Nathaniel Smith

CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Nathaniel "Hambone" Smith, 53, of 2040 How to Find Road, who died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia, will be 3 p.m. Monday at the chapel of King's Funeral Home.

The Rev. Moses Lightner is officiating. Burial will be at Sweet Hope Baptist Church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mr. Smith was a member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church. He was a former textile employee and carpenter's assistant.

Surviving are his wife, Lisa Smith; two daughters, Lena Mae Smith of Gastonia, N.C., and Diane Smith of the home; his son, Mickey Smith of the home; his mother, Mae Alice Smith of Ridgeway; his sister, Mary Elizabeth Feaster of Carlisle; five brothers, J.T. Smith of Chester, David Smith of Carlisle, and Howard Smith, Willie Smith Jr., and Frank Smith, all of Charlotte; and two grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

The body may be viewed from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

William Smith Jr.

PHILADELPHIA - Mr. William Smith Jr., 65, of 5042 Locust St. died Monday, April 13, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church in Kelton, with the Rev. George Sims officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Smith was a native of Union, S.C., and a retired self-employed auto mechanic.

Surviving are his five sons, Ethan June Smith, Perry Smith and Allen Smith, all of Kannapolis, N.C., James Smith and William Smith, both of Union; six daughters, Floree Smith, Barbara J. Smith, Elizabetha Farr, Margie S. Littlejohn and Terry Smith, all of Union, and Diana S. Thomas of Rock Hill; five brothers, Wallace Smith of Winston-Salem, N.C., Andrew Smith of China Grove, N.C., John Earl Smith, Robert Lee Smith, and Roosevelt Smith, all of Jonesville; and his sister, Myrtle Smith Jones of Camden.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Union Community Funeral Home.

Margaret Deas

FORT MILL - Mrs. Margaret D. Deas, 81, of 210 Park Drive died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. M.H. Hilton Jr. officiating. Burial will be at Unity Cemetery.

A native of Fairfield County, Mrs. Deas was a member of First Baptist Church in Fort Mill. She was the widow of Wesley Albert Deas.

Surviving are two sons, Wesley Albert Deas Jr. of Rock Hill and William F. Deas Sr. of Fort Mill; three daughters, Marcia Polk, Janice Brown and Elaine Williams, all of Rock Hill; two sisters, Edna Walker and Frances King, both of Fort Mill; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Whitesell-Wolfe Funeral Home and other times at the home, 210 Park Drive, Fort Mill.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, 212 Monroe White St., Fort Mill, SC 29715.

Mary Hinson

LANCASTER - Mrs. Mary Alice Harris Hinson, 75, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Union Regional Medical Center in Monroe, N.C.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Mahaffey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Dale Roach officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hinson was a retired employee of Springs Industries' Grace Finishing plant and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Bruce Blackmon Hinson.

Surviving are four sons, Charles Hinson of Winder, Ga., James Hinson, Melvin Hinson and Hurley Hinson, all of Lancaster; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

James Pearson

ROCK HILL - Mr. James "Buddy" Matthew Pearson, of 419 Baker St. died Thursday, April 16, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel of Remembrance, with the Rev. Victor Wilson officiating and the Rev. Ronal King assisting. Burial will be at Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Pearson was a native of Chester County and attended the public schools of York County. He joined Nazareth Baptist Church at an early age.

Surviving are his daughter, Audrey Dunlap of Rock Hill; his brother, Willie Pearson of Rock Hill; and two sisters, Clara Pettus of Fort Mill and Estelle Robinson of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends at 914 Martin St. and at 900 Ogden Road.

Dillie Williams

GREAT FALLS - Mrs. Dillie Bailey Williams, 97, formerly of Underwood Avenue, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Bethea Baptist Health Care Center in Darlington.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home, with the Revs. Doug Irvin and H.S. Yarborough Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a longtime member of Great Falls First Baptist Church. She attended Lancaster County schools.

Surviving are her son, Alvin Williams of Charleston; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at Dantzler-Baker Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Bethea Baptist Community & Health Care Center, 157 Home Ave., Darlington, SC 29540.

Ethel Wylie

EDISTO BEACH - Mrs. Ethel "Tag" Sprott Wylie, 74, of Edisto Beach, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Trident Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday at the Edisto Island United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brett Waller officiating.

A native of Walterboro, Mrs. Wylie was a founding member of Edisto Island United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Kings Daughters and attended Columbia College.

Surviving are her husband, Oscar Wilson Wylie; three sons, Samuel Wylie of Waycross, Ga., Jim Wylie of Charleston and Pat Wylie of Summerville; her daughter, Susan Ladd of Niceville, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Edisto Island United Methodist Church.

Fred Parker Funeral Home of Walterboro is in charge of arrangements.
