Aslee Dewese

ROCK HILL - The funeral for Mrs. Aslee Sibley Mills Dewese of 1306 Crawford Road, who died Tuesday, June 2, 1998, at her home will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Nazareth Baptist Church. Burial will be Barber Memorial Cemetery.

Officiating will be the Rev. Charles Kiser and the eulogist will be the Rev. B.R. Wilson. The Revs. Larry Robinson, M.N. Baxter, T.R. Jones and J.H. Bailey will assist.

Mrs. Dewese attended Lexington, N.C., public schools. She was a housekeeper and a retired custodian at Winthrop University. She was a member of the Nazareth Baptist Church and member of the AP&B Society No. 23. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Wardell Mills Sr., and by her second husband, John Dewese.

She is survived by 14 daughters, Lucinda Mills Daniel, Mary Mills McGleen, and Tina Mills all of Brooklyn, N.Y., Maggie Dewese Ragsdale, Katie Dewese Page, Barbara Laster, Lucille Mills Reid and Louise Mills Moorer, all of Rock Hill, Jinelle Brown Jones of Las Vegas, Jackey Mills Cleveland of Bowie, Md., Rhina Dewese Whitlock of New York, Lucille Dewese Cooper of Oxford, N.Y., Mattie Dewese Bennett of Charlotte and Roline Dewese Dukes of Wilmington, N.C.; three sons, Dewey V. Mills of Rock Hill, Wardell Mills Jr. of Chester, and Leon Dewese of New York; 55 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at Robinson Funeral Home and at other times at the home, 1306 Crawford Road.

Cleavy Hamrick

SHELBY - Mr. Cleavy Watson Hamrick, 82, of 1932 Gaffney Road, died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Rutherford County Hospital.

The funeral will be 7:30 tonight at Flint Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cleveland Memorial Park.

Mr. Hamrick was a retired self-employed painter. He was the widower of Mary Sue Anthony Hamrick. He was a lifetime member of Flint Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are two sons, Joe D. Hamrick of Hickory Grove and Roland B. Hamrick of Boiling Springs; his brother, Travis Hamrick of Gaffney; his sister, Lois Allen of Shelby; and three grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the church.

Lutz-Austell Funeral Home is in charge.

Thomas Hope

YORK - Mr. Thomas M. Hope Sr., 80, of 1346 Tom Hope Road died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. Wallace Tinsley. Burial will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens.

Mr. Hope was a member of the Filbert Presbyterian Church in America, where he was a deacon and elder emeritus. He was a retiree of the South Carolina Department of Transportation School Bus Maintenance for York County school districts.

Surviving are his wife, Lucy Maurice Howell Hope; four sons, Thomas Hope Jr., Edgar E. Hope and M. Keith Hope, all of York, and James M. Hope of Sylvania, Ga.; his daughter, Brenda H. Brock of Chester; three brothers, the Rev. Charles O. Ferguson of Greenville, Leroy H. Ferguson of York and Holmes Roberts of Hickory Grove; his sister, Margie R. Brown of York; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Filbert Presbyterian Church in America and at other times at the home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Filbert Presbyterian Church in America building fund, 2066 North Highway 321, York, SC 29745.

Francis Jordan

FORT LAWN - Mr. Francis J. Jordan of 2228 Catawba River Road died Friday, June 5, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill.

A graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Elmwood Cemetery, with the Rev. John R. Rumford officiating.

Mr. Jordan was a retired printer for Rock Hill Printing and Finishing Co. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of Fort Lawn Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret Drennan Jordan.

The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. Sunday at Fort Lawn Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2711 Middleburg Drive, Suite 311, Columbia, SC 29294-9894 or to Helms-Gordon Residential Care, 714 Funderburke Road, Fort Lawn, SC 28714.

Havalia Mason

NORTH CHARLESTON - Mrs. Havalia Parker Mason, of North Charleston, died Friday, June 5, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at Advent Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Live Oak Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Mason was a member of Advent Lutheran Church. A registered nurse, she was a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina School of Nursing.

Surviving are her husband, John W. Mason; two daughters, Ellen M. Vick of Rock Hill and Elizabeth A. Mason of North Charleston; two sisters, Sarah L. Thompson of Kingstree and Eva D. Morton of Longs; two brothers, Daniel B. Parker and Jack K. Parker, both of Longs; three grandchildren.

J. Henry Stuhr, North Area Chapel is in charge.

Mary McCluney

SHARON - Miss Mary M. "Little" McCluney, 97, of 4055 Cabal Road, Thompson Quarter Community died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mount Hopewell Baptist Church in Sharon, with the Rev. Raymond Davis officiating and the Revs. W.T. Massey and James Hope assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Miss McCluney was a domestic worker. She was a member of Mount Hopewell Baptist Church, where she was a missionary and member of the AP&B Society No. 36. She was a native of Chester County.

Surviving are two sisters, Pinkie Bell Thompson and Azalee Robbins, both of Sharon.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Viewing will be from noon to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at King's Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Carl Patterson

YORK - Mr. Carl "Bill" Wallace Patterson, 56, of 3933 Biggers Road died Thursday, June 4, 1998, at Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia, N.C.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ramah Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Al Daniel officiating. Burial will be at Beersheba Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Patterson was the owner of Patterson Pulpwood & Logging Co. He was a member of Ramah Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara McCarter Patterson; his son, Robert Eric Curtis of Clover; two daughters, Sherri C. Christmus(CQ) and Tammy C. Bailes, both of Clover; his stepmother, Della Campbell Patterson of York; three brothers, David Patterson, Roy Patterson and Clyde Patterson, all of York; three sisters, Agnes Braziel of West Columbia and Katherine Jackson and Nancy Wyatt, both of York; five grandchildren; seven stepsisters and his stepbrother.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at M.L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Beersheba Cemetery Association, 130 S. Beersheba Road, Clover, SC 29710 or Ramah Presbyterian Church building fund, 251 Ramah Church Road, York SC 29745.
