Kathy Stroud

LANCASTER - Mrs. Kathy Sue Stroud, 44, of 2744 Pageland Highway died Saturday, May 23, 1998, at her home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Christian Assembly Church, with the Revs. Donald Tillman and Marvin Tennant officiating. Burial will be at Lancaster Memorial Park.

Mrs. Stroud was a Lancaster County native. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Robert C. "Bob" Stroud of Lancaster; her stepson, Brian C. Stroud of Germany; her stepdaughter, Angela S. Smith of Lancaster; her brother, Terry W. Adams of Lancaster; and her sister, Pat Plyler of Treadway, Tenn.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Eastside Baptist Church, 1180 Garnette Road, Lancaster, S.C., 29720, or to Christian Assembly Church, 1734 Bradburn Drive, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Henry Ferguson Jr.

LANCASTER - Mr. Henry Stokes Ferguson Jr., 75, of 2968 Old Hickory Road died Monday, May 25, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church. Burial will be at a later date.

Mr. Ferguson graduated in 1943 with a bachelor's degree from Presbyterian College. He earned his master's degree in education in 1954 from the University of Arizona and did post-graduate work at the University of Michigan. He taught for many years in Taylor, Mich. A World War II veteran, he served 5 1/2 years with the Army engineers and Air Corps in the Pacific. He was past state vice president of the Michigan Federation of Teachers Local 1085. He was past master of Golden Oak Lodge No. 595 in Allen Park, Mich.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ferguson; three sons, William Henry Ferguson and David McGill Ferguson, both of Lancaster, and Mark Platt of Donningtown, Pa.; two daughters, Alice Brosnan of Harrison Township, Mich., and Linda Haskins of Taylor, Mich.; his brother, Earl Ferguson of Charlotte; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Eugene Henderson

CHESTER - Mr. Eugene Henderson, 83, of 3514 Valley Drive, died Monday at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Baptist Church, with the Rev. Reggie Parker officiating and the Rev. Elton Hunter assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Born in Marshal, N.C., Mr. Henderson was retired from Springs Industries. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.

He was the widower of Ruth A. Henderson.

Surviving are two sons, Albert Henderson of Chester and Arthur Henderson of Lancaster; two daughters, Bobbie Williford of Chester and Syble Wilson of Winnsboro; two sisters, Mildred Cureton of Pelion and Grace Adams of Travelers Rest; 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Wright's Home for Funerals.

Robert Ingram

LANCASTER - Mr. Robert Lynn "Booty" Ingram, 46, of 239 South Ave., died Monday, May 25, 1998.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. today at New Life Freewill Baptist Church, with the Revs. Marty Cox and Mitch Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Lancaster Memorial Park.

Born in Lancaster County, Mr. Ingram was retired from Springs Industries' Riverlawn plant.

Surviving are his parents, William Robert Ingram Jr. and Izola Robertson Ingram of the home; his daughter, Melanie Harper of Lancaster; and his brother, the Rev. Mitch Ingram of Lancaster.

Memorials may be made to New Life Freewill Baptist Church, 1622 Springdale Road, Lancaster, SC 29720.

Franklin Marshall Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Franklin Dewey Marshall Jr., 75, of Rock Hill died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at his home.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Tim McClendon officiating.

Born in Camden, Mr. Marshall moved to Rock Hill in 1923. He was a graduate of Winthrop Training School and Davidson College. He served in the Army and was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church, where he served on the board, sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and was a lay leader.

He also was active in the Optimist Club and Toastmasters.

Mr. Marshall owned and operated Marshall Piano Co. for many years with his sons.

Surviving are his wife, Frances Locke Marshall; two sons, F. Dewey Marshall III and E. Wylie Marshall, both of Rock Hill; his daughter, Cammie Brazzell of Rock Hill; his stepson, Robert O. McFadden of Rock Hill; two brothers, Harold W. Marshall of Lancaster and Robert K. Marshall of Rock Hill; 11 grandchildren and his great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends after the service in the church's Family Life Center.

Memorials may be sent to St. John's United Methodist Church, 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or to charity of one's choice.

Pearline Smith

YORK - Miss Pearline D. Smith, 70, of 3 Church St. died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Thursday at New Home AME Zion Church, with the Rev. C.J. Jenkins officiating and the Rev. Darryl Jackson assisting. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Miss Smith attended public school in York. She joined Langrum Branch Baptist Church at an early age and later joined New Home AME Zion Church. She was a member of Missionary Society, the New Home Women's Club, the Willing Workers Club and the AP&B Society.

Surviving are three nephews, whom she reared, James "Boot" Smith and John Michael Smith, both of York, and Melvin Edward Smith of Rock Hill; and two nieces, whom she reared, Martha E. Smith and Catherine L. Smith, both of York;

The family will receive friends at the home of James "Boot" Smith, 7 Moore St., York. Viewing will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Wright Funeral Home.

Thomas Ward Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Thomas William Ward Sr., 72, of 1647 Nottingham Court, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at his home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lakewood Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tim Tomlinson officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Park.

Born in Newberry, Mr. Ward retired from York County Natural Gas Authority after 30 years. He was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Ramah Livingston Ward; two sons, Thomas W. Ward Jr. of Villa Rica, Ga., and Robert Preston Ward of Hapeville, Ga.; his daughter, Linda Ward Crews of Rock Hill; his brother, Donald Ward of Winter Park, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home, Rock Hill Chapel, and other times at the home.
