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Marshall Hagins; his son, J. Lawrence Hagins of Lancaster; two daughters, JoAnn Crenshaw of Camden and Linda Hammond of Lancaster; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 128 Providence Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Nathaniel Ingram

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mr. Nathaniel Ingram, 70, of 1422 Edgewood Drive, who died Monday, April 20, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Trinity Baptist Church, with the Rev. C.S. Sanders officiating.

Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Ingram was born in Charlotte and raised in Rock Hill. He attended York County public schools. He joined Mount Zion AME Zion Church at an early age.

Surviving are his wife, Cammie L. Ingram; two sons, James O. Ingram and Nathan F. Ingram, both of Rock Hill; six daughters, Annie Ingram Neely, Betty J. Gordon, Dorothy M. Ingram, Cynthia R. Moore, Yvonne Ingram and Angelia D. Adams, all of Rock Hill; his mother, Annie B. Ingram of Freeport, N.Y.; two brothers, Joe L. Ingram of Rock Hill and Herbert Ingram Jr. of Charlotte; three sisters, Dorothy Moore of Rock Hill, Iola Vaughn and Martha Washington, both of the Freeport, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 1 to 6 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at other times at 1439 Edgewood Drive and 1404 Edgewood Drive.

Charlie Kirkpatrick

FORT MILL - The funeral for Mr. Charlie Kirkpatrick of 113 Joe Louis St., who died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at United AME Zion Church.

The Rev. T.R. McBeth, the church's pastor, will officiate, and the Revs. Ray Thompson and Mildred Patton will assist. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Kirkpatrick was a native of York County and a retired textile employee. He attended George Fish High School and Friendship Junior College. He was a member of United AME Zion Church and a former trustee. He was an Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Julia M. Kirkpatrick; his son, Anthony Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill; his daughter, Angelique Murphy Newton of Charlotte; three brothers, W.A. Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill, James Willie Kirkpatrick of Fort Mill and Clayton Kirkpatrick of Charlotte; three grandchildren; and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 7:30 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Lucille Kogut

LANCASTER - Mrs. Lucille Elizabeth Guswiler Kogut, 87, of 1149 Canterbury Drive died Sunday, April 12, 1998, at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be in Chicago. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie, Ill.

A native of Chicago, Mrs. Kogut was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Saint Catherine Catholic Church. She was the widow of Stanley Kogut.

Hartley Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Debra Simpson

LANCASTER - The funeral for Miss Debra Ann Simpson, 31, of 1672 Kim St., who died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at her home, will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Moriah AME Zion Church in Richburg, with the Rev. Grady Sharp officiating.

Burial will be at the church cemetery

Miss Simpson was born in Chester County. She was a former textile worker, attended Chester County public schools and graduated from Lancaster High School.

Surviving are her son, Alex Deon Ealy of the home; her daughter, LaToya Marie Simpson of the home; 10 brothers, Tommy Terry of Richburg, Charles Simpson, Randy Simpson, James Simpson, Mike Simpson, Horace Simpson, Scottie Simpson, and Terry Simpson, all of Lancaster, Anthony Simpson of Chester and Kelvin Simpson of Seattle; and four sisters, Wanda Barber, Camilla Simpson and Barbara Simpson, all of Lancaster, and Mary Alice Simpson of Philadelphia.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from noon to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Friday.

James Smothers

FORT MILL - Mr. James H. Smothers, 86, of 454 Fort Mill Highway died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, at Magnolia Manor.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home. Burial will be at Long Branch Baptist Church cemetery in Jefferson.

Mr. Smothers was a retired farmer and the widower of Lillie Mae DeLay Smothers.

Surviving are three sons, J.C. Smothers of Rock Hill, Bobby Smothers of Edgemoor and Samuel E. Smothers of Fort Mill; two daughters, Martha Brown and Ella Mae S. Human, both of Rock Hill; his stepson, Frank DeLay of Fort Mill; four brothers, George Smothers of Marshville, N.C., William Smothers and Roy Smothers, both of Kannapolis, N.C., and Johnny Ray Smothers of Indian Trail, N.C.; two sisters, Myrtis McCray of Kannapolis, N.C., and Elma Winburn of Chesterfield; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home and at other times at the home of J.C. Smothers, 496 Lovelace Road, Rock Hill.

Patricia Estes

BLUFFTON - The funeral service for Mrs. Patricia Burke Estes, 70, of 235 Palmetto Bluff Road, formerly of Rock Hill, who died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at her home, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Frank Griffith and Mike Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Burke was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member. She worked with the Greenwood County government for 25 years, serving as clerk of court for six years.

Surviving are her mother, Minnie Lee Swift Burke of McAllen, Texas; her son, Billy Edward "Eddie" Estes Jr. of Bluffton; her sister, Lucille Wagner of McAllen, Texas.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to New United Methodist Church of Okatie, P.O. Box 1685, Bluffton, SC 29910.
