Joseph Hart Jr.

YORK - Mr. Joseph Everett Hart Jr., 86, of 111 S. Congress St. died Monday, May 25, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. today at Rose Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Lowery officiating.

A native of York, Mr. Hart was a banker. He was a former member of York Rotary Club and ran the Christmas Tree Club for the children of York Place. He served in the Army Medical Corps and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.

Surviving is his sister, Anne Hart Little of Columbia.

The family will receive friends at the graveside after the service.

Memorials may be made to York Place, 234 Kings Mountain St., York, SC 29745.

John Connor

ROCK HILL - Mr. John F. Connor, 70, of 1896 Overbrook Drive died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Ray Morhmann officiating.

Mr. Connor was retired from York Technical College as vice president of business. He was a graduate of the University of Iowa. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Rotary Club and the York County Library Club. He was the widower of June Gustafson Connor and Olive Crystal Connor.

Surviving are eight children, Karen Lundquist of Toronto, Ohio, Mike Connor of West Columbia, Kristine Huggins of San Antonio, Texas, Leslie Lundquist of Boone, N.C., Colleen Helms of Durham, N.C., Tim Connor of West Columbia, Kathryn Lundquist of Chico, Calif., and Paula Nagle of Rock Hill; two brothers, Dr. William E. Connor of Portland, Ore., and James R. Connor of Whitewater, Wis.; his sister, Kathleen White of Prairie Village, Kan.; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at home.

Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29730 or the York Technical Foundation, 452 S. Anderson Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Ollie Fairfax

CHESTER - Mrs. Ollie Wallace Fairfax, 74, of 1277 Liberty Road died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Palmetto Richland Memorial Hospital in Columbia.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Saluda Street Church of God, with the Revs. Dennis Reid and Hubert Orvin officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. Fairfax was retired from Springs Industries with 39 years of service. She was a member of Saluda Street Church of God, where she worked with the Children's Church, Ladies Ministry and Bible School. She also served on the food committee. A native of Lancaster, she attended the Chester County schools.

Surviving are her husband, Gary B. Fairfax; her son, Daniel L. Kirkland Jr. of the home; her foster son, William T. Hinson of Newberry; her daughter, Barbara Fairfax Garrett of Spartanburg; her brother, Lewis H. Wallace of Chester; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Burris Little

HEATH SPRINGS - Mr. Burris Fenton Little, 73, of 1053 Flint Ridge Road died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at the VA Nursing Home in Columbia.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cauthen Funeral Home with the Rev. Warren Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery.

Mr. Little was a World War II veteran and a member of Heath Springs Baptist Church.

Surviving are his brother, Clifford "Junior" Little of Columbia; four sisters, Minnie E. Little of Fort Lawn, Ruby Pate and Kathryn Hilton, both of Lancaster, and Lillian Bowers of Heath Springs.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Lillian Bowers, 223 W. Hammond St., Heath Springs.

Mary Long

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Mary Dorothy Wood Long, 78, of 1944 Greenfield Drive died Saturday, May 3, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.

A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at St. John's United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Tim McClendon officiating.

Mrs. Long was the widow of William Ivey Long Jr. She earned her master's degree from Northwestern University and was a drama teacher at Rock Hill High School for 20 years. Mrs. Long was a producer for the South Carolina ETV network. She was an alumni of the University of North Carolina, and was a member of the Chi Omega Club, the South Carolina Parks and Recreation Association, Mrs. South Carolina Senior Association, Delta Kappa Gamma, Daughters of the American Revolution, the Outlook Club and St. John's United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Long played the role of Queen Elizabeth in "The Lost Colony, " the drama about North America's first English settlement, set on the water's edge in Manteo, N.C.

Surviving are two sons, William I. Long III of New York City and Robert Hamilton Long of Chapel Hill, N.C.; her daughter, Laura Ann Long of the home; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the church following the service.

Julie Mitchell

ROCK HILL - Miss Julie Ann Mitchell, 33, of 1445 Crawford Road died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Cross Road Baptist Church, with the Rev. J.E. Boulware officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Miss Mitchell was a homemaker and former patient sitter. She graduated from Rock Hill High School in 1983 and she was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Donques Graham and Anthony Graham, both of the home; three daughters, Victoria E. Mitchell, Molly Graham and Shamia Graham, all of the home; her parents, Hoppe and Channie Ellis of the home; two sisters, Selena A. Mitchell and Mary Glen, both of Rock Hill; six brothers, Hope Anjola Mitchell, George L. Mitchell, James Caldwell, Ivory Clark, Vincent Kennedy, and Sam Wilson, all of Rock Hill; a special friend, Michael Graham of Rock Hill; and her grandchild.

Viewing will be from noon to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Parker Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Sarah Pittman

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Sarah Tinkler Pittman, 75, of 4667 Harmony Church Road died Wednesday, May 27, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Harmony Baptist Church with the Rev. Kent Spann officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

A native of Belmont, N.C., Mrs. Pittman was a member of Harmony Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She sang in the choir and was a member of the Woman's Missionary Union. She was retired from the Medicare billing department of Piedmont Medical Center. She was the widow of William Earl Pittman.

Surviving are two sons, Andrew Pittman and Kenneth Pittman, both of Edgemoor; her daughter, Beverly Pleasant of Edgemoor; seven grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Bass Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Harmony Baptist Church renovation fund, 5403 Harmony Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
