Sally Patterson

GREAT FALLS - Ms. Sally Ann Patterson, 31, of Route 2, Box 96-D, Winnsboro, died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center in Columbia.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, with Pastor J.A. McFarlan officiating and the Rev. D. Rice assisting. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Ms. Patterson was employed with Fuji Films in Winnsboro and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and its young adult choir. She was a 1985 graduate of Great Falls High School.

Surviving are her son, Kenneth Q. Patterson of the home; her daughter, Iesha C. Patterson of the home; her mother, Lucille Patterson of Winnsboro; three brothers, Alonzo Patterson, Isaiah Patterson and John Henry "Chuck" Patterson, all of Winnsboro; five sisters, Inez Gladden of Columbia, and Angela Dye, Doris Howard, Charlene Patterson and Christine Patterson, all of Winnsboro; four half-brothers, John Boulware of Blackstock, Roger Kelly of Chester, and Donnell Kelly and Tyrone Kelly, both of Winnsboro; two half-sisters, Mary Talford of Great Falls and Gloria Curry of Chester; her fiance, Kenneth Pearson of Winnsboro; and her grandmother, Maggie Patterson of Great Falls.

Viewing will be from 7 to 8 tonight at Washington Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Oscar Covington Sr.

ROCK HILL - Mr. Oscar Henry Covington Sr., 86, of 1380 Allison Circle died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at home.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Alan Arnold officiating. Burial will be at Ebenezer ARP Church cemetery.

A retired automobile mechanic, Mr. Covington was a member of Allison Creek Presbyterian Church and was a charter member of the Newport Fire Department. He was the widower of Mary Elizabeth Carothers Covington.

Surviving are his son, Henry Covington of Rock Hill; three daughters, Virginia C. Moss and Ellen C. Chio, both of Rock Hill, and Iris C. Coleman of Catawba; his sister, Louise C. Thatcher of Rock Hill; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Cauthen Funeral Home and at other times at the home.

Memorials may be made to Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, 5780 Allison Creek Road, York, SC 29745 or to Ebenezer ARP Church cemetery fund, 2132 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, SC 29732.

Viola Craigo

LANCASTER - Mrs. Viola Craigo, 75, of 1039 Sara Drive died Saturday, Sept. 5. 1998, at her home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. today at Grandview Cemetery in Rock Hill, with Chaplin Miriam Mick officiating.

A native of Putman, W.Va., Mrs. Craigo was a restaurant employee.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur "Chip" Craigo Jr. and Robert Craigo, both of Lancaster; her daughter, Janice Marshall of Fort Lawn; two brothers, George Roach and Jimmy Roach, both of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; five sisters, Barbara Jahn of Fullerton, Calif., and Betty Jean Owens, Ruth Cox, Alice Lewis and Mary Bowles, all of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 8 to 9 a.m. today at Mahaffey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Community Care, 325 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, SC 29732.

William Dunlap

ROCK HILL - Mr. William Milan Dunlap of 1800 India Hook Road died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Spring Arbor.

The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Quail Springs Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Burial will be at Clinton Cemetery in Clinton, Okla.

Mr. Dunlap was a member of Quail Springs Baptist Church. He served in World War II, was a retired music store owner in Oklahoma City and worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Oklahoma City for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Lavern M. Dunlap; his son, David Milan Dunlap of Rock Hill; his brother Maclain Dunlap of Tulsa, Okla.; and his grandchild.

Resthaven Funeral Home of Oklahoma City is in charge.

Greene Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Michael Gill

FORT MILL - Mr. Michael Charles Gill, 44, of 8561 Indian Park Road died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998.

Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.

A native of Denver, Mr. Gill worked as a painter.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn Gill of Fort Mill; his father and stepmother, James and Pat Gill; and his stepbrother, Allen Gill of Gainesville, Fla.

Wolfe Funeral Home is in charge.

Ethan Gunthrope

CHESTER - Mr. Ethan "Bill" Gunthrope, 44, of 111 Culp St. died Friday, Sept. 4, 1998, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.

The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday at King's Funeral Home with Pastor Keith Taylor officiating.

Burial will be in Old Wilson Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Gunthrope was a native of Chester County. He was a graduate of Great Falls High School and was employed at the Chester Rental Uniform company of Chester.

Surviving are his wife, Ella K. Gunthrope of the home; two step-daughters, Felicia Keener and Curtrina Keener, both of the home; his father, Johnny Talford of Great Falls; two sisters, Sadie Gladden of Chester and Johnie Mae Holmes of Great Falls; his brother, Floyd Gunthrope of New York City; and two foster sisters, Josephine Reeves of Great Falls and Fannie Mae Crocket of Charlotte.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

King's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Joe Ann Hyatt

ROCK HILL - Mrs. Joe Ann T. Hyatt of 4779 Harmony Church Road, Edgemoor, died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Piedmont Medical Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday at Mount Vernon AME Zion Church, with the Rev. John E. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hyatt was a member of Mount Vernon AME Zion Church where she was on the Deaconess Board, was vice president of the Willing Workers, was a member of the Flower Club and was secretary of the Gospel Chorus. She was a 1963 graduate of Finley High School in Chester.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Hyatt; two daughters, Meshan T. Hyatt and Yutonka N. Hyatt, both of the home; her brother, Ulysees Patton of Heath Springs; five sisters, Mary P. Lee of Edgemoor, Jessie Cooper of Kingstree, Virginia Sloan and Barbara Dean, both of Charlotte, and Hannah Robinson of Rock Hill; and her grandchild.

The body may be viewed from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home.

The body will be taken to the church at 1 p.m. Friday.

The family will receive friends at the home.
