Johnny Feaster

CHESTER - The funeral for Mr. Johnny Feaster, 60, of 212 Stinkulter St. who died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Sandy River Baptist Church.

The Rev. Keith Taylor will officiate. Burial will be at Williamsville AME Zion Church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mr. Feaster was an employee of the city of Chester. He was a member of Sandy River Baptist Church and attended Chester County schools.

Surviving are his wife, Mary E. Feaster; three sons, Curtis Feaster of Richburg, Johnny K. Feaster and David Feaster, both of Chester; five daughters, Catherine Hall, Jeanette Brown, Mary Feaster, Deborah Feaster, and Yvonne Mills, all of Chester, and Susan Wells of Charleston; his stepdaughter, Diane Chester of East Orange, N.J.; his brother, Frank Feaster of Charlotte; four sisters, Fannie Mae Ladson, Hattie Sanders, Marian Richmond and Azalee Nichols, all of Chester; 24 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Denton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Laura Mae Glenn

Mrs. Laura Mae Ayers Glenn, 78, of 839 McArthur St. died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at her daughter's home.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at College Park Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Broughton officiating and Maj. Robert Butler and the Rev. James Sanders assisting. Burial will be at Laurelwood Cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mrs. Ayers was retired from Campbell's Laundry. She was a member of College Park Baptist Church and its Joy Group, as well as the Ladies Home League of the Salvation Army.

Surviving are two sons, Murray Glenn Jr. and James David Glenn, both of Rock Hill; two daughters, Phyllis Ayers and Nancy Demby, both of Rock Hill; two sisters, Rosa Lee Roberts and Juanita Wolfe, both of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Murray Glenn, 1012 Magnolia Drive.

Cauthen Funeral Home is in charge.

LaVerne Knox

CHESTER - The funeral for Mrs. LaVerne McNinch Knox, 72, of 107 Colonial Drive, who died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, will be 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.

Dr. Clyde Mitchum, Dr. Dwight Pearson and the Rev. Jimmy Lowe will officiate. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Knox was a retired secretary for Springs Industries. She was a member of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are her husband, Carlisle Knox; her daughter, Karen Vess Graham of Chester; three brothers, J. Roy McNinch of Charlotte and T.C. McNinch and Ralph NcNinch, both of Chester; and two sisters, Ruth Wrenn and Jean Richardson of Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church building fund, 1660 Pleasant Grove Road, Chester, SC 29706.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Barron Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Robert Potts

ROCK HILL - Mr. Robert Potts, 62, of 537 Green St. died Sunday, April 19, 1998, at his home.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Parker Funeral Home.

James Pratt

CHARLOTTE - Mr. James F. Pratt, 37, of 1255 S. Caldwell St., Apt. 100, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be in Camden, N.J.

Mr. Pratt was a native of Camden and was a butcher.

Surviving are four children, Dewana Pratt, Jamal Pratt, Darnell Pratt and Breheem Pratt, all of Syracuse, N.Y.; his parents, Bobby and Betty Duncan of Charlotte; his brother, Alfonzo Duncan of Charlotte; and two sisters, Renea Pratt and Debra Pratt, both of Charlotte.

McCray Funeral Home of Lancaster is in charge.

William Whisonant

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Harold "Bill" Whisonant, 75, of 1088 S. Anderson Road, died Saturday, April 18, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Catawba Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tommy Huddleston officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jerry Devinney. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Rock Hill, Mr. Whisonant was a World War II veteran who served with the Marine Corps on the battleship New Jersey. He was retired from Rock Hill Printing and Finishing. Co.

He was a member of Catawba Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served as an usher for 14 years. He was a former deacon at Eastside and West End Baptist churches.

Surviving are his wife, Louise Horton Whisonant of Meadow Haven Specialty Care and Rehabilitation Center; his son, Randy Whisonant of Rock Hill; two brothers, Garland Jones and Ervin Whisonant, both of Rock Hill; four sisters, Dollie Mangrum, Mary Ward, Frances Branham and Jeanette Hawkins, all of Rock Hill; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home of his son at 1421 Yorkdale Road, Rock Hill.

Memorials may be made to Annie Armstrong Easter Fund, c/o Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill SC 29730.

Irma Witherspoon

CHARLOTTE - Mrs. Irma McCain Witherspoon, 86, died Friday, April 17, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Calvary Outreach Church in Kershaw, with Evangelist Eugene Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Highland Heights Cemetery.

A native of Kershaw, Mrs. Witherspoon moved to Charlotte in 1987 and was active in the Swinging Seniors bowling league. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and later joined Mount Calvary Outreach Church, where she was mother and president of the missionary department. She was the widow of Andrew Witherspoon.

Surviving are her son, William Witherspoon of Charlotte; seven daughters, Martha A. Green, Joyce Redfern, and Beulah Witherspoon, all of Patterson, N.J., and Johnny Hinson, Lessie Teeter, Ester Gainey and Earma J. Seegars, all of Charlotte; two adopted sons, Hiawaitha Brice of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Darrell Witherspoon of Charlotte; two adopted daughters, Brender Witherspoon of Charlotte and Ruby J. Cauthen of Patterson, N.J.; 44 grandchildren; 83 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at noon Tuesday at Mount Calvary Outreach Church, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anthony, 5166 Pleasant Plain Road, Kershaw.
