Mabel Amaker

YORK - The funeral for Mrs. Mabel Ashley Amaker, 81, of 1533 Springlake Road, who died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Rehab in Gastonia, N.C., will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Clover First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Hutchison officiating.

Mrs. Amaker was the co-owner of York Tractor Co. She was an active member of Clover First United Methodist Church.

Surviving is her husband, Wesley Amaker.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 124 Bethel St., Clover, SC 29710.

Dora Brakefield

GREENVILLE - Mrs. Dora Windham Brakefield, 85, of Greenville, formerly of Rock Hill, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. today at Oakland Baptist Church in Rock Hill, with the Rev. Mike Feely officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church cemetery.

Mrs. Brakefield was the widow of Forest E. Windham and Morris Brakefield.

Surviving are two sons, Jackie E. Windham of Walterson and Bob Windham of Greenville; two stepsons, Steve Brakefield and Billy Brakefield; two stepdaughters, Mary Ann Hinson and Julie Templeton; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. today at Oakland Baptist Church.

Jeffers Mortuary in Greenville is in charge.

Annie Collins

CHARLOTTE - Ms. Annie Mae Collins, 68, of Charlotte, formerly of Kershaw, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Presbyterian Hospital.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandhill Baptist Church in Kershaw, with the Rev. Lonnie Patterson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Collins joined Belmont Baptist Church in Westville and later moved her membership to Sandhill Baptist Church.

Surviving are her daughter, Betty Ann Collins of Charlotte; three sisters, Rosie Buford of Buffalo, N.Y., the Rev. Marie McIlwain of Lancaster, and Edna M. Collins Drakford of Waxhaw, N.C.; two brothers, Lewis Collins and James Collins, both of Charlotte; her stepmother, Ada Collins of Waxhaw; her grandchild; and her great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Kirkland Funeral Home.

Betty Derr

BALTIMORE - Mrs. Betty Davis Derr, 72, of Baltimore, formerly of Blackstock, died Monday, June 1, 1998, at a Baltimore hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Betts Funeral Home, 1129 N. Caroline St. Burial will be at Baltimore Memorial Cemetery.

Mrs. Derr was born in Fairfield County. She was a member of Mount Tabor Presbyterian Church and attended Mount Zion Baptist Church in Blackstock. She attended Chester County public schools.

Surviving are her husband, Beuford Derr; two sons, Ivory Derr and Donald Derr, both of Baltimore; two daughters, Sheila Weavers and Joanne Waters, both of Baltimore; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Betts Funeral Home.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Avery Dover Sr.

YORK - Mr. Avery Dover Sr., 61, of 125 Daves Road died Monday, June 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Boe Huffstickler officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Dover was pastor of Highway Holiness Church of God in York.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Smith Dover; five sons, Lewis Dover and Joseph Dover, both of Clover, Carl Dover of California, and Charles Dover and Avery Dover Jr., both of York; four daughters, Ethel Whisnant of Shelby, N.C., Rachel Huffstetler and Christine Gibson, both of Clover, and Jennifer Dover of York; his brother, Charles Dover of Clover; two sisters, Nancy Chappel of Clover and Ruby Horton of Jacksonville, Fla.; his former wife, Ethel Bolin Dover of Clover; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Clover.

Mable Haas

LAKE WYLIE - Mrs. Mable Louise Haas of Lake Wylie died Monday, June 1, 1998, at the home of her son.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Haas was a native of Saltville, Va., and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are her husband, Dick Haas; her son, Vincent Maizy of Matthews; two brothers, Charles Ratcliff of Saltville, Va., and George Ratcliff of Marion, Va.; her sister, Hazel R. Wyatt of Seven Mile Ford, Va.; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.

Evie Jackson

DeFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. - Mrs. Evie N. Jackson, 62, formerly of Filbert, died Thursday, May 28, 1998, in Crestview, Fla.

The funeral was Saturday in Samson, Ala.

Surviving are her husband, Wiley Jackson; three sons, Jimmy Jackson of Orlando, Fla., Bobby Jackson of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Jackie Jackson of Catawba; and five brothers.

Pittman Funeral Home in Samson, Ala., was in charge.
