Lola Baxley

KERSHAW - Mrs. Lola Huntley Baxley, 98, of 751 Baxley Farm Road died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, in Monroe, N.C.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. today at Shiloh True Light Church cemetery, with Elder Rommie Purser officiating.

Mrs. Baxley was the widow of Daniel Edward Baxley. A homemaker, she was of the True Light faith.

Surviving are two sons, Daniel Carlyle Baxley of Camden and Olin Edward Baxley of Kershaw; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the church fellowship building following the service.

Memorial may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Roy Brooks Jr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Roy E. Brooks Jr., 50, of 4025 Overlook Road died Thursday, June 4, 1998.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Leonhardt officiating. Burial will be at Adnah United Methodist Church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Joan Brooks; his son, Ken Brookins of Rock Hill; three daughters, Noelle Brooks of Rock Hill; Lori Tatarka of Jamestown, N.C., Jennifer Bohannon of Hazelhurst, Ga.; his father, Roy E. Brooks Sr.; two brothers, David Brooks of Rock Hill and Arthur Brooks of Moncks Corner; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Maude Brown

CHESTER - Mrs. Maude McGowan Brown, 84, of 664 Still St. died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parkway Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Gaddy officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A native of Chester, Mrs. Brown was retired from Springs Industries. She was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. A graduate of Chester High School, she was the widow of Realis Eugene Brown.

Surviving are her son, R. Warren Brown of Laurens; two daughters, Cicely Brown of LeGrange, Ky., and Cindy Plyler of the home; her brother, J.C. McGowan of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Barron Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Parkway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1227, Chester, SC 29706.

Lillian Capers

SMYRNA - Mrs. Lillian Turner Shelborne Capers, 44, of 2515 Ebenezer Road died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Wright Funeral Home in York.

Mary Gaffney

CLOVER - Mrs. Mary Sue Carraway Gaffney, 81, formerly of Clover, died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at Spartanburg Regional Hospital.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at Clover ARP Church, with the Rev. Sterling Brackett officiating. Burial will be at Woodside Cemetery.

Mrs. Gaffney was a retired nursing assistant at Cherokee County Hospital in Gaffney.

Surviving are her son, Bill Carraway of Chester; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Memorials may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation, 100 North Brand Blvd., Suite 200, Glendale, CA 91203.

Harold Jett

CLOVER - A graveside service for Mr. Harold Junior Jett, 72, of 2980 Propst Road, who died Wednesday, June 3, 1998, at his home, will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Beersheba Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Williams officiating.

Mr. Jett was retired from the military and served in both the Army and Navy. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion.

Surviving are his son, Harold Ronald Jett of Clover; five daughters, Barbara J. Carpenter and Sharon J. Calarosa, both of Independence, Mo., Carolyn J. Lindstrom of Lakewood, Calif., Brenda Strikeleather of Charlotte, and Rhonda J. Broadway of Clover; his brother, Paul Howard Jett of Independence, Mo.; 18 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at York Funeral Home.

Euna McConnell

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Euna Bell Hall McConnell, 93, of 250 Springdale Road died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at White Oak Manor.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Greene Funeral Home, with the Rev. Tommy Huddleston officiating. Burial will be at Catawba Baptist Church cemetery.

Mrs. McConnell was a retiree of Rock Hill Printing & Finishing Co., with 20 years of service. She was a member of Catawba Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher in the primary department and a member of the Jeanette Walker Sunday school class. She was the widow of Lonnie F. McConnell.

Surviving are two sons, Howard "Sparky" McConnell and L.A. "Bill" McConnell, both of Rock Hill; her brother, Hoyt Hall of Elberton, Ga.; and her sister, Omie Brown of Rock Hill; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her great-great-grandchild; and her companion, Faye Lyons of Rock Hill.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at Greene Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to the Annie Armstrong Offering c/o Catawba Baptist Church, 2639 Catawba Church Road, Rock Hill, SC 29730.

Alma Walls

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Alma "A.J." Walls, 48, of 431 Summit St. died Monday, June, 1, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be noon Saturday at Mount Zion No. 1 AME Zion Church in Rowells, with the Rev. Alan L. Stewart officiating and the Rev. M.N. Baxter and Brother James A. Hayes assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Walls attended Emmett Scott High School. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and later joined Mount Zion No. 1 AME Zion Church, where she was a member of the Booster Club. She was formerly employed by Dr. and Mrs. Frank Fairey and Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Burns.

Surviving are three daughters, Terrie Evonne Walls of York, Heather Kirkpatrick of Rock Hill, and Tiffany La-Shawn Walls of the home; her mother, Catherine S. McCollough of Philadelphia; four brothers, Ronald L. McCollough of Edgemoor, James F. McCollough of Bremeton, Wash., Donald McCollough and Wayne C. McCollough, both of New Jersey; her sister, Gail McCollough of California; and six grandchildren.

The body may be viewed from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at home.

The body will be placed in the church at 11 a.m. Saturday.
