Robert Lee Potts

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Lee Potts, 63, of 537 Green Street, died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Jerusalem Baptist Church, Fort Mill, with the Rev. Mildred Patton officiating. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery, Fort Mill.

Mr. Potts was retired from Randolph Yarns and was a longtime employee of Springs Industries. He attended George Fish School in Fort Mill and was a longtime member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Geraldine W. Potts of Fort Mill; two daughters, Teresa Potts-Jones and Octavia Yvette Potts, both of Fort Mill; three brothers, G.J. Vooz Potts of Rock Hill, J.J. Williams and Robert Phillip Potts, both of Brooklyn, N.Y.; four sisters, Margaret Davis of Newark, N.J., Margot Pierce of Brooklyn, N.Y., Marita McCullough and Patricia Sitgraves, both of Rock Hill; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and his special friend, Betty Johnson of the home.

The family will receive friends at the home and at 207 Steele St., Fort Mill.

The body may be viewed from 2 to 7 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Parker Funeral Home, Rock Hill.

Charles Walker

CHESTER - The funeral for Charles Walker, 45, of 129 Walnut St., who died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at his home will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Black Rock Baptist Church, with the Rev. James Wilson officiating and the Revs. Moses Lightner and Robert Stinson assisting. The Rev. W.H. Woods Jr. will give the eulogy. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mr. Walker was a member of Black Rock Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Chester County and was an Army veteran.

Surviving are his son, Christopher Hemphill of Chester; four daughters, Tonja (CQ)Walker of Columbia, Faith Walker of Salisbury, N.C., Cheryl Randall of Tifton, Ga., and Ursula Hinton of Fort Mill; his mother, Janie Walker Royal and stepfather, the Rev. Oliver Royal of Chester; two brothers, Melvin Cherry of Chester and Keith Johnson of Charlotte; four sisters, Elouise McCree and Yvonne Hooper, both of Chester, and Brenda Polk and Linda Sellers, both of Charlotte; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home of Chris Hemphill, 1472 Old Richburg Road, Chester, and the home of the Rev. and Mrs. Oliver Royal, 1606 Lancaster Highway, Chester.

The body will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

The body may be viewed form noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home.

Michael Burns

CONOVER, N.C. - Mr. Michael Earl Burns, 28, of 1157 Opal Creek Drive died Thursday, April 23, 1998 in Richburg.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Catawba Funeral Home of Hickory, N.C.

A native of Catawba County, N.C., Mr. Burns attended Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Michelle Wagoner Burns; his parents, Earl and Nancy Burns of Hickory, N.C.; two brothers, Christopher Burns of Madison, Ala., and the Rev. Edward Burns of Hickory, N.C.; his sister, Joanne B. Abee of Valdese, N.C.; and his paternal grandmother, Mae S. Burns of Hickory, N.C., formerly of York.

Lee Chisholm

PORTSMOUTH, Va. - Lee David Chisholm, 64, formerly of Chester County, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998.

The funeral service will be noon today at Greater Mount Zion Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Chisholm; seven sisters, Pearl Stringfellow of Pittsburgh, Pa., Pauline Scott, Mildred Moffat and Ada Young, all of Virginia, and Annie Mae Young, Ella Caldwell and Teresa Caldwell, all of Rock Hill; and four brothers, Nathaniel Caldwell, Alfonsoe(CQ) Caldwell, John Charles Chisholm and Elliot Chisholm, all of Virginia.

Fred Couick

ROCK HILL - Mr. Fred Ezelle Couick, 87, of 648 Walnut St., died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Grandview Memorial Park, with the Rev. Douglas O. Jones officiating.

A native of Waxhaw, N.C., Mr. Couick was a charter member of Rogers Memorial A.R.P. Church. He retired from Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co. after 40 years service.

Surviving are his wife, Estelle Jacobs Couick; two sons, Jerry W. Couick and Arnold K. Couick, both of Rock Hill; his brother, Jesse Couick of Waxhaw; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Rogers Memorial ARP Church, 1820 Eden Terrace, Rock Hill, S.C. 29730.

George Crow Jr.

ROSMAN, N.C. - Mr. George Davis Crow Jr., 88, of Rosman died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at his home,

A graveside service will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Gillespie-Evergreen Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Lewis Earl Jackson Post 4309 and American Legion Monroe Wilson Post 88. A memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Rhett Sanders officiating.

A native of Texas, Mr. Crow received degrees from Columbia University and Texas University. He was a professor of Spanish and French at Texas, New Mexico State and Texas Christian universities. He was chairman of the foreign language departments at Winthrop College in Rock Hill and Francis Marion College in Florence. He was adjunct professor of Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Asheville and Brevard College.

Mr. Crow served the Department of the Army with refugee relief in Stuttgart, Germany and was director of a binational center in Bogota, Colombia. He was a retired Army colonel and served in World War II in the Pacific. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Retired Officers' Association, Rotary International and the Chi Phi Fraternity. He was chairman of the building committee at Trinity Bible Church in Rock Hill, elder at Community Bible Fellowship of Florence and elder of Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church in Brevard, N.C.

Surviving are his wife, Eloise Burtis Crow; four sons, Jonathan Samuel Crow of Brevard, Paul Gillespie Crow of Eugene, Ore., and the Rev. George D. Crow III and Edwin Burtis Crow, both of Columbia; his daughter, Julia Longenecker of McAllen, Texas; his brother, John A. Crow of Los Angeles; his sister, Lois Sheffield of Austin, Texas; and 16 grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the memorial service.

Patricia Estes

BLUFFTON - The funeral service for Mrs. Patricia Burke Estes, 70, of 235 Palmetto Bluff Road, formerly of Rock Hill, who died Wednesday, April 22, 1998, at her home, will be 2 p.m. today at Adnah United Methodist Church, with the Revs. Frank Griffith and Mike Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Estes was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member. She worked with the Greenwood County government for 25 years, serving as clerk of court for six years.

Surviving are her mother, Minnie Lee Swift Burke of McAllen, Texas; her son, Billy Edward "Eddie" Estes Jr. of Bluffton; and her sister, Lucille Wagner of McAllen, Texas.

Memorials may be made to New United Methodist Church of Okatie, P.O. Box 1685, Bluffton, SC 29910.
