Edith White

GASTONIA, N.C. - Edith Inez Payne White, 82, formerly of 1801 Wilkinson Blvd. died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Grayland Croft Nursing Center.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Long Creek Presbyterian Church in Bessemer City, N.C., with the Rev. Benjamin Williams officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Kings Mountain, N.C., Mrs. White was a homemaker and a special child care attendant, who cared for more than 150 children from the 1960s to the 1980s. She was a lifelong member of Long Creek Presbyterian Church. She was the widow of Millard Cape White.

Surviving are her son, Jerry G. White of Bessemer City, N.C.; three daughters, Sue Harding and Judy Dean, both of Gastonia, and Jane Deaver of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Long Creek Presbyterian Church, 701 Long Creek Road, Bessemer City, NC 28016.

Annie Johnson

CLOVER - Mrs. Annie Lee Stanton Johnson, 90, of 3364 Lincoln Road died Friday, April 24, 1998, at her home.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Inman officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of York County, Mrs. Johnson was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.

She was the widow of Horace Carl Johnson.

Surviving are four sons, Kenneth Johnson, Gene Johnson, Joe Johnson, and Max Johnson, all of Clover; three daughters, Kay Vrooman of Jacksonville, Fla., and Patsy Burrell and Nell Moses, both of Clover; two brothers, David Stanton and Frank Stanton, both of Clover; four sisters, Mae Goley of North Augusta, Louise Adams of Gastonia, N.C., and Martha Nell Wallace and Elizabeth Killian, both of Clover; 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home.

Helen Marsh

YORK - Helen Burrows Marsh, 78, of White Oak Manor died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland Cemetery, with Father Donald Lowery officiating.

A native of Cullman, Ala., Mrs. Marsh was a homemaker and a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Columbia.

She was the widow of Billy Grey Marsh.

Surviving are her son, Billy G. Marsh Jr. of Phenix City, Ala.; her daughter, Meredith Marsh Gibson of York; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Jefferson Street Adult Day Care Center, 210 E. Jefferson St., York, SC 29745 or Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, Box 437, York, SC 29745.

A.C. Robinson

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Mr. A.C. "Arthur" Robinson of Greensboro, formerly of Rock Hill, died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. today at New Light Baptist Church. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

A native of Rock Hill, Robinson attended Rock Hill schools and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Robinson; four daughters, Sandra E. Minor of Greensboro, Margaret R. Robinson of Walnut Creek, Calif., Charlene A. Robinson of Indianapolis, and Rosalind R. Atkins of Columbia; his bother, Samuel Robinson of Rock Hill; two sisters, Susan Tindall of Rock Hill and Lillie Jones of Chesapeake, Va.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1 p.m. today at New Light Baptist Church.

John Small

LANCASTER - Mr. John Thomas "Tommy" Small, 64, of 1075 10th St. died Thursday, April 23, 1998 at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral service will be 2 p.m. today at Cauthen Funeral Home, with the Revs. Ansel Smith and Charles Hendricks officiating. Burial will be in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mr. Small was retired from Springs Industries.

Surviving are his wife, Nannette Pledger Small; his stepson, Mike A. Dunn of Charlotte, four brothers, Ansel Small of Fort Lawn, David Small of Chester, Charles Small of Hartsville and Loyd Small of Lancaster; four sisters, Anne Woodle of Chester, Gladys Pierce of Catawba, Von Blackmon of Pageland and Alma Hurst of Rock Hill; and his stepgrandchild.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Martha Ward

DURHAM, N.C. - Martha Ellen Burris Ward, 52, of 111 Weaver St., formerly of Chester, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Markham Chapel Baptist Church, with the Rev. W. M. Brown officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ward was a former member of Brown's Chapel AME Zion Church in Chester.

Surviving are two daughters, Robin Keith and Sharon Richardson, both of Durham, N.C.; three brothers, Samuel Burris of Chester, James Burris of Durham, N.C., and Willie Lyons of Los Angeles; three sisters, Carolyn Apple and Pamela Richardson, both of Durham, N.C., and Gloria Moore of Atlanta.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Kenneth Wright

LANCASTER - Mr. Kenneth Russell Wright, 73 of 6737 Shiloh Unity Road, Tradesville Community, died Friday, April 24, 1998 at Springs Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Spring Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Greg Towler officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

A native of Lancaster County, Mr. Wright was retired from Springs Industries and was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Watts Wright; two sons, Brady Lane Wright of Lancaster and Teddy Wright of Hickory, N.C.; his daughter, Kathy Walters of Lancaster; five stepdaughters, Mary Mosley and Velma Sue Faulkenberry, both of Kershaw, Dianne Newman of Heath Springs, Kathy Holden of Lancaster and Virginia Kee of Monroe, N.C.; three stepsons, Roger Wayne Faile of Heath Springs, Randell Lee Faile of Kershaw and William Edward Faile of Lancaster; three sisters, Vessie Morton of Monroe, N.C., Nancy Morton of Pageland and Mary Knight of Lancaster; 28 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.
